you are perfectly right - go slow.
Do not treat Malaysia as a vacation/ tourist spot but take it as a place for you to "rest" for 3 months (visa length) before you go for your other trips.
You can live like locals, go to places and other towns/ states for a short trip and experience the harmony co-existense of multiple races and religions in the country.
It is affordable and family friendly too.

Your 'kids need downtime' advice at the end is also true of seniors. Lots of good food, bathroom breaks, and afternoon naps are necessary when traveling with seniors.

OMG I'm excited. I Can't believe I come across to this channel and noticed you guys are from Nova Scotia & NFL. I graduated from SMU, Halifax some 10 years ago and really miss that Atlantic harbor city so much. I went back to Malaysia after 4 years and have been here ever since. OMG, the food in Malaysia looks amazing and the price is more amazing.
I totally sensed how your husband described fried rice so vividly. It sounded
really tasty!! I can't believe all that food you guys had at Tony's came out to less than ten
Canadian dollars. The food in Jeju where I currently live is okay but the price
is really high as you probably know. I love living in Jeju but I really miss the diversity
and variety of food I was used to eating in the U.S. especially where I
am from (New Orleans and Chicago). The food in Jeju is very limited to local cuisine
and it's really pricey. I miss all the variety of different ethnic foods in New Orleans and
Chicago. such as Mexican, Chinese, Thai, Indian, Cajun/Creole, Italian, and much much more!!.

It was super good! We really loved having the variety of food available. We did end up eating at this restaurant several times because it was so good though.
While KL Convention Centre (or Center) also has the acronym of KLCC, the correct and more popular usage is for KL City Centre. Do you know that the Twin Towers and the KLCC Park are located at the site of a horse racing course that was relocated to a KL suburb back in 1993? Great video.

💖My kids are grown, but I agree with your philosophy on traveling with kids. We would list the things we'd like to do/see, starting with the "must see/do's", adding the others in descending order of importance. That way, if they get tired, you didn't miss out on the most important places/activities.

The noodles are called wan tan noodles. Those are Chinese fried rice are called Yong chau fried rice. Fried rice originates from China.

@@NewFoundLands guess what, many of the Chinese food here may have its origins in China but over the years they have already evolved and developed their Malaysian identities and uniqueness, so are the Indian cuisine etc. Even some of the Malay cuisine have also been influenced by other cultures! Malaysia is a melting pot where the cultures of various ethnic groups are influencing one another.

Did your kids play with the water in the wadding pool in the KLCC park, it's free, it's just next to the playground area.
They did! They had so much fun. It was pretty crowded so I didn't film it, but the wading pool was excellent!

I agree with slow travel. Some travellers do not take up the 90 days + 90 days free visa here. In my opinion it is a privilege to travellers. But they rush within a month or days. Probably due to budget constraints. You have two children. They need rest instead of taking buses, trains, grab , ferries every alternate days. They will be burnt out.
I agree! We had the luxury of a little over 2 weeks to explore. We visited Osaka and Seoul earlier in the year just for a few days at a time and it was a bit of a struggle. I am glad we spent the extended vacation in KL though. Such a great place for kids!

I have! I love satay. The kids really enjoyed the food we ate in Malaysia. It was a relief. It is difficult to get them to eat sometimes.

You made the right choice by taking it slow. There are many hidden places to discover in Kuala Lumpur. Chinese food in Malaysia has its own unique version, which can't be found in China.
We enjoyed every activity we did. The food was also so tasty!
Since you are travelling with kids, I suggest u bring them to SUNWAY LAGOON. 😊

We stayed at the Robertson in Bukit Bintang through AirBnB. It was a great location!

Would you consider moving to Malaysia? Have you also found since moving from Canada how is the affordability?
I would consider moving to Malaysia! There are very good international schools there. It is a very liveable city. While I miss my family, it has been a relief to be outside of Canada. Everything is much more affordable. Korea is quite expensive but it still does not compare to Canada. We absolutely made the right choice to leave, financially we have so much more freedom and our money goes further. We could barely afford to drive to the grocery store in Canada, but now we can afford to go on international vacations (cheaper than it would be for transportation to Newfoundland from Nova Scotia).
If you carried the plate of fried rice back to him , and asked for "chili oil" , he'ld give you a strong hot pepper for free. If it' s Malay or Indian fried rice or fried noodles , all curries you see can be added for free , if you don't add the meat to the plate. Sauces are generally free of charge , across the races in Malaysia , all towns. Chinese , if you asked for chilli they give you chilli dip , if you asked for chilli oil , you get a thick chilli cooked in oil or coconut , for free. If you took the plate of rice to the buffet set and told the Indian guy "banjir" he'ld flood the rice with 5 or 7 currries ,for free. If it's Malay the condiments in bowls near the counter are free , except the green salads. Curry sauce is also free. I don't like them because I cannot taste through that stuff.

Dominic almost exclusively eats rice with a spoon, it was even weird to edit him eating it with a fork. I appreciate you noticed that lol.
That is possibly the only time in my life I have eaten rice with a fork. I am staunchly anti-fork when it comes to rice. What happened was we were bowl swapping with the kids for noodles and rice to share. I was using one of the kids noodles forks because I didn't want to make more dirty dishes for people to clean up haha. If I'm at home I would definitely go swap for a spoon. Won't happen again! Haha -Dom
