Roy Orbison - A talent beyond words. He said in an interview once when asked how he'd like to be remembered, that he'd just like to be remembered. Well Roy, you sure are.
The only singer to sound as good live as he does on record. Proud to say my 4 yr old son recognises his voice straight away and tries his little heart out to sing along to Crying. :-)
Thank you for uploading this. The Big O might just be the greatest singer I've ever heard. I'm only 26 but I wish more people could get exposure to this kind of music.
+CashPresley32 Well if cash was alive he would tell you that roy was the greatest singer ever and i think he knows better than you lol, most top stars say that roy is the best so there must be something in that,i seen cash 3 times live and he was great, but i seen roy 16 times and he was amazing,WE ALL HAVE OUR OPINIONS BUT AT THE END OF THE DAY YOU GOT TO LISTEN TO THE PEOPLE THAT KNOW BEST.
edward owen I never heard Johnny Cash list Roy as an influence in any of his interviews. His influences were the Carter Family, Jimmie Rodgers, Hank Williams, Ernest Tubb, etc.
@OORVOKKI, you´re welcome! I also downloaded it on tube some years ago and it disappeared meanwhile. So it was time for a re-up. =o) Btw, before I found it I never thought he ever sang this wonderful (and really difficult to sing) song live. Unfortunately on the disc-version the orchestra is too loud and his voice disappears in the background.
Gosh imagine asking Roy to abbreviate only the lonely and pretty woman. That's just robing the audience.. Not sure Roy likes Johnny Cash that much! Two legends though
Hi, thanks for your comment. During the last decades several great singers came on the scene, just take one example from this watch?v=ykMMmbEKDPs singer from Argentina who sings country crap in Germany - what a waste of talent! Imagine he would have followed Orbison´s way. Rossi sings better than Roy, and louder, and more intense. Never thought I´d ever say this, but the world develops... Rossi cannot write good songs, so Roy´s work over the decades is worth much more - but the voice, hm...
Yes OK good. But Roy is a sweet gentle soul by nature, shy. He sang with a mixture of soft and vulnerableness. With effertless power as needed. And he was cool. A great musician. One of the founders of Rock in Roll.

Yes he hurried through Pretty Woman!!! Ran out of time!! Not good !!
Not hurried as that would have been a time slot he had to fit into.
