Some context; Queen wrote this for the movie "Highlander", which is about an immortal man named Conor MacCloud. This song plays as he watches his wife grow old and die while he stays the same age. It's the most heartbreaking part of the film.
Totally agree Seamus!!
Love that movie even with Sean Connery not changing his accent to play a Spaniard lol
This song for me is even more emotional since Freddie passed 😭
Can I ask is your profile pic Patrick troughton as the 2nd Dr who? If so that's cool🙂
Sounds like a remake may be in the working. Henry Cavill seems to be on board for it. If they do it, they need to keep the Queen music onboard.
@@rhiahlMT really? I hadn't heard that yet ta for letting me know! I like Henry he can obvs handle a sword.
I agree they would have to keep the music! Who now a days could do something so good that fits with the film unless they dramatically change the film which then may well be a flop?
@@sarablack2547 The news turned up on the Facebook Highlander page about 2 weeks ago??? We'll see if it comes to fruition.
@@rhiahlMT oh ok not on Facebook will look out to see if story gathers pace.i will be v interested to see if it happens and if they mess with it! With all the marvel stuff thinking Dr strange, Scarlett witch that it could be popular?!
“There can be only one.”
“It’s better to burn out than fade away.” (Kurgan) 😁
I loved the entire b side of that album
Connor McCloud of the clan McCloud, is that you?
@@rustycalloway1814 NO, I’m Debra Moore of the clan Moore! ⚔️🛡
"GIMMIE THE PRIZE!"
when you get to my age (66) you hear this song in a whole new way. Kind of sad you miss the message of the words, but you are young and have not lost a lot of people in your life yet. You shall hopefully grow very old and understand this song better.
True. I really agree 🌺
😔💝✌😎
Amen. I'm 61. 60s are the hardest. Less life left to live than you have already lived.
@@KMK926 Now that you put it that way, I'm starting to tear up, again!
This song has broken my heart since I saw Highlander in the theater, way back when.
ALL HAIL THE MIGHTY FREDDY MERCURY MAY HE FOREVER REST IN PEACE!
*Freddie but true he’s a god🔥
And his and Queens music ‘Live Forever’ too!!!
Actually Brian May wrote this one. And sang quite a bit of it too.
You may like the film Highlander Queen did the soundtrack... Is about 35-years old now but still good !✌️🇬🇧
I still think this song has a double meaning as I can’t believe that Freddie didn’t know he had been infected with the HIV virus by this point and therefore must have also informed his fellow band mates of the situation. Especially when you look at the lyrics as they are so pertinent to both situations, the films background story, and Freddie’s diagnosis too, even though it still took a further 5 years for it to come out about Freddie having AIDS as he didn’t divulge it until the week he was actually in hospital and dying which is truly poignant and thus oh so very sad too!
The first Highlander was really fantastic. Queens collection from the film is so underrated.
Aged a fair bit but still a good film. Watched it recently for the 1st time in about 20 years.
Slow songs /emotional songs aren't automatically "love songs" as you call them, just saying 🤷♂️
Bro, you owe it to yourself to watch the movie Highlander! You would be an outstanding reactor to it. You mentioned opera; the entire soundtrack is performed by Queen, and each song is for the specific scene. That's prob why you haven't heard it
No spoilers, and don't cheat, but it's and 80 scifi/action movie, with Sean Connery and a lot of others. It's worth it. If you make a reaction, I swear I'm going to blast you on to all my friends on social plats. We love it! Always fun to see someone watch something for the first time. "No cap" haha. Keep up the good work.
One of my favorite pieces of Highlander lore is that Queen was initially only supposed to do the theme song of the movie. They received an advance copy of the film and loved it so much that they decided to do the entire soundtrack! That's how the world was blessed with Who Wants to Live Forever, Princes of the Universe (theme song of the later Highlander tv show), A Kind of Magic, Gimme the Prize, and basically the entire A Kind of Magic album!
One of the best albums and soundtracks ever. Highlander is a Queen journey and it just wouldn’t be the same movie without the music. I loved that film back in the 80s.
You should check out Guns N Roses, “Knockin On Heaven’s Door” live at Wembley Stadium 1992. It was at the Freddie Mercury tribute concert.
Yeah and paradise city live at wembley 1992 to
If memory serves me right, JoJo already has done so!
I never clicked anything faster in my life so happy you've done this
This has been in the movie, Highlander, and in the tv show. Epic moments with the immortal main characters.
There will never be another like Freddie Mercury. One of the most pure and absolutely beautiful voices the world has ever known. Raw power, genuine emotion. The ability to control hundreds of thousands of people with just his voice. And together with Queen... .they were just unstoppable. They dominated. They still dominate to this day. This song is just so powerful. Even by itself without the context of the film it was written for.
Queen is my favorite band. When Freddie was near death from Aids nobody thought he had the strength to sing anymore, they were recording their album Innuendo and it was time to record the show must go on.
Freddie being the absolute titan that he is chugged a shot of vodka and said "i'll fucking do it darling" and nailed the song in one take.
When my number is up I hope I face death with half the dignity and strength Freddie did.
If you like opera-like songs, try Barcelona or The Golden Boy by Freddie Mercury and Montesserat Caballe. There’s a whole album of masterpieces.
But for opera with an attitude try BOHEMIAN RHAPSODY!!!!
That is what an Orchestra and instruments do to all of us. They hit our soul!!
U got it right - this song was the soundtrack for the movie 'Highlander' back in the 80's... Brian May (guitar) wrote the song and sang lead w/ Freddie on it.
Your reactions make my heart smile SOOOOO much. Freddie saved me from depression ten years ago, when eye saw no way out. Queen saved me and seeing how he affects people to this day makes me so so happy.
This song gives me chills!! 💗🔥
I'm sure you would like the song "Princes of the Universe," which is also from the Highlander movie. As Freddie sings in that one: "We've come to be the rulers of you all!"
YESSSS 🙏🏻🙏🏻
Better still: Gimme the prize!
Queen, they were the Kings.
This song was for the highlander movie. It was one epic film
Love the shirt kiddo!! So proud of how your broadening your musical horizons!! Freddie would be too!
On the movie highlander, this song played on its saddest scene.
It was perfect!
It was definitely sad yet beautiful and I cried during that scene
I feel ya baby,I have a reputation as a badass, but I cried at that part,no one made fun either.
Yes,it was.
Goodnight, my bonny Heather.
It's great seeing a youngster appreciating the music and talent displayed by this fantastic band. Their music will definitely live forever!!!
😂 Yes Freddie could have been a oprah Star ⭐!!!
He did sing with one before he died!!! 👍👍
You need to watch the movie this song goes with. It's called The Highlander starring Christopher Lambert and the late great Sean Connery.
I second that 😀 the highlander is awesome and queen do all the songs for the movie
Thier album It Kind of Magic is my favorite. This song and several others from movies the made music for is on it. Want to here Queen to heavier rock? Check out Princes of the Universe and Kurgans Theme!
"I have something to say! It's better to burn out than to fade away!"
Hey Jojo, when you mentioned that this song sounded like it was in a movie
That's because it was in a movie, specifically, the movie "Highlander"
A Kind of Magic is my favorite Queen album. The first Highlander was such a fun movie, and I love how the music tells the story. The Kurgan's theme is a great villain song.
One song you could try is Humans Being by Van Halen, it was part of the Twister soundtrack from the Twister movie from 1996. It starts out as strong, goes as a smooth solo then back to heavy metal.
Jojo reacted to The Show Must Go On about 10 months back. :)
Damn.
The album version ending is totally different and much longer. It’s pretty epic, so check it out on Spotify.
I love this song. Brian wrote this as one of the songs of the soundtrack for the movie Highlander. The major character in the movie is immortal and this song is about his sadness because if he falls in love, his love will eventually die, and he will once again have to live alone and with the heartache of loss. Love the shirt. Thank you for this reaction.
Another spectacular song from Queen. Serious song and Brian's guitar was singing right with Freddie. Roger so into it. Love Queen forever!
Thank you for that GORGEOUS reaction to this Epic song. It means so much to me and my family. We played it at our beloved Stepfather's funeral, it was so powerful through that complete silence. He really was where he needed to be
When you see the movie you will understand the meaning. Otherwise you're just left with conjecture. 🤯🤭
Wonderful reaction. This song just fills you up. It's so stunningly beautiful
Best QUEEN / HIGHLANDER SONG IS- PRINCES OF THE UNIVERSE + MUSIC VIDEO
YESSSS 🙏🏻🙏🏻
That Shirt ROCKS....Jealous!
You need to listen to a Live Version of this as well. It’s AMAZING live
Love this sing. The end of Freddie's life. So apropos. So lucky to see them in 1975 when I was 15. Love and miss Freddie.
JoJo, you need to find the full song and react to it. The ending is so good you can't deny yourself listening to it.
I love how you and your whole family love queen
i’m so happy you came back with Queen! we miss you dear jojo😅 😊 Live at Wembley is another level of powerful Freddie’s vocal😎This song was one of the soundtrack in Highlander Movie, Check out “Princess of the Universe” Freddie’s vocal is on fire!🤘🏻
Thanks for Coming back with Queen😅👑
Great Reaction as always😊
Love your shirt!
The song was made for the movie “Highlander” about an immortal who loses the love of his life yet still chooses to go on and do great things. Good movie. Immortality is shown to be a curse, with loss/death giving meaning to every moment we have. Brian May captured the power of that idea in this song.
get the extended version on the album. There's a final line often not included in the covers because it raises doubts about a timeless love, "Who waits forever, anyway?"'
You have to watch “The Highlander” ... “There can be only one!” This song will make sense.
Too Much Love Will Kill You by Queen. There's two versions of the song, the first was released by guitarist Brian May for his 1992 solo album Back To The Light. It was later released in 1995 Made In Heaven album by Queen. It's one of my many favourite songs by the band. Honestly, I love both versions.
This song is for a Highlander movie plus as an intro for the Highlander TV show I'd suggest to watch it its amazing
His music helps him live forever… and we all love it forever… RIP Freddie
This makes me cry 😭 every time I hear it 😢
This guy ain't a queen fan until he hears The days of our lives
Please no i dont want him to cry he aint ready
You're right to think of this in a movie setting...but it's not as uplifting as you described.
Queen did the soundtrack to the first Highlander movie, which is about these beings that are essentially immortal but are only killed by another of their kind (or something like that, I've only seen it once).
This song plays as the hero of the film reflects on his past lover that ended up growing old and dying while he was still young and with years to come. It raises the question of whether or not eternal life is worth watching all your loved ones growing old and dying around you.
This song from the Wembley concert '86 & Queen + Adam Lambert, Isle of Wight 2014. Both are amazing live performances.
"Who wants to live forever, when love must die." "This world has only one sweet moment set aside for us" How long is that moment? Is is a second, a minute, a year, a lifetime? I think the world is giving me my moment right now. Watching my kids grow, and playing with my grandkids. And growing old with my wife of 30yrs.
There is so much in the lyrics of this song, young JoJo.
Anyone else like to hear the band
- James - being reacted to?
Or, how about The Manic Street Preachers? They have written many an anthem themselves but also many politically based songs and about Wales too. I personally am English but also like James Dean Bradfield, their lead singer, I am a big Nottingham Forest Fan too! He should check out ‘Motorcycle Emptiness’, ‘Suicide is Painless’, the theme tune from MASH, though not the original version of course as the Manics were only formed in the latter part of the 1980’s. They have also had many fantastic albums with Headline hits from them too which are well worth checking out as they have released 14 albums and come September they will be releasing another one too. They have also just released their new single ‘Orwellian’ which is yet another awesome track well worth giving a listen and watch, great video too! Check them all out and let me know what you think too?
No one can believe that Brian’s hair is naturally like that. Even his hair is talented.
Man live a 1985 is so iconic and obviously I mean I was born in 1985 but there’s something about queen is always hooked me in and Freddy got me through some tough stuff I have now masks are Freddie Mercury phone case all his books from Jim Hutton in the picture book and all this other stuff posters I have everything canvases what a legend in such an amazing talented voice, And the fact that he literally saying all the way up until he died from AIDS is so commendable because nobody knew it for a long time and honestly I think Bohemian Rhapsody was based on him having aids RIP Freddie your still loved a missed
Do slither by velvet Revolver!!! Or wicked garden by stone temple pilots!
This song was written by guitarist Brian May. Just one of the songs written for the movie Highlander by Queen.
I still get chills every time I hear this song.
This song is about mortality
Another great song from this movie is “It’s a Kind of Magic” and “Princes of the Universe”.
Yes Queen is back 👍
This was for the movie Highlander.
Как же это красиво, божественно!!! Мурашки от голоса Фредди Меркьюри)
Yess. You are back with Queen!
Loved your reaction
I've noticed you do 80's rock. I e got a brand for you to react to. Tesla is the band and the song is "Modern Day Cowboy". Please do this, you'll love it!!!
Omg so much good Tesla how'd u pick just one?! Lol
Downloaded IG just to follow you! You're so adorable!
Remember - Brian is a genius - without his writing there would not be a Freddie shining in this way.
All there music IS great!
5:24 is an epic LFR JoJo moment. Your joy is infectious and beautiful to see young man.
👍🏻 you nailed this reaction 😊 loved your enthusiasm... when Freddie ...took off :) :)
Now that is what I call a true classic Rock Hymne 🙌
You are sounding surprised about the orchestra.
But you need to remember that this was written for the movie Highlander which may help to explain the use of the orchestra on this particular track.
wow your wonderful i actually reacted the same way hey it's Freddie but you made me smile so much i love punching the air and feeling it x
So agreed with you... 100% 💯 I also don't remember hearing this song before, and I Love Queen!
Such a cool song and fit in the highlander movie so well, watching him watch heather slowly grow old and die its so sad
Like others have said, you have to watch Highlander to get this song, originally they were commissioned to do one song "Princes of the Universe" but after seeing the first screening of the movie Freddy Mercury insisted on doing the whole soundtrack, the album is called "Some kind of Magic"
Jojo: yeah the song was pretty good
also jojo: 5:55
Love the shirt.
Freddie and Queen cant get any better than that.
Queen - We Will Rock You / We Are The Champions (Wembley July 12, 1986)
The Movie 'Highlander' They did the entire soundtrack for that movie. This song is just a very small part to a 2 1/2 hour long mini opera from Highlander. I highly suggest that you watch that movie so you can hear the entirety of this song.
Great reaction, made me laugh. 😀
This song is actually from the Highlander soundtrack. In the movies it actually is about 10 minutes if you watch the movie.
The song was in a solemn 😔part of the movie. The movie was filmed in Scotland, England, New York. A man like yourself should really love the movie. I say you'll love it because how you react to song's. It's short because it was played in the middle of the movie. Queen did the whole soundtrack. Watch and react to it.
I have already ordered my family to play this at my funeral.
please check out wind of change by scorpions you won’t regret it!
Hey man, you've heard three out of four of the Big Four: Metallica, Megadeth, & Slayer! Now try the fourth - Anthrax! I'd start with Time off of The Persistence of Time!
👍
'I'm The Man' (uncensored version) is the first one I heard of theirs (many, many moons ago), 'Caught In A Mosh' was the second, and I was hooked ever since, 👍😁👍
FINALLYY SOME QUEEN AGAINNNN!!!
This has been my absolute favorite song by Queen.
Freddie looked sharp in that suit.
You should do this song from Wembley 96. It really showcases Freddies vocals to the fullest.
This was the last song for the last album that Freddie Mercury recorded before he passed
Queen, m8 did all the music for The movie Highlander on an album Called "its a kinda Magic"....cheers from Downunder!!
btw its the song from the move Highlander from 86 ore 85 (i am from germany and we had it 86) with Christopher Lambert and damien leake who is a actor but loocs like a famous black Jazz singer and sax player. Oh and it was the good by song for Freddy becous he knows he has aids
WHERE HAVE YOU BEEN? You got at least 150 more Queen songs to go!! 🤣🤣
This song was written by Brian May for the Highlander movie! Each member of Queen wrote a song or two for the soundtrack. You should definitely try & watch that movie it’s pretty good starring Sean Connery, Christopher Lambert, & Clancy Brown (the voice for Mr. Krabs in Spongebob) 😂 Anyway, Brian also wrote GIMME THE PRIZE, Freddie wrote PRINCES OF THE UNIVERSE, Roger wrote A KIND OF MAGIC & DON’T LOSE YOUR HEAD, & John wrote ONE YEAR OF LOVE!
Love the T-shirt! Your reaction to the song ending so abruptly was right. The song doesn't actually end there, there's still a minute or so to go (I don't know why the video ends when it does). You can catch the whole song in this video which includes clips of "Highlander", the film for which the song was written. Incidentally, Queen wrote many other songs for (and inspired by) the film, which can be found on their album "A Kind Of Magic".
