In this video, I’ll show you a method for quick inspiration! To get in the zone and take better photos.
I take my best photos when I'm alert, vigilant, and present. That's being in the zone. We all know this place in life. It makes the world more vibrant and we are locked into to a kind of intuition. In this space, you see photos everywhere. Street photographers often wait for things to happen, hoping for the best. I’m not waiting around for things to happen I make it happen. Fear holds us back from truly seeing and being in the zone. Overcome that fear, create that space now!
Challenge yourself by approaching 3 strangers for a portrait. This is not about the images, but the process to wake up and get in the zone. Embrace discomfort to push boundaries. It's the street photography equivalent of an ice bath, awakening your senses. This process isn't about photos, it's about being in a space to see great shots everywhere."

Yes I did enjoy the CZcams video cheers mate. It reminds me of that day in Chinatown. Gary when I asked people if I could take the portraits. Yeah the portraits were not brilliant as your photography. But I had a go it took me out of my comfort zone. I felt I had achieved something that day haha. Another time when I was in Liverpool I saw a woman in red. I sat there thinking I should take her images and ask her that moment of fear going through my mind. I knew it would be a great shot so I just went up to her and asked her if I could take her picture she said yes and was pleased I asked her. Afterwards I felt great and was crowing about it on the bus home.👍

Love the video as usual. I just got back from shooting some street at my usual Seattle haunt (Pike Place Market). I set a personal best for myself and actually asked three different people for their photos throughout the morning. I ended up having amazing conversations with two of them and walked away feeling like I made a real connection and somewhat exhilarated. I can totally see the benefit of doing this right off the bat! Thanks for the inspirations:)

I actually learned the flow or the zone whatever you call it from football. It’s basically letting your muscle memory control you while you’re really hyper aware and sensitive to your surroundings. The only thing is where I live don’t get too use the flow to much because everything is to slow paced and nothing really fast.
Yeah it isn’t dictated by place. It’s kind rising above thoughts. I know the flow state you’re talking about I played a lot of sports too. Meditation is good for it

So thoughts then …
In this day and age, does it matter what size camera we use? Especially for consented portraits? Aren’t people just as aware of a P&S pointing at them as a big SLR body and pro lens (which are now cheaper to buy used now and make a maybe more open statement than a slightly shady small camera ). Everyone on Tiktok knows what a Fuji X100V is 😂
Second … any specific tips for photographers who don’t have your outgoing personality? Most of us are pretty boring by comparison!

I’m not sure it matters what camera we use. I will say I don’t really care. ☺️ I mean I care about people (very much) but I’m not overly concerned about what they think about me so I suppose I would never have that kind of internal debate.
As for tips … I project how I want to be seen. I’m actually very shy I just don’t project that. It takes practice. My workshops deal with this very topic in an experiential way. But that said what I would say is it isn’t how you feel that’s important as much as what you do. So a lot of people are shy and they are at the effect of that shyness. I’m shy and I swim against that tide. I hope that helps. Thanks for the well thought out comment by the way I really appreciate that :)
