Awesome vid. Sighting in is so fun when you get in the sweet spot, such as the gray center of your targets. I had that feeling today, checking zero on my hunting rifle for the season. I have a TC Compass II in .308 Win and a Vortex 6x-24x / 50 mm FFP (from a previous rifle) on it and shooting off my Caldwell bag. Right on the crosshair at 100 yards. With a hot barrel. And the cold barrel was less than an inch from that. In fact, I went through two ammos. Super cheap and gucci Accu-Nosler. Anyway, learning to appreciate the big straight walls, like the .450 Bush Master. My favorite optics is Vortex and they have a Straight Wall BDC in a Crossfire II. Goes out ot 300 yards, the average effective range of .450 Bush Master, .350 Legend, and .45-70 Government. Of course, Leopold as the Freedom .350 Legend. But you could use any scope if you print a drop sheet and true the reticle to your particular data. 95 percent of big game hunting, deer up to moose, is in wooded areas less than 300 yards, often less than that. A big round like this, moving at about 2200 fps with an expanding tip has a greater chance to get into the target and stay there and do the work to drop the beast. That is, you are more likely to drop a moose with this .45 BM than you would with a .30-06 SPRG 180 grain traveling at 2800 fps or faster. If I do get one, I am torn. I have two Mossbergs that are great. And I have some Windham Weaponry rifles that are great. And they have a semi-auto they call the the 450 Thumper specifically geared toward the deer hunter. The other advantage you have with this rifle is that you can, in fact, hunt from whitetail deer up to moose and even black bear, something normally in the realm of say, a .300 Winchester Short Magnum. Or a .300 Winchester Magnum. Good hunting and share with us any harvests you get.
