- This is a short video of a fawn we rescued. This is a small clip from an older video, but we thought just a couple minutes hanging out with this little guy without the storyline would be pretty relaxing.
If you are interested, here's the story . . .
Late in the evening a friend knocked on our door with a new born baby deer in her arms, not more than an hour old. She found the mother dead from a car accident, and the baby must have popped out of the mother during the accident. The tiny baby buck laid in his mother's blood on the side of the road. Our friend Angelea cleaned off most of the blood, and her and her mother Sakkara wrapped up the baby in a towel to bring it over to us. Without a mother, the fawn had little chance for survival, but we were determined to see her through the night until we could contact a local woman who is licensed to raise orphaned deer.
UPDATE: Rescued baby deer are released after maturity where they are found, and this little guy actually came from a nearby herd, not ours, so we haven't seen the guy again. We are comforted to know, however, that deer are amazing in their ability to survive great hardship.

I love this. When i lived in Montana, i name a whitetail mother Sissy. She had 3 fawns follow her around. They would walk right in and take apples off the table. Eventually we had heards of females and fawns just playing in the yard with the kids, dogs and cats. Best time of my life. We had hundreds of elk bed down out back also.
Here’s hoping that Shanti grows up big and strong!
Been waiting for a new upload! You are a godsend!
Videos like this makes me feel that our ancestors had much better unity and connection with animals in general

How long do you wait before you realize it's an orphan?
If you read the video's info, you'll see that, sadly, the mother was killed in a car accident, and friends of ours found the fawn at the scene of the accident.
@@PelorianPages oh I see! I'm sorry you're right! I usually do read it first too. If that wasn't the case though, how long would you wait? I am really curious because I would think after 2 hours maybe?
@@LVioletta1 If we come across a fawn, we assume the mother just left it there in hiding, and it could be half a day before the mother returns to check on it. That's usually the case. One time Marlis found a fawn in the brush and the fawn made the tiniest softest cry. About 15 seconds later the mother came running through the woods. We knew the mother quite well, and so Marlis just turned towards the mother and calmly said, "Hi Eva." Eva dug her hooves into the ground and came to a sudden stop in a cloud of dust. Seeing that it was Marlis and not a predator or some stranger, Eva just calmly walked over to Marlis and fawn. Stood for a few minutes, and then she started licking the fawn, getting it to stand up so she could give it some milk. If you find a fawn alone somewhere, it's best just to leave it there. Maybe check back later in the day, but it's very common for fawns to spend a lot of time in hiding, waiting for mom to return.
@@PelorianPages thank you! Good to know?!
How do you get so. Close to deer like that the closest I’ve been is 10 meters and they would play with my dog but deer are super ski fish how?
Feed them apples and patients. Eventually you can scratch and play with them. They must trust you which takes time.
@@diezelvh4133 feeding them patients sounds like a good way to get your medical license revoked...
Animals=stoicism
Humans=egotism
Is this the one from a few years back or a new one?
Aah yes just spotted the link in the description. I don't remember the fawn being named though
This is a short clip from the older video. We just wanted this short scene of Shanti without all the explanation. It just seemed like a really nice 2 minutes.
@@PelorianPages absolutely, it's amazing 😁 did he ever return?
A DRAFT!! {:
Pls can you keep making vids
Bin ich der einzige der in ein paar anderen Videos ganz kurz mal ein Deutsches Wort oder einen Deutschen Akzent rausgehört hat oder träum ich das nur?
