Also, today is my birthday! Happy 38th to me! We're celebrating by putting up trim around our door and windows with my mom and brother 😁 🎉 -Tristan
Happy Birthday Tristan! You make our lives better so I hope you have a great birthday and blessing during the next year!
Congratulations on another trip around the sun. Go take a hike!!
Happy Birthday, Tristan! Another great summit! And video!
Happy bday!!!!!
Happy birthday, Tristan! Today's video was beautiful and inspiring and a present to us. Many thanks.
Years ago, I was riding my motorcycle across the Mojave, and ended up landing in the middle of a cholla cactus.
I had needles in my hands that went to the bone. I pulled them out with pliers, but those little hairlike needles needed more care than I could give. Had to ride a hundred miles that way. My hand would not close for a month! Nasty cactus!
I'm also a desert rat but in my mid 70's, so my exploring, usually solo, is done in a SxS. I'm quiet and polite around other desert users, never go off trail and not an obnoxious punk. I enjoy your style, teaching as you hike. Thank you for extending my range. Happy Birthday. 😎
As someone who adventures in their Tristan inspired SUV rig in the Western United States, I appreciate the GPS coordinates on Adventure know-How more than you know.
Stressful watching you stand on the summit but absolutely amazing accomplishment!
LOL! When your camera fell I jumped and screamed because I thought you were falling. My husband was in the kitchen. His toast popped up at that exact second I screamed. It startled him so bad he said it felt like his heart stopped. Laughing so hard now I can hardly type this. Seriously though, love your videos. Now back to the video.
Hope your hand is feeling better.
OMG I thought he fell too.
Thank you Tristan, our country is simply amazing.
Agreed!
I was a wrestler in high school and we had a wrestling move named cradle rock, or castle rock, I can't remember now, this was awesome. Please be safe out there. This is the Endtimes and who knows what is out there. (2Enoch 20:3, in case you want to seek the most High)
I have to say, this video made me smile. Bonking the head, stabbing your hand, backtracking. I'm glad you left these parts in. You know what you are doing and also don't mind showing you are human.
Also when you took your hat off, my first thought was "holy head of hair batman!". Men are surely jealous 😂. Hopefully, you had a great visit with Mom, and she's doing well. She seems to have raised a good man.
You remind me of my son, he's 32 now. I miss him like no other. I also miss hiking and exploring I taught my kids the dangers and our code words were "Blackhawk down", meaning never go in, without water, a knife, and a few other things. After I saw that movie, this was how I explained it. I also taught them "take away water", meaning rivers and oceans. They were toddlers and it's how I got them to understand that it could take them away from me and I can't get them back. My son's first time camping alone, with friends at 16 years old he accidentally said Take Away Water to his friends and was embarrassed 😂😂😂 he finally realized it was meant for him as a child and he can start calling it a river😂. The Innocent in Children is beautiful and funny.
Take care out there, it's nice to see someone enjoying this earth and it's amazing history.
You make my weekends a joy when I get to go hiking and climbing with you. There's no way I can do what you do as I have gotten older and out of shape. But as a former hiker, rock and ice climber and lover of mountains I can experience your adventures. Your camera work and editing on top of the experience are fantastic. Love it! Keep it up and safe travels. Signed Avid Fan
Thanks Robert, I appreciate you tagging along!
Ditto!
One of my favorite videos. Not only great scenery, but it's nice to see that even you can have "ooopsies", such as wrong turns, slips and minor injuries, etc. That was more or less my MO for many years. It seemed that whenever I brought someone along, a wrong trail was inevitable that required some scrambling to get back on trail. Some wondered how I ever came back alive.
Beautiful day for hiking. I love the Swiss Army knife. I keep one in my EDC. Great video as always. Beautiful views throughout. Hopefully your hand and head have healed by now. Thanks for all of the effort you put in your videos to bring viewers amazing views. I have realized how much extra work you have to do with the walking or climbing back to retrieve your camera. It's worth the views and I hope you are able to continue doing this for years to come.
Yep, the hand feels great! About a week later, I pulled out another piece that had lodged itself in there 😄 But apart from that, it's been like normal. Thanks for the kind words!
Your videos are so good. I look forward to them . Great camera work. What I really appreciate is the research work you do that makes your videos very informative . They are never boring . You go places that other youtubers don't . Great formula . I get to see places I can't go to through SUV RV.
I remember 38. A distant ship’s smoke on the horizon. 😏 Happy Birthday T! Always love your stuff.
I love the rock formations, the checker board, the hoodoos, the balanced rocks, the striations, etc. As soon as you slapped the rock my hand hurt too. I like that you show everything such as the cactus spears and the head banging. The head hit made you forget your sore hand for awhile. Thanks for another beautiful adventure.
Happy birthday Tristan! I’m glad you’re on the planet!
Your simple comment brought tears to my eyes. Thank you.
Literally butt-clenching spectacular views from those mountain tops.
I live in the area next to the Paria River and for years I have wanted to explore that castle rock formation! So thank you for bringing it to me so to speak! It's close to Yellow Rock and Hackberry Canyon which is where most people driving up Cottonwood Canyon Road explore first (including myself). I was just out there last week. So it doesn't surprise me that so few people have went off the beaten path and have summited that castle peak. Great job, great content, and video.... as always!
Great summit.
I gotta work every Saturday... but before I do, I start my Saturday with your latest video - always gets me in the right state of mind! Also, you're pushing closer to 200k subscribers! I've been following since you were somewhere in the 30k's, so it's awesome to see the channel grow... Need to plan some kind of party or something when you hit a quarter million!!
HBD!!! What an awesome, uncrowded area. A beautiful place to visit and hike even for us mere mortals that lack your climbing skills!
If I get stuck with cactus after pulling / tweezing out the majority I use a sharp knife and "shave" the area that got stuck. Really helps with the micro spines that linger throughout the day(s)
Good idea!
We have also used duct tape and keep a generous strip in our first aid kits which of course is in our day pack.
Very nice Tristan! Thanks for always taking us along with you on your adventures. Hope your hand is better. 😊
A very Happy Birthday Tristen!!!
Very cool climb! Love exploring in this part of the world. I don't have an issue with heights, but that first shot from the final summit looking down to empty air was definitely vertigo-inducing. Thanks so much for all your amazing work. And a very Happy Birthday to you!
Having a small pair of needle nose pliers is another good thing to carry while hiking in desert country. Sometimes those spines are too deep and strong for tweezers. I've had them go through the soles of hiking boots.
Looks like they could go through his tennis shoes or whatever they are. Are they rated for Rock climbing?
Would anyone hear him were he to wear a saftey whistle?
Brilliant and my favourite part was all of it..
Thankyou..
Thank you!
Congratulations on your castle rock summit. For a time I thought the mountain Gods were trying to tell you something. Castle rock is spectacular. Happy Birthday 🎉❤
Happy Birthday Tristan ❤
Now this is a hiking video I can relate to! (ie: accidents, bumping my head on things, etc)
I absolutely love that road through Grand Escalante. I've taken in a couple times now and already want to take it again. A wonderful somewhat hidden gem in Utah.
I lost my lovely cat Shadow. He was 15. He loved laying on my chest and getting hugs. I miss him dearly.
Spectacular!!👍👍😳🤔😊🚶🎉🏜️🎂🎂🎂🎂🎂🎂
I could just feel those cactus spines! Another great Saturday morning with death-defying Tristan.
Amazing Video, Tristan! Looks as if you got a huge Butterfinger mountain there! The texture and apparent brittleness of that summit area you were standing on gave me the eeebie-jeeebies just by looking at it... being so high there with those sharp cliffs surrounding you. What a climb and what an extraordinary view you got! Wow! What gift for being your 38th year on the planet !
Tristan another amazing adventure I do look forward to every Saturday morning to view your video. Stay safe out there.
Thanks, I'm glad you liked it!
Few can do the kind of stuff you do and narrate them so eloquently as well. Keep up the great work
Watching you today has been awesome... Thank you, I'll tell you it has been breathtaking... Stay safe and happy
Thanks Tristan, enjoyed following you on your trip! Please forgive me for chuckling during your encounter with the tree branch. It was unexpected after the cactus incident. Happy Birthday! 🎉
My type of rock to hike on. I love southern Utah.
Wow the view from the top. !!! ❤
Spectacular! Unending views, beautiful rock formations, amazing texture of the rocks - what a treat! Thank you!
This must be close to I 70 ,we are in our 70s but we are rad geeks and that area is a beautiful testament to the power of nature !
Happy birthday!
I don't know how you do it but you get me all butterflies with your summit video shots. Others, no. You, yes lol. Thanks very much for taking the time to video your explorations and posting them!!
Thank you for the video happy climbing
Ouch! Double Ouch!! Looking down from your perch on Castle Peak made my knees go jelly! Happy Birthday!!!
Us desert dwellers have learned a lot of tricks over the years in dealing with cactus (that always win)! Pliers, tweezers are all great for the big spines. Those little "fuzzy" spines are the worst: take a small roll of DUCT TAPE with you. When you are down to the small stuff, put a piece of Duct Tape over the area and pull. You might have to do a couple of times, but it does work. My husband and I just cringed when we saw the spines. We've all been there. Awesome adventure.
That was fun! The majority of my hiking is in forest here in Oregon. But I get inspired to check out the desert areas from your videos
I eat peanut butter snd honey sandwiches all the time. Love them!
Happy Birthday.
I always feel sorry for your photographer, you and perhaps your camera.
This is hard stuff!
Thanks for sharing this with us.
Getting older is hard.
As always you take us to amazing places. What a wonderful way to celebrate your 38th birthday. Happy Belated Birthday Tristan. 😊
Very interesting, spectacular scenery, thank you.
Great Find! Thank you so much for sharing this gem! I’ll have to get up there! Cheers Brother
Amazing, don’t know how you do it, had me cringing; of course I’m 70; had no problems when I was young🤩⭐️😎🤣
Happy Birthday! Those “bubbly” rocks look like petrified poop! Lol. Hey, petrified trees… you never know. Very cool looking; you find the most unusual things.
Happy Birthday to You ! Mine 77th was last Saturday. Your outdoor videos are the best, especially since my brother gave me his old 55" TV screen that I use as a monitor. I've still not owned a TV, nor do I plan on it. YAY !!! But youtube is my 'go to' so I can find 'real' interesting things to see & learn. Wishing you safe travels & outings.
Enjoyed the entire breathtaking video, thanks so much
Happy Birthday Tristan and thank you so much for all the beautiful travels you share
🎉Happy Happy Birthday. Really enjoy your videos Tristan
Love the campsite. Thank you.
Thanks!
Thanks for sharing. The deal with the cactus needles reminded me of our visit to Arizona. I was 12 years old and posing in front of a couple of beautiful cacti. I had stepped on an ant hill (didn't know it until I was bitten) and backed right into the catus. Fond memories. I didn't know hoodoos existed until I started watching your vidoes. Almost 69 years old and I am still learning things. Keep up the good work.
Just amazing. I love watching you young men show me these sights.
"Oh, look, there's another mountain to climb!" You're like a kid in a candy shop...
Another great video Tristan, lotsa great looking rock, vistas, views, challenges etc. No, the cactus in the hand didn't unnerve me, but being on top of the precarious mountain was unsettling. Good technique to show the distinctive mountain as you approached and later have it recognizable in the scene with the hoodoos. Looks like an intriguing place to hike,,, and weird bubble rock. Thanks for sharing...
Theres a saying. Its funny until someone gets hurt then its hilarious. Glad youre OK. Beautiful hike😂❤.
Lol well said!
Great video! Spectacular scenery!
Thanks!
Happy Birthday, Tristan 🎉🎂😊 Loved Castle Rock, the hoodoos, your road drive & everything else in the video. Was afraid the mountain gods were out to get you in the beginning but they saw you were a true protector of nature & let you pass 😊 Enjoy time with your mom & brother. 👍🏻🙋🏼♀️
Great place to have adventures! I love Escalante Staircase region. I really enjoy hiking the area, and had a great time watching your hike. I may have to get up to castle rock soon. Thanks again Tristan!
I love the grand staircase area. Gotta get back this year! Just. Got to.
Thank you for the opportunity to experience it vicariously through you and your great videography!
I find myself going back year after year too. It's worth it!
Happy Birthday, Tristan! 🎂
Thank you for bringing us to some unusual summits. You rock!
Beautiful! Got butterflies when you looked down from the summit. Hope your hand is better. We have Sandhurst which also leave those micro stickers. Thank you for sharing!
Sandburs...
Yep, the hand is good as new 😁
Happy Birthday, I sure enjoyed your day. What A climb, when the rock hit you on the head, oh no!!!! What a great video, what sites you bring to the old ones who can't climb, thank you.
congrats Tristan !🎉 Great video as always! Thx!!! Cheers from Germany 😊
I was in that area two years ago doing Hackberry. Wish I had more time.
What a cool adventure. The hoodoo’s were really interesting. Sorry about the cactus prickers. Thanks for sharing!😀👍
Thanks! I had fun despite the cactus 😄
JMHO those rock formations so much awesome than an arch or etc. WOW!!!!!
Great! Amazing rock surface on this Mt. Happy Birthday!
Good one today! Have been to the base of Castle Rock but don't have the abiliity to get that bird's eye view. Those bubbly rock looking pieces were intersting. Thanks for the hike!
WOW Way cool view from up there
Right? Definitely worth the effort!
Those rocks are just gorgeous.
Thank you Tristan for this channel. I'm amazed how many different landscapes this great country provides! Keep it up!
Happy belated birthday! I too am old now and so wish I could go the places you do. Thanks for taking me with you! ❤
Thanks again "T" for another outstanding adventure video! Excellent videography, history and useful input. I thoroughly6 enjoy all your videos.
Happy Birthday Tristen🎉🎉🎉Enjoy your day with Mom❤️
I get vertigo 😮that was epic. So glad it wasn’t windy 🌬️ 🥾 🧗🏻⛰️
Me too! Wind always makes things less pleasant.
My favorite fault in Utah/Arizona! It's the gift that keeps on giving. Yellow Rock to the south is another great outcrop. Happy Birthday - mine is Monday but I've got a few more under the belt than you. BTW I lived in the desert outside Rock Springs in the summer of 1972. Love your videos and I appreciate all the double hiking you do to capture all of those hiking shots! I am curious about something - a huge majority are of you hiking away from the camera instead of hiking towards the camera - is there a reason for this?
Spectacular as always ! Great way to start my Saturday. Thanks!
Thanks for watching!
Breathtaking and beautiful! Happy birthday!
Happy birthday Tristan and many wishes to come.thanks for sharing and be safe.from northern california wishing u the best.
Always awesome video.
Looks like the plant life is out to get you today Tristan!😅
Happy Birthday! What a wild man you are- doing house projects with your family! I really liked this video. Castle Rock looks very impressive. I watched the cactus needles in your hand part, and felt that it was horrible and painful, but, in my limited experience, I have had a few brushes with thistles. They are practically invisible and harder to remove. Anyway, you had an eventful day! Glad nothing was broken- you or your equipment!
We so enjoy your posts, I keep a notepad ready when watching for a future trip and this one is definitely going in!
You of course are not alone in hitting your head while wearing a ball cap. Can't count the number of times it has happened to me. That is why it is humorous.
Those views made me weak in the knees. 😮 Love your rambles! You are crazy like a fox!
Awesome! 👍😎🇨🇦 and Happy Birthday! 🎂🎁
I hold my breath when you’re standing on the tip of a rock that high up! Hope you enjoyed your sandwich! I enjoyed that tallest WhoDo!😀🇺🇸
This video is so amazing. You made this so much fun to watch.
9:50 🖼
Happy birthday Tristan! Thanks for sharing your travels. May you have many more adventures, stay safe.😊
Happy Birthday! Thanks for the wonderful adventures on your channel. Excellent videos.
Happy birthday, and thank you for videotaping your amazing experiences!
It was a really fun explore. Thank you for that!
