    Solid advice. I did this while project based on this video in about 15 min with no experience and it went without a hitch.

    Great instruction video. One change we did was rather than disconnecting the door controls, we left them intact and propped up the inner door panel. The mirror only came in black rather than the beautiful gold for the rest of the body, but in 2024
    we don’t care that much. Thanks again and God bless you and yours.

    Thanks so much... it takes most of the potential drama out of it when someone shows you how some of these things fit together.

      Of course! Yeah sometimes its' just knowing where to start and what's behind the covers. Thanks for taking a minute to leave some feedback! Hope the job went smoothly!

      @@HowToEscapeDIYTipsandReviews It went really well, overall. I was doing the driver's side... there is a fourth harness, and you may have covered it but it wasn't in my notes... couldn't get it, but propped the panel up so I could finish. Don't know why they use different 'tricks' for different clips. Anyway, all good, no broken clips, no pieces left over, lol. thanks again. :)

    Thank you for for this! and to think ( like almost everything on the escape's, from battery placement to changing a damn turn signal bulb..) if that one piece that we remove laterally was designed a little differently, no interior panel removal would be necessay. This vehicle was completly designed to have it come back to the shop to pay the hourly labour fee... So thank you again for all your hard work. Thank god the windshiled washer fluid is accessible... lol (but you'll never know when you're out..) lol cheers

    Hi! Love the vids, so much help doing projects on my 2013 Escape. I am replacing a puddle light to an LED Ford logo projection housing. Do you happen to know the size of the small torx screw that attaches the housing to the body of the mirror housing?😮

    Why did you go to the bother to unhook the door latch cable and plug?
    Why not just hang door panel on a hook and slide the mirror panel back to get access to the mirror bolts?

      Hey there Patrick- so just to make sure we're on the same page, you're talking about the painted front cover of the side mirror? And by glass do you mean the turn signal?

    Is it possible to change a cracked mirror on the side mirror myself?

    • @HowToEscapeDIYTipsandReviews
      @HowToEscapeDIYTipsandReviews  Před 2 lety +1

      Hey there @Sparxxx, yes it is- I have not done it myself yet but just looking at the mirror glass itself, it appears you purchase the part with the mirror on front, and a plastic backing with a circular snap profile that you press onto the mirror motor. If you have higher end features like heated glass, directional light, and/or blind spot sensors, those wire connections are on the back side of the mirror as well. Check out this link here for an example of what the glass / plastic part looks like- hope this helps: www.tascaparts.com/oem-parts/ford-mirror-glass-passenger-side-rh-cj5z17k707b?c=az0x

    Any idea if these are the same steps for a 2019 Escape?

    • @HowToEscapeDIYTipsandReviews
      @HowToEscapeDIYTipsandReviews  Před 2 lety +1

      Hey Jonathan- I don't have a direct way to verify for you but I'd bet $5 that it is generally the same approach. Remove the interior panel behind the screws, unclip the wire harness, remove the screws holding the mirror in place, and gently lift the assembly away from your door. Obviously the details may differ slightly with how interior panels may be secured but I wouldnt' think Ford would switch it up TOO much from one body style to the next as they're still quite similar. The jump to 2020 may be very different as it's a whole new look to the vehicle interior / exterior, but if you're in a 2019, it should be similar.

      I found some (just ordered one) on LKQ Online for $60 w/ free shipping. Took about a week, but I just got it in today. It's used, but looks in the same condition as my undamaged driver side mirror.

      Hi there! I can't exactly verify as I only have access to my 2013, but the principle to remove a cosmetic panel to expose the mounting nuts/bolts are pretty common. It may be a different panel removal approach but it will / should be mostly the same. Wish I could help you more here- sorry!

    some dumbass smacked my mirror into bits on my street, parents get the driveway so i had no choice lmao.
    anyway, mirror is cracked and the front cap thing came off. can’t move the mirror with the automated switch thing, think i should just buy a whole new mirror?

    • @HowToEscapeDIYTipsandReviews
      @HowToEscapeDIYTipsandReviews  Před 2 lety +2

      Ugh- sorry that happened. So if the front cosmetic cover popped off, that can be replaced, but does it need to be? Is it damaged or did it just come off? I ask because you can definitely get a new one, but getting it paint matched is a bit harder to find - they usually come primed and ready to paint so that would be one more thing you have to do. Also, you SHOULD be able to pop the glass off of the motor gimbal inside the mirror assembly. They snap in there. If you look at the Tasca Parts website and just look at the exploded view drawings of the mirror assembly it should show the snap system which holds the mirror glass on there. ALL OF THAT BEING SAID, yes, it may be a whole lot easier to go on eBay and find a mirror assembly that matches your color and features and get that since it's already painted and the glass is intact. Make sure it doesn't have too many or too less features than your vehicle though, or sometimes the wire pinouts will be different. Let me know if this makes sense- here if you need more help.
