How to have a personal relationship with Jesus Christ
ADMIT YOUR SIN: Sin separates us from God. The Bible says, "All have sinned, and come short of the glory of God." (Romans 3:23) The only way back to God is through His Son, Jesus Christ.
ABANDON SELF-EFFORT: If we could save ourselves, Jesus didn't have to die! Salvation is by God's grace alone. "For by grace are you saved through faith; and that not of yourselves; it is a gift of God; not of works, lest any man should boast." (Ephesians 2:8-9)
ACKNOWLEDGE CHRIST'S PAYMENT: Jesus Christ, the Son of God, died for your sins. "But God commendeth His love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us." (Romans 5:8) Jesus died in your place and your sin debt has been paid for by, "The blood of Jesus Christ." (1John 1:7)
ACCEPT CHRIST AS SAVIOR: Put your faith in Jesus Christ and Him alone for your salvation. Receive Him by faith. The Bible says, "Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and thou shalt be saved." (Acts 16:31) Jesus said, "I am the Way, the Truth, and the Life; no man cometh unto the Father but by Me." (John 14:6)
OFFER THIS PRAY TO GOD TODAY: Heavenly Father, I'm a sinner, I'm lost and I need to be saved. I know I can't save myself. I trust You to save me. Come into heart, forgive my sin and save me. I give you my life, I don't look for a sign or ask for a feeling; I trust only in You to save me. Begin now to make me the person You want me to be. Help me never to be ashamed of You. Thank You for saving me, Jesus. In Your name I pray, Amen.

By far my favorite preacher of any era. However he told everyone that without Jesus he was nothing. A great man and Christian but he as any of us fails when we compare our shelves to JESUS. I’m a cradle Catholic, but I had never heard anyone mentioned a personal relationship with Jesus until after I turned 64. I first heard of this idea during a bible studying session, when one non-Catholic Christian said: “It doesn’t matter what church you belong to; your personal relationship with Jesus is all that is important.” I didn’t agree for I was taught that there is no salvation outside the Catholic Church, but not knowing what to say, I remained silent. I thought: Wow! What’s a good way to keep people away from church. I quickly forgot about this idea, but a few weeks later, I heard the same expression, this time from a practicing Catholic. Again, I didn’t agree nor did I know what to say; I brushed off the idea as no more than an attempt to be politically correct. I didn’t think about this idea afterward, but then, it hit me one day when a priest told the same group, myself included, that until recently, he didn’t know that our relationship with Jesus is so important. Well! I was perplexed, but at least he didn’t say, it doesn’t matter what church you belong to, I thought. I pondered upon what he said, and decided to check it out. And, behold, here’s what I found, Catechism of the Catholic Church, paragraphs 299, 796, 1309: (299) Because God creates through wisdom, his creation is ordered: "You have arranged all things by measure and number and weight."151 The universe, created in and by the eternal Word, the "image of the invisible God", is destined for and addressed to man, himself created in the "image of God" and called to a personal relationship with God.152 (796) The unity of Christ and the Church, head and members of one Body, also implies the distinction of the two within a personal relationship. (1039) In the presence of Christ, who is Truth itself, the truth of each man's relationship with God will be laid bare.624 (See CCC for full text and foot notes 151, 152,and 624)
Wow! I had no idea that calling to a personal relationship with God is the teaching of the Catholic Church. But here it is. Written down in black and white. So I accept, I believe, and I submit myself to the teaching of the Catholic Church.
Now, knowing that a personal relationship with Jesus is important, I asked myself, “What is my personal relationship with Jesus? Is it a hi-and-bye relationship, or is it a close one? ” I know my personal relationship with Jesus is better than just hi-and-bye, but I can’t quantify it. I wondered if spending one hour weekly with Jesus in Eucharistic Adoration, or celebrating His life, death, and resurrection in the Holy Mass indicative of a close relationship. I don’t know what I ought to do to foster a personal relationship with Jesus, but I do know what Jesus wants me to do to have the closest, the most intimate personal relationship with Him. He wants me to eat His flesh and drink His blood so that I can remain in Him and He in me. He said: Jn 6: 56, “Whoever eats my flesh and drinks my blood remains in me and I in him.” Can any relationship be more personal, more intimate, or closer than to be in each other?
So to the friends who told me about a personal relationship with Jesus, I thank you. I apologize for considering your good words as a way to keep people away from church, and as an attempt to be politically correct. I now believe that a personal relationship with Jesus is all that is important, but, my friends, if you want to have a close personal relationship with Jesus, close enough to remain in Him and He in you; it does matter what church you belong to.

Yes, since I surrendered to the Christ, He has changed me.. I do the same thing as you, He is constantly in my thoughts throughout the day. I talk to Him and praise Him when I'm doing barn chores or dishes. I find that I constantly want to talk about and share Him with others. He is so wonderful..

I still don't understand. I can say (and mean) all the words & truly desire forgiveness & the pure Mercy & Grace of God for myself & all others who have hurt me, but I'm still steeped in feelings of sadness because of the repercussions of the bitterness in my heart. I struggle with faith because of my feelings & the lack of joy I'm supposed to have no matter what. I can only hope that the Lord is leading me to learn how to praise Him for all of the bad in my life & how to truly be grateful for it. Ty for your prayers. I thing I don't have as long to live as long as I might like in order to come to terms with it & to be strong enough to pass through that veil if I must but I pray I may be one of His Chosen to be raptured into His arms

I am a life long Christian a Baptist and have studied philosophy as kinda a fun thing not a way of life the idea of integrity is there always, the man know as the last philosopher Marshall McCluren was a man of God and predicted the internet and its Foley in the book the media is the message, a great example of a modern scientist was Arthur C. Clark a Christian who was treated very badly by the so called intelligent community because he believed in God, I am an electronics engineer an over the years have been challenged by people smarter than me about my faith in Jesus and found that most who were just rude about it and wanted to not disuse but argue my faith not there own but my life came from the same geographic locations in the world and our great country and I found that political views were the driving force as much as anything, very sad stuff

If you say you follow Jesus and His word and follow the Catholic Churches Sunday worship how are you following Jesus and His Sabbath?
In regards to 1 John 5:6-8, I don't think John is just referring to the water and blood that came out of Jesus when he was pierced by the spear (John 19:34). Since everything Jesus did was for a reason, the "water" might refer to two things: Jesus' baptism (Matthew 3:13-17) and the baptism (1 Peter 3:18-22) that all Christians are called to observe as a declaration of faith. I believe that water also poured from Jesus' side because he said, "If anyone is thirsty, let him come to Me and drink" (John 7:37) and that whoever drinks of the water that I will give him shall never thirst" (John 4:14).
The "blood" likewise is pretty clearly a reference to the blood of God's covenant. Throughout Biblical history, any time God made a promise with someone, he sealed the promise with blood (Genesis 15:17, Leviticus 17:11, Luke 22:20, Matthew 26:28). The book of Hebrews tells us that "Indeed, under the law, almost everything is purified with blood, and without the shedding of blood there is no forgiveness of sins." (Hebrews 9:22).
