  • South Korea has condemned a defense pact that North Korea signed with Russia earlier this week. The foreign ministry called it a threat to "peace and stability on the Korean peninsula". Seoul summoned Russia's ambassador to the foreign ministry to discuss its concerns. While the details of the military pact are still unclear, South Korea is worried that it could encourage North Korean aggression. Seoul announced in response that it was considering sending weapons to Ukraine to support its defense against Russia.

      If Russia gives North Korea tech to advance their nuclear and long range rocket and drone capabilities, South Korea will answer by sending heavy weaponry such as tanks, howitzers and IFV’s and its own long range rockets and cruise missiles/ guided bombs to Ukraine.
      And now that they have to face a possible increased nuclear armament from the north, they’ll develop nuclear weapons. They’ve seen what happened in Ukraine a country that gave up its nuclear weapons.
      What do you people not understand about actions having consequences ?
      You can’t simply invade other sovereign territories without signaling the entire world it’s time for strife by military force again.
      It all happened after Putin DESPITE being warned by Germany and all European major powers decided to gamble all out in Ukraine. It’s his fault the world is now on the brink of WW3. The Middle East is in chaos, Europe has war, East Asia has a civil war going on and is on the brink of a major escalation in the South China Sea.
      It’s no coincidence that wars that have seemingly nothing to do with each other break out at the same time. People with malicious intentions get incited by increased wolrd instability. It happened before ww1 and before ww2. If this continues we’ll have a world war within the next 2 decades.
      It could be simply stopped right now with white peace, signing agreements that ensure it’s validated by nuclear force if necessary, but Putin PERSONALLY can’t take it because of HIS ego. What else does this nonsense in North Korea do other than expand the nations already involved in armed conflicts, because he simply can’t take responsibility for HIS miscalculation and the enormous loss of life. Why are Russian Generals being purged ? Why is the Russian defense minister suddenly being purged ? Because ONE person will and cannot take responsibility for his own insistence on starting this.

    It's a real irony that 70 years ago, the Korean war was the first proxy war fought between the Soviet Union and the U.S., and now 70 years later, the 2 Koreas are to be involved in the proxy war in Ukraine, which used to be a part of the Soviet Union.
    The bloody conflict in Korea ended in 1953 on the basis of the armistice signed between the U.S., on behalf of South Korea and itself, and North Korea on the other side. The terms of the armistice include the removal of all foreign military forces from the Korean peninsula, and that no new weapon systems would be introduced into the arena.
    More than 70 years later, and the U.S. remains the only foreign military force still stationed in Korea, and never stopped introducing new weapon systems, the latest being the THAAD and the F35s, altering the military balance between the 2 Koreas, in direct violation of the terms in the armistice signed by the U.S. The U.S. and South Korea regularly conduct massive military exercises as a show of force. Small wonder that North Korea feels the need to develop a nuclear deterrent for its security.
    When Kim gets his hands on hypersonic missiles and ICBMs, I am sure they will sleep better in Seoul and Washington.

General William Harrison and General Mark Clark, on behalf of the U.S., U.N. and South Korean forces. Kim Il Sung and General Nam Il for the North Korean side, and General Peng De Huai for the Chinese forces. You can find plenty of archival documents and film footage online, including those in the U.S. Department of Defense. The text is widely available online as are the U.S. continued violations of its terms.

      @@davidlee9493 So why do you claim that the armistice contained a section on the withdrawal of all foreign forces from the Korean peninsula? And as you can copy and paste from Wikipedia, you can answer your own question on why America no longer considers itself bound by paragraph 13d, which it announced in 1957.

    • @davidlee9493
      @davidlee9493 Před 6 dny

      @@nigelgarrett7970 Yes. That was my mistake. What Article 13c actually states is that the foreign forces be withdrawn to a level of no more than 35K on each side. The foreign forces on the North Korean side have all left and the U.S. forces still remain. Although the U.S. forces in Korea today is at a level that is in compliance with 13c, it was maintained at a level well above the 35K limit for decades after the war, violating both the spirit and the letter of the armistice agreement.

    Time for South Korea to go all in with military support for Ukraine. Russia chose to side against South Korea in their war. South Korea takes such aggression very seriously because it is an existential threat. Poland is already buying vast amounts of military equipment from South Korea. It would be a simple matter to send some of the same systems to Ukraine and leverage the local maintenance and supply network in Poland.
