Veteran MX racer and two stroke loving legend Nev Bradshaw has been up to his old tricks again! Nev surprised everyone when he turned up at the first round of the 2022 Revo ACU British Motocross Championship with a 2005 RM 250 as his weapon of choice to take on the Young guns and their modern four strokes! - Sport
At 50 years old i just can't get used to the sound of 4 stroke race bikes.
For some reason I get the filling that riding a 4 stroke motocross bike is simular to riding on my riding lawnmower !
Same here, i still got my 1996 CR250R, she's got a real personnality while those 4 stroke are flat.
Well electric bikes are coming..
I'm 63, same problem. Theres something seriously wrong with it. I hear guys complaining about "keeping it on the pipe"? That's best part of it!
Agreed, I don't hit the MX or supercross because I have zero interest in the 4 strokes.

@@justincoats7236 kx 500 spring. 88 rear end with disc brake and I've got 2014. Yz 250 front end going on that's like 2 times the size. Cant post pictures here or I would. Lol
My kx500 has been broken for like 3 years now, but while it was running it would always edge out my brothers 450 on just about anything. Can’t imagine what a modern day kx500 would be like.

I’m am from the USA and I’m am a big fan of Suzuki motorcycle because I rode 2 strokes bikes when I was grown up back in the states, before they were RM.
fantastic effort from Nev as always good to see him holding his own it looked a hard one with those ruts, 2 strokes forever!
The track claimed many a victim that weekend, but Nev's wise head and veteran race craft kept him upright and saw him finish in front of so many fast young guns...wisdom does beat enthusiasm in the long run i think! ;-) Thanks for watching Franco

I think your right, he'd only ridden it for 15 minutes beforehand. Amazing really - the track was gnarly too!
If you don't have much name recognition, racing an old two-stroke would be a great way to get attention. There are shops that can make these things very fast.
@@justincoats7236 I have to agree with you. An old factory style engine tech can really change the power curve to suit conditions. A-kit suspension would make him a regional dream crasher.
That is great but in the USA nationals / sx, you can only race a 125 2-stroke against the 250 4-strokes which is a huge difference. If ol Stank Dog could ride his 250 2-stroke with the 250 4-strokes, I think he would freaking rip! I think we'd also see a lot more 2-strokes.

he should be in front easily , 250 4strokes are way slower than 250 2strokes . i think the rider's age has more to do than the bike's age XD

Use to be able to do the 2stroke 250 in the 250 class at Loretta’s and such, Malcom Stewart did it when he started really gettin into racing again on one of James’s old bikes (or maybe just the motor) and they allowed it, like in Canada. But don’t think it’s allowed anymore unfortunately, but not too sure.

Watching that old RM tear things up with the newer bikes brought back memories from when i raced an RM in the late 90s. 2 strokes ftw!
Hats off to Nev that track was rutted and harsh on a machine he had very little to no time on. Says alot about the man and the machine. Truly awesome.

Years ago I had a KX500 mxer. Most fun dirt bike I ever had. Amazing. The scary thing was when you got in trouble the best way to straighten it up was to hit the gas then grab another gear. Pretty soon you were in 5th gear going wide open 70 mph with no more gears to go. That's when it got squirrely.

I have an 89 250 I just restored,for sale,rebuilt 91 inverted forks,rebuilt ,terracoated shock,engine new mains,seals,gaskets,top end has maybe an hour on it.
Raced my rm last weekend still smiling!!😎✊💨

I love two strokes... and sad they went away. I still ride a CR5 and just love it... it is a very solid machine and always works perfectly with plenty of power.
I had an 06 and loved the thing. Really responsive and tractable power. Very cool guys!

It's funny, I don't think the new bikes are that much better. Back in the day, I had a 10 year old 2001 RM 250 two-stroke. My buddy had a brand new 2011 RM 450. I rode it and was thinking, it's not much better.

We need a 2 stroke classes 4 strokes are way too expensive to keep running for racing on a budget .
Not to mention you can rebuild a top end on a 2 stroke in 45 mins and significantly cheaper than a 4 stroke.
Yeah 2 stroke guy as well but that’s not happening
Racing isn’t a sport for people on a budget
@@LilSebastian_ not to mention you need to rebuild a 2stroke 8hrs vs a 4stroke 20 hrs.
Modern competition motocross bikes in general are too expensive to run on a budget. Have you considered vintage racing?
I remember Neville Bradshaw even he was racing the 250cc Grands Prix. He was always fast. And he traded it even the 250cc class has become the dominant class when meant of the 500cc to guys raced the 250 instead.
That RM was a super model is love to spend a day with. Everyone loves the 2 Strokes.

Nice work! Ive always wanted to build one of the last gen r.250s. Looked at a few but havent found the right one just yey.
He should come to the USA and race that bike at Loretta Lynn nationals in the +40, +50 class. Last year Jeff Emig raced a Husky 150 2stroke finished 2nd overall behind Mike Brown on a 450 Husky 4stroke, and Ryan Hughes raced a 1986 Honda CR 250.

Wicked Video, what a legend on the 2 smoker. If you have ever rode both you know the difference in riding 4 stroke and 2 stroke and got to give nev the upmost respect for his efforts. I will never part with my 2005 cr250, she is a beauty. My ktm 300 does not compare. Mmm 2 Stroke in the morning 😂

As a former '02 RM250 owner (it was stolen from me 2 yrs ago 😡😡) this makes my day! The last gen of RM250 were amazing bikes, and I had planned to put the modern plastics on it just like this...it looks amazing! I had a Bill's Pipe, Phat Head High Compression Head, re-valved suspension, and a vforce, and the bike was so good! I was always a 125 guy until I started racing the age classes (+25, +30 etc.) where i was racing guys on 450s and having to pass them after a mid-pack start was getting old, so I decided to try a 250 and had no problems from then on! I think I just typed myself into bying another one lol.
What a great performance. It shows the quality of them two strokes aswell. Atleast KTM and Yamaha realise the important of that market. Kinda odd to see Kawi and Honda and Suzuki watching on the sidelines. I wonder how the mind of them bosses in japan really goes, do they even consider?

Fun Fact: the original Honda CR Elsinore was built in secret because of Mr. Honda's hatred of 2-strokes.

He even once famously said that they would never build a 2-stroke. He eventually changed his tune.
Considering suzuki hasn’t even updated the rmz engine in a long time I doubt we will see another 2 smoker from them ever again. I think most brands are looking towards the electric bikes I hope yamaha and ktm still continue to make 2 strokes for a long time

I restored it completely with new black powder coated frame, the full yellow restyle kit and a plain blue seat. Wanted gold wheels and fork tubes, but was a bit expensive. :) So pretty!

I have a retired 1991 RM 250 Race Bike , was shipped from South Africa . It only runs on race fuel and is a perfect fast huge suspension monster !

Right on dude ! ! ! That was one tough track, 2 stroke can still beat 4 stroke given a smoother track, no disrespect to 4 strokes but given the rain and the ruts, 4 strokes had the advantage, I raced 2 strokes in the mid 80s to 90s, but no way I can keep that pace anymore, my hat is off to you and taking a bow, there is nothing like bringing a 2 stroke to a 4 stroke party, lol

I am a 50 year old kid. I still ride my 99 honda cr 250 w/ 267 stroker kit. The most fun I ever had on a bike
I grew up on 2 stroke dirt bikes and in my mind they are the only true dirt bikes.

The only reason 2strokes "left" was because Honda didn't want to make them.
They added enough smoke to get capacity advantages that meant people racing had to go 4stroke.
The buying public have have dealt with the cost of all the hype around 4strokes and are making the choice to go to the more cost effective 2 stroke for their play bike ( the biggest buying market).

Love this. But, having raced a KX250 2- stroke in the Southern California desert, I can say there were no 250 4-strokes that were faster than a 250 2-stroke. And, the 2- stroke had a distinct advantage with the dead engine start. Did 250 4- strokes beat me? Yes, but that was because the riders were faster than me, not the bike. A 250 2- stroke with an equivalent youthful rider should smoke any and all of the 250 4- strokes.
I had that bike. I loved it .
I also still have my 1993 Honda Cr250 in pretty good condition if you want to race it in a future video.
