This is such an important piece of advice. If I was allowed only one type of photography it would be street in London. But I live in Derbyshire and local towns, even cities are not the same as London for street opportunities. So I realised that I have to shoot local events when available but also take the camera on walks , and take more creative pictures of the family. Anything to keep the muscle memory going. So this video has really reinforced my determination to carry on doing this whatever the resulting pictures are like.

Made my first ever visit to Brick Lane on Saturday. I wandered about with no idea where I was going but loved it. Stood and watched some street artists for a while - those guys are so talented.
Day after I was taking shots in the countryside - proper contrast.

Great video Gary cheers I’ve shot my whole life always been confident with a camera but for the last 35 years 20of them full time ive shot for newspapers it’s taught me so much I shoot something different every day for the last 7 years I’ve been uploading content on here again I’m trying different things cameras subjects techniques etc etc my motto is live once shoot loads’ subbed

I’m very pleased with my Ricoh GRiiix but frustrated by the Highlight Weighted metering mode. Compared to my other (full frame) camera, the default setting comes out far too dark, so I end up using Exposure Compensation to adjust and still maintain the Highlights….in practice I’m now finding it easier just to use the EP button. Can the default Highlight Weighted metering mode be adjusted?….I’ve not found an option for that. Any advice would be appreciated please - Thanks
Hey buddy I’m not really a tech person I shoot in full manual all the time controlling ISO, shutter and aperture on most cameras. I always just shoot check my settings to make sure it’s how I look and then I’m set to go.

Hey mate if you type in flash defuser on Google you’ll see it … anyone will do I use anything really :) a bit of white card even. I did attempt find my order on Amazon but I’m out of signal. it’s just a white flash defuser. :) 🎯

Your thing with the catchlight...where did you get it from?
Online mate it’s just a flash diffuser. Use anything. Some white card? I used the silver reflector side in this but mostly I use the white side. I lose them and just buy something similar. If ya type in flash diffuser or white bounce card on the web or Amazon you’ll get something. Otherwise just use a bit of white reflective card

Shame Ricoh just doesn’t do a monochrome GR
digital isn’t ever real mono mate anyway. It’s just putting a filter over the top. Turn it black and white in the settings. No difference. Zero! people say it handles the highlights different. Nope! It doesn’t!

Good advice Gary. Reminds me of ths video by John Free where he talks about meeting a street photographer and asking what their practice schedule is. Haven't seen practice mentioned by any other Street channels on CZcams. Just need to follow the advice more 😂
