SHOW NOTES
Ok, so in this video, i'm kind of laying myself bare. Ya know, a lot of the street portraits I get, and a lot of the street photography in general, it isn't how you imagine it to be. Some of the portraits I get, the person I'm shooting, it isn't how it looks in the photograph that I post. The image will come across like there has been this incredible connection with the person but quite often that isn't the case. Often there is a bit of ducking and diving to get any kind of a collaboration. Sometimes it is easier than other times. Sometimes we do connect in the moment and that is wonderful but more often than not I'm on the balls of my feet with this stuff. Like I said I'm ducking and diving and it's often a testiment to my powers of persuasion for what they are worth. When I post my images, all you are seeing is a moment in time, a sliver of a fragment of a moment, often accompanied by some music. This is what photography is all about. What is it you want to share and then creating the illusion for the person viewing. This may not be what you want to hear and ... and it's the truth.

I’m not sure what that means
I dunno I don’t see the problem with giving a homeless person money. And don’t see a problem if it’s transactional if they want to earn a quick buck.
The only problem I would see is if we as photographers are intentionally deceiving our audience in how we got a striking photo.
For me, my own rule though is to never use compassion as a strategy to get a photo.
yeah I’m not sure I get what’s saying - it’s like your suggesting I see a problem with it. Or maybe I’m reading it that way. Also I don’t see a problem with how anybody does anything. 🤷♂️
