This video is a tutorial on how to safely and easily remove the front interior door panels on your driver or passenger side doors for 2013-2016 Ford Escapes. You don't need too many tools and it just takes a few minutes if you know where to look.
Benefits of removing this panel include:
- Servicing the window lift system/ window regulator
- Accessing the audio speaker in the door
- Best removing the cover panel for accessing side mirror screws/wires
- Accessing door latch area/ keyless entry

Exactly what I needed to learn. Thank you for taking the time to make the video.
Glad you could use it, Mark!!! Thanks for the feedback and hope it went smoothly!
Thanks!!
Youâre video was extremely helpful in replacing the window regulator.
Thanks very helpful
Thanks. Awesome!
Thanks!!!!
Question: at what point during reassembly do we recconect the door latch cable and the power locks wire connector?
Just kidding; I had to troll you some for missing that detail. But thanks for this video. The mothership needs a new interior panel on the driver's side; every time the weather turns cold, the panel actually catches on the door frame, and it's gotten bad enough that I actually have to shoulder the door several times just to get out of the car.
thanks from the other side of the pond
Hi, great work on the videos. Thanks to you I've been able to replace several parts on my 2013 Kuga (Europe version).
Was wondering if you maybe know a fix for the tailgate. The button on mine simply does not work. Tried a "reset" by pulling the fuse in the boot, but it did not work.
Do you have a video on installing the window regulator??
Man, I love your detailed videos. I have 2013 escape. Thanks panel came right out
I have been searching for this opening for 4 months! You made my day with this vĂdeo. Our Ford 2014 Escape rear door is making some creaking noise and itâs driving me nuts, lol. Have you ever experienced that? Would you have any tips to eliminate those noises?
Thank for posting you could add something to say this is how you change out the Power window switch
Hey there Michael! Thank you for the suggestion- I could absolutely do that and hadn't considered that before. I appreciate the heads up! Take care and let us know if we can help with anything else- hopefully we can!
Do you have to take off the door panel to replace the inside door latch that broke off. Mine is a 2013 ford escape titanium. I removed the 7mm screw but it doesnât seem to want to pop off
Big difference between the Driver Side and the passenger because my door handle won't pop out. I've actually cracked it truing to bring it up and when I look up under I can see there is something else that needs released. And after breaking it off completely, I found the driver side metal handle grip needs to pop off and then pry carefully to separate the top of the pull handle from the bottom of it while removing plastic bracket with the window and mirror controls. Sure wish I'd known that before I crackled the plastic.
totally unrelated question on door handle portion,it rained really hard and the plastic has water discoloration ,has this happened to you? Also,I see you have a 'crome 'handle, mine is just black, did yours come from factory that way,or is a trim offering above the 'S' ?
Great video. Very informative. Was wondering if maybe you can do a video on removing the rear door panels aswell . Thanks
Hey there Alexisroman3517- I think I could do that- I'll see if I can pull that together in the coming week or so. Anything in specific you're looking for underneath?
Hey there @alexisroman3517, just edited the video tonight. It will be posted in the next 24 hours if you still need the tutorial? Think it spells it out pretty well but please let me know if there is other info you're looking for. Hope it helps!

I was hit by a deer and dented my door. I was hoping to remove the interior door and pop the damage out. It doesnt look like that's going to be possible. Is that another barrier?
Can you lower the window first before proceeding the removal steps? Thanks, will appreciate your answer?
Hey there Henry- yes you should be able to lower the window first. I like to have it up to better self locate the hanging lip at the top of the door panel but I don't belive there is a requirement to have the window up.
Thanks for your quick reply. I am going to try taking off the door panel to fix a rattle that bugs me. I thought it might make it easier to disconnect the wiring cable clips with the window down. I think I will have the window not all the way down so I can still self locate the hanging lip of the top of the door panel.
