Nobody 'peacocked' on the stage quite like Freddie. He was such an incredible performer.
Yes I got to see this tour at Madison Square Garden in NYC absolutely fantastic!!!!
@@jimmyperez3911 Wow! Very cool.
Jim Dandy from Black Oak Arkansas was no Freddie Mercury vocally, but he was one of the strutting and peacocking pioneers.
Robert Plant was no slouch either. But I prefer Freddie, he's the best.
Queen hired about 50 naked French ladies to ride bikes around to celebrate the release of this song. As a teenage boy in 1978 I totally supported Queens brilliant marketing decisions to do that and to add a poster of that fantastic event in the album. Thanks you Brian ,John ,
Roger & Freddie 😂.
I had that album and poster too 😁
Are you confusing the video for Bicycle Race with this song? The official video for Bicycle Race was filmed with several naked women riding around the track at Wembley in England. The French connection to the song Bicycle Race is that Queen was recording the Jazz album in France. During their time in France the Tour de France came through the town where the band was staying and this event inspired Freddie to write Bicycle Race. During this time in history the tax system was excessively harsh on people who made a lot of money to Queen like many other artists and performers spent the majority of the year outside of the UK to avoid the excessive taxes. Roger Taylor lamented that he and the rest of the band could not be at Wembley when the video was shot. 🤣😂
Dude I was a teenage boy and there was naked women on bicycles , the exact reason for that blessed event was completely irrelevant. But yeah your correct
The naked ladies were for 'Bicycle Race'.
For a real treat you guys might like to check out the live version from Milton Keynes, mere words could never describe. I think you'd both love it.
I was so scandalized, back in the early 80's when I was a really sheltered 11 yr old, when my older teenaged brother would BLAST THIS SONG from his bedroom, to my parents chagrin. xo :D When he listened to Queen, we all listened to Queen. ^_^
😂
But it is a fun song addoring women everywhere! accepting the modern woman for who she is! It has a great message, if you listen to it currectly. Besides, Queen are only made to be listend to in big volumes, double meaning.
"Get on your bikes and ride!" always takes me right to Bicycle Race, which is another less serious song. Freddie was able to take a decent song and make it so catchy!! It wasn't just that it was good music, which it was, because they are still playing live to sold out arenas. But Freddie made it almost an anthem, which is crazy.
They were on the same album, so I would imagine that was on purpose.
@@trishc3099 it was and Bicycle Race calls out to Fat Bottomed Girls
The large fold-out poster that came with the LP i.ebayimg.com/images/g/Q1AAAOSwdhxjbghh/s-l1600.jpg
@@trishc3099 They were released as a double A-side 7" single for a reason.
Queen guitarist Brian May is also an astrophysicist. He wrote this song and after all of these years it has never been proved wrong. Therefore, we can assume that fat bottom girls do indeed make the world spin. I love science.
Never fails to put a smile on my face!!
Such a great song played by one of the best bands of all time.
Another great rocking song by Queen is 'Stone Cold Crazy'
🤘🤘
And "Tie Your Mother Down."
R.I.P To A Great Singer Songwriter Freddie Mercury, Still Miss You Always 😢
Such a FUN song! Many might think this was written by Freddie...but NO - it was the studious, perfectionist guitarist Brian May who penned this GEM! The instrumentation on this is fantastic...and the lyrics are great. Freddie put his voice - and heart - into every song regardless of who in Queen actually wrote the song. And Freddie willingly took a backseat when the song's brilliant instrumentation was the highlight. Each member of Queen wrote songs which accounts for their uniquely diverse - and huge - catalog of music. Queen was one of only a few bands at the time who actually stayed together as a cohesive group for over 20+ years through all the ups (and downs) of their career - no replacements - no ego-driven unresolvable disputes. There is a great interview with Brian and Roger in 1982 - and another with Freddie in the same year - where all of them talk about the importance of staying together. As Freddie says in that interview (I'm paraphrasing here), when a group has achieved rockstar success, it's important for each member to keep both feet on the ground. I believe that their ability to work together - their undeniable chemistry as a group - is a huge reason they achieved the status they did while they were together and why Queen remains legendary to this day.
Late 50's here and my radio station rotation includes modern rock, classic rock, Alt rock, punk, classic country and blues. After all these years this is the one song that I crank up and sing every word to every single time. This song brings a certain joy to most guys who grew up on classic rock. Its THAT song for many of us.
Same
same here, flower child from the summer of love 1967 ✌💖☮
Love this song! I was in middle school when it came out and it is such a fun song! Gotta love QUEEN!!!
Another rock song written by Brian, as was Tie Your Mother Down, but Freddie was always able to make every sing his own
Dedicate this next song to each other…Queen-“You’re My Best Friend”. Really nice song, that nobody reacts to. Great song.
Here's a Queen request you don't see every day: "Death On Two Legs" is an upbeat scathing rebuke of one of the band's early managers who took advantage of their young naivete. I know the name sounds dark and gloomy but the song ROCKS!!!
Shark!
One of my favorite songs on that album. Really like how it blends into Lazing on a Sunday Afternoon.
I 100% agree!
"Death on Two Legs" is a must!!!
If you want to see the live version of this then I recommend live at Milton Keynes, where you will see Freddie and some scaffolding poles..! I say no more.😂
"Freddie and some scaffolding poles..!" Mmm Hmm, love it.
Intimate moments...
@@joannedarley1893me toooo and he's do flexible 😅
Queen never stuck to a type of music. Each song is very different. My favorite is when Freddie dons a royal robe and crown on stage! He is the "Queen" of performers!
Lead guitar Brian May has a PhD in Astro Physics.
The drummer Roger Taylor is an excellent singer and usually gets a song on each album. I recommend checking one out. 'Flight from the Inside' is a favorite but 'I'm in Love with my Car' is classic.
so is Brian... he has some good solo songs too
You guys should listen to Queen "We will rock you" and "We are the champions" back to back... one song leads into the other.
My 2nd fave Queen song! I think the overall tone of the song is MEANT to be heavy & "fat", hence the predominant, pounding beat, seeming to "overwhelm" Freddie's vocals. Thanks for your reaction.
It's so fat, bluesy and swampy, in fact, that I think it could fit under the "southern rock" moniker.
Saw Queen three times back then and 1978 was the first... truth be told, they brought the House Down with this one....
I play in a cover band. When we start this song the ladies go crazy. They love it!
Thanks, kids - such a rocker - written by Brian.. I was amused by this post: "In 1978 Astrophysicist Brian May, assisted by F. Mercury, postulated that the earth's rotation was due to Fat Bottomed Girls... after more than 40 years, without being disproven, refuted, or even seriously questioned, this now must be accepted as scientific fact." - lol (p.s. "get on your bikes and ride" is a reference to "Bicycle Race"... check it out...)
Omg never fails to entertain total legend keep dropping queen songs guys ❤❤
Wow 🎉 beautiful sweet Freddie ❤️ what an absolute enjoyment watching him on stage 😅
This was pretty raunchy stuff for 70s radio. We loved it.
And yes, I think you will get a LOT of likes for Queen songs. There are a lot of us fans out there. I certainly look forward to all of them!
Guitarist Brian May also had a PhD in Astrophysics so he knew what made the rockin' world go round....Fat Bottom Girls
My all time favorite Queen tune right here! Thanks for the review! This song easily provides you plenty of cushion for the pushin'.
😂
Live this is great, been there, done that way back in July of 1982 at Madison Square Garden.
This is off of their "Jazz" album. It came with a poster inside that was a couple feet long with scantily, naked, women on bicycles. It was also a double A side single with the song "Bicycle Race".
Saw them at the Nassau Colosium, but I think for an earlier tour. Nude women on bikes stood out for me too. Lol.
Queen usually rocks. Queens has at least 2 songs that seem to be everywhere. Dunno how anyone could've not heard them
Check out these Queen songs: Another One Bites The Dust, One Vision & Keep Yourself Alive
Oh you guys gotta see this song performed live at Milton Keynes 1982 to really appreciate Freddie’s flirting with the poles, bannisters, & scaffolding!! Omg! And that Red Jacket 🚨‼️💯
Drummer Roger Taylor is usually the high falsetto voice you hear, as on Bo Rhap.
The Opera (3:05-4:07) section concludes with a full choral treatment of the lyric "Beelzebub has a devil put aside for me!", on a block B♭ major chord. Roger Taylor tops the final chord with a falsetto B♭ in the fifth octave (B♭5). Wikipedia.
The background vocals.....Got-Dayum!
Great reaction as always! You will always be surprised when you hear a new Queen song because they were truly one of the most diverse and experimental bands out there and never stuck to one type of music, that’s what made them so great. I know you’re used to seeing more of Freddie but as you go on their journey you’ll see that each member contributed greatly to the band and Queen just wouldn’t have been the same without any of them, the background vocals you normally hear are from Roger Taylor & Brian May, Roger having the highest voice and doing most of the harmonies, and this song was written by Brian, and it would be great if you checked out its live version from Milton Keynes 1982, it’s even better live
And if you want to hear more of Queen’s “rockier” sound I recommend “Keep Yourself Alive” from the 70s as well, also Killer Queen (you could check out its live version from Montreal 1981 as a medley with I’m In Love With My Car which has Roger on main vocals) and “Now I’m Here” or more later in their career there’s also “I Want It All” and “Innuendo” (more similar to Borhap). Also from Montreal 1981 if you want more of their “comedic” side there’s “Dragon Attack”. You can just never go wrong with anything from Queen, hope to see more reactions soon!
Released as a double A-side with Bicycle Race. Do that song as well with video. You'll see how the 2 tracks tie together.
In his spare time, guitarist Brian May who wrote this song is an astrophysicist, so you know he knows that 'fat bottomed girls' do make the rockin' world go round. Such a great video showing how Freddie is one of the greatest showmen to ever step on stage. For some odd reasons, they are wanting to leave "Fat Bottomed Girls" off the recent greatest Queen hits album, which would be a travesty.
Internet Hoax re the greatest hits album change.
It has been removed from exactly ONE obscure streaming service called YOTO - which is geared toward child-friendly content, with an average listenership age of *five year olds*.
Kids version of album
Please remember Brian May, Queen's lead guitarist is a physicist, so it lends the theory some credit.
I just found your channel tonight and love many queen songs. I see you've reacted to the Live Aid performance, haven't seen it yet, but will certainly check it out. But for this song you must check out the live version! I'm not sure if it was mentioned (but it probably has been), but if you do, check out the Queen - Fat Bottomed Girls (Live At The Bowl) performance! I love seeing the official videos, but also love to check out live performances (and seem to like them better, but that's just me!). Freddie always had the audience in the palm of his hand!
I absolutely in love with bass in this song! Especially the moment right before second verse, this slide "wzzzzhhuuu" 😍
Queen was at heart a rock band. This is what they sounded like.
Brilliant even today, just imagine back in the 70's, they were awesome
Great reaction. A LOT of their early songs were very much hatprdcrock/ almost heavy metal. They liked to have a variety on each album, and they all wrote songs that were hit, so there are so many different KINDS of song they have in their discography.
"The looser the waistband, the deeper the quicksand"
David St Hubbins, Patron Saint of Quality Footwear
You will keep hearing different sounds from Queen. That is one of the reasons they are so good. Queen's heavier music was early part of their career. Try White Queen at Odeon 1975. This live version is a must. You will understand. 🙂
Definitely a must!!!
Guitarist Brian May wrote this song. "I want it all" is another harder rock song by Queen from 1989.I hope ya'll get requests to react to that music video sometime
A couple of side notes on Brian May... 1) the red body guitar he is known for was built by his dad and him out of salvaged materials when he was a kid.... 2) They all met at university (college) and when Freddie passed away and Queen generally went on hiatus, he finish his PhD in Astrophysics!!!
My absolute favorite song by them
Loved it thank you so much, great reaction as always x
Enjoyed the reaction.
Really want your mind blown, Queen's song My Melancholy Blues, has got to be not only the most overlooked song, but one of their finest.
Treat yourselves and your fans react to it, this sing is so good if you don't want to react to it. Check it out off camera. You won't regret it.
Had Freddie Mercury been on a stage with a million people, he would've instantly owned it. Showmanship, no one was better.
That song comes off my favorite Queen album called Jazz! Every song is pretty amazing! I wore that album out!
I subscribed a while back and love the Bars and Barbells reactions. Phil's commentary is great as is Sam's. Sam is so cool and entertaining as well as stunningly beautiful! Keep 'em coming guys!!!!
🥂here's to the ladies Queen is singing about😘
I really hope you do more Queen. I love watching people discover their songs, especially their live performances.
If you didn’t know, their early stuff from the 70’s is a lot more hard rock.

Iconic song; just seeing FM do that song is awesome!! Funny to me hearing ya'll talk about it because "different than their other stuff" IS who Queen really was. Freddie was such a genius that "same old same old" bored him. He was always trying to find something new.
Thanks for this. Great tune. An awesome next Queen track would be I WANT IT ALL.
You should watch the live version of this. Milton Keynes 1982. Its awesome. Freddie really shows his performing ability
React to this song performed live at Milton Keynes 1982. You cant beat queen performing live.
My brother in law was a huge Queen fan. My son was 3 at the time and spent alot of time with him. Imagine my shock, and everyone else's, surprise when my son started singing this song at my in laws table 😮
Great song from an AMAZING QUEEN ALBUM...MY FAVORITE FROM THEM
This is a great song and always will be. Some people out there (yes, the WOKE crowd) need to get a life of their own and stop trying to live mine for me!
This became an anthem for us girls who had some curves and cushion. At that time if you were shaped like a mop handle, that was considered attractive.
You need to check out earlier Queen if you want a look. Might want to try Liar live at the Rainbow. 1974. Thanks for all the reactions! Like said before Stone Cold Crazy is a very short but very different type of sound from them this was also at the Rainbow in 1974. The version of this song at Milton Keynes 1982 live was a better version of this. Live Queen is so much better!
Early Queen was awesome right away with the debut album, great show at the rainbow, those 1974 shows were magic right away, saw them twice in 74/75, awesome times!
I remember when this came out. Lenard Skinnard was big then. I always thought Queen and Freddie were poking some fun at them and Southern Rock in general, and I was all in for that. Queen their asses in that genre with Fat Bottomed Girls.
Awesome strutting music.
Brian May wrote this song for Freddie who liked his playmates, male and female, with a bit of heft to them. 😁
Great reaction! Freddie got totally obsessed with the mood. Such a true musical genius. Keep reacting to Queen please🙏
Now you have to listen to the "other side" of this which is "Bicycle Race" 🙂
Awesome reaction! Pretty funny I never listened to a "iPod" with little headphones and my friend let me try his and played this song! Haha. Vocals in stereo-wow! Still one of my favorite songs.
No lies detected in this song.
The famous pizza oven lighting rig. 320 individual bulbs and generated vast amounts of heat (hence the name).
Now you’ve set yourself up to check out the companion song to this called Bicycle Races. Listen to it and you’ll see why. It’s also another one of their classics.
I like when the drums first come in with that deep, meaty sound, reminiscent of a big bottom. 😂
Freddie always pushed the envelope, you can see it if you watch, "I want to break free," we all knew anyway, but it was the early 80's.
Fun and awesome video had a smile on my face the entire time!
In case no one else has mentioned this, You heard him sing "get on your bikes and ride" This ties up with their "Bycicle" song in which they sing "fat bottom girls will be riding today, so watch out for those beauties, oh yeah."
Another great song that celebrates full-figure women is AC/DC's 'Whole Lotta Rosie' - which is just aother great, irreverent rock song. I hope you check it out sometime. Thanks for posting this one.
This song was left off the new Queen's Greatest Hits.
Good reaction. Another of their fun songs “Bicycle Race” which is directly tied to this song Fat Bottom Girls
I can't believe you put poor Sam on blast and asked her about FBG's. lol
🎶Barbell Sam, makes the CZcams world go round🎶 🤘😄
@Bars_&-Barbells : 2 words-- 'Bicycle Race'!!!
❤️💯❤️💯❤️💯❤️🤘Thank you for the trip on memory lane. 🇮🇹🇧🇪🇪🇺
This song was released as a double-A side single along with the track "Bicycle Race" (singles, back in the day, were released on a smaller sized vinyl record with the "hit" on the A-side and typically a throwaway song on the B-side). Each song has a line that calls back to the other song. "Bicycle Race" is another lighter/less serious song that includes a bunch of pop culture references from the time.
When I first heard Queen was with the debut, self titled album, soon after it was released. Freddy with long hair and playing the theatrical hard-rock frontman to a tee, that first album was a hard rock classic in a new and exciting sound, both the singer and the band are on another level right off the bat. Freddy is tremendous on vocals and does his thing as only he can. Try Liar, the official video and see what I mean, early Queen is them establishing themselves and becoming stars by the 3rd Album, Killer Queen. Lots of gems on those records, their entire catalog is worth a listen. Enjoy! 🎵🎸🎤🎹🎶
Absolutely great, great song!!!
In for a penny, in for a pound! This tune is epic!
To appreciate more in the same vein, I'd recommend Spinal Tap's Big Bottoms, or AC/DC on Whole Lotta Rosie. Both are well done
A certain Rita Ray (Darts) described this song as "muck" way back when it was released "Queen" - "Darts"...Erm?
Both queen and Freddie are legends respect and rest in peace Freddie
White Queen live at Odeon 75, great performance
Queen’s greatest hits has recently been re-released with a children audience in mind. This song was removed because it wasn’t pc.
Anybody in the UK remember the recorded video that was played on Top Of The Pops back in the day? I remember a lot of girls cycling round a track in a stadium... Would not be allowed today 🙂
This is one my favorites of theirs…I remember being really young when it came out (12) and thinking it was hilarious 😂❤
Dear beautiful humans, great reaction, this song made me accept my fat bottem, and now this baned from the greatest hits because somebody thought that it was not suittable for kids. This is just for fun. .warm hug from the Netherlands ❤
If you get a chance to see an original Jazz album it has a poster in with 50 + naked ladies riding bikes shot from behind. Alas 20 years ago I sold every Queen album I owned, to my regret.
Written by the mild mannered astrophysicist (sir Brian May) specifically as a song Freddie could have fun singing.
The fact that he got that right is even more evident in the live performances.
Queen, Abba, Beach Boys, Carpenters...all of them harmony gods
I seen them live at Joe Louis arena. Best consert I ever attended. 😎🎸🎼🎵🎶
Great reaction as always ... like so many have already said... 'Bicycle Race' next (the video to it could be tricky though ! )
Queen sometimes put out two songs that were linked together eg We are the Champions and We will rock you. So this song, Fat Bottom Girls was paired with Bicycle Race. So you have to hear/see that one also. BUT... you MUST watch the video. It was banned in many Countries, including most of the USA States! Queen organised a whole bunch of models to ride together in a group, on bicyles... NAKED! LOL. True. It's a great song. There was nothing sexual or pornographic. They just happened to be naked.
So, while most of the world were able to watch it on television, the US banned it. Now we can all see it though via CZcams.
Exactly 😊
Great reaction guys! The live version 1982 Milton Keynes is even better!
Queen has another rocker that really cooks titled "Tie Your Mother Down."
Just watched this reaction after finding that the miserable community are trying to get this song cancelled so screw them. I want this on a loop
They definitely had some that were heavier than some others. This is a great song but another one that I’d recommend would be the hammer to fall. One of my favourites of all time though it’s got to be killer, queen and I highly recommend that you check that one out.
