- The Long Jump is more than a track and field event; it's a potential lifesaver. Discover how mastering the art of the long jump in 3 simple steps could be your key to outpacing danger. You just need a sprinter's speed, the precision of a river dancer, and a few dozen technical movements during the last 3 steps. This isn't just about flying through the air-it's about making the gap and landing safely when it counts the most!

This is great - love the humor blended with content knowledge.
Thank you, really appreciate it!
As a national long jumper, this is quite flattering. Didn't realize how cool I was
Yep, you're in the club 😎!
Hello, i wanted to ask why do u sit at long jump? Im just wondering
@@hee73769 the ref measures your jump from the nearest part of your body to the board that touched the sand.
So the kicking then "sitting" at the end of the jump is to maximize the distance and to guarantee that your jump is measured from where your feet landed, not something like your hands or lower back.
Jumping in my first ever track meet today!!
Good luck!
@@OutperformOfficial thanks! I ended up jumping 11 1/2 feet. Not very impressive but I still managed to get second. I’m subscribing so I can get better distances. :]
That's a great start, keep it up and you'll continue to get better!
Happens to me every Sunday
Just simply amazing❤
Thank you so much 😀
Of all the best long jumpers I can remember carl lewis as the only one that was elite speed and he wasnt the best longjumper. Just really good.
There are quite a few very fast long jumpers. Some of their times are extrapolated from flying 10m etc. but here is a great chart
Selected 100m speeds and long jump distance potential
Long jump distance / 100m time
8.90m / 10.00
8.50m / 10.25
8.26m / 10.45
8.02m / 10.65
7.00m / 11.50

This is incredible! 😂
🙏 Thank you!
I do feel like this overemphasizes some of the difficulties like getting your step right. It’s really not that hard, but I understand that more of the difficulty comes from training and the takeoff, penultimate and such
Getting your approach right is 95% of the event it’s much more difficult than it seems 😅
@@sydneyrush1638 I completely understand that. I was simply meaning that hitting the right spot on the board is not that hard
@@brendancroft5290I personally find it very hard
Great video. absolutel dose of knowledge and humor. Love and respect from India
Thank you, very much appreciated!
U saying we're pulling 10gs? 💀

Opting for world-saving heroics is always a good call. Keep it up, and you might just avoid getting wet... or save humanity. May your adventures be many and your puddles always be navigable.
