For me, personally speaking... I think United are in need of a decent defensive midfielder. McTominay is fantastic but you need more depth in that role unless Fred is expected to drop in and improve in form.
Under Mourinho's entire run we had no right winger, and we've made do with playing Mata and now Pereira out wide which is frustrating because there's no place, there's no threat to the oppositions Left Back and that means our attack is very one-sided. It's like a trident with the right prong missing.
Of course they need experience. Maddison could be vital in midfield should he arrive and Sancho could add that 3rd prong back to the trident. Although I would love a striker around the ages of 27-29 who could provide 2-3 solid years until Martial and Rashford are ripe and Greenwood is more matured.

The truth that Gary needs to admit is that UTD is no longer the club most players dream of joining because of lack of football professionalism and vision by club management. It's no longer a football elite club, it becomes an money making institution for the owners , forgetting that it is basically a football club.. it's obvious the club is lacking football project that would keep it among the big clubs in UK and Europe. CEO has made a big mess regarding transfers before and especially this transfer window trying to keep all threads in his hands just to show the owners he is Mr. Reliable. I believe he is a complete failure in football world. It took him a month to bring Wan Bissaka for the same amount demanded by Palace, and another month to bring Maguire for the same asking price and worst of all, it took him 2 months to sell Lukaku at the closing days of the window without making any plan to find his and Herrera's replacement early on. Football has become an international sport without boundaries, so club's look to bring multi Nationals to their teams as long as they are deemed good enough. It doesn't make sense to focus mainly on British talents to bring to UTD, but they should focus on the best that suit plan and way UTD play. Remember the heros; Schmeichel, Vidic, Ronaldo, Cantona, Nestelroy, Van Persie...etc. all were not British but we're absolutely essential to the glory of UTD.

      @zaheral-qassab4622 Před 4 lety

Thank you all for the replies which I highly respect. As a proud long time fan of MAN UTD, I would like to further say my point of view on the current status of the club.
We all agree that the glory of the club had been established through a successful formula of 3 factors; 1st. a great manager with a project, vision, strong character, and winning mentality. 2nd. great hardworking players of any nationality (british or foreign but not all stars) with high commitment and talent. 3rd. professional footballing management who believe the club is football club in the first place and secondly a commercial entity that brings revenues. Beside this formula, there are great supporting fans who keep behind the club all the way.
The players who participated to the success of the club were a mix of British and Foreign Nationals that both engraved their names on the trophies and titles achieved. Sir Alex brought the best players who would fit in the style of play regardless of their nationality or fame. And that made the difference. He was so brave to expell any player who becomes spoiled or thinks he is above other colleagues or irreplaceable. Now, From the way the management and owners behave and act I can say they are significantly football ignorents and look only for money out of this sports institution. I believe the only way to get back on right track again is to:
1st. Bring in highly experienced manager with recognized reputation and character and believe in club's project.
2nd. He will bring talented players (not necessarily stars) that would fit in his team and have high commitment to club's legacy and history.
3rd. Get rid of all players who wouldn't fit in the style of play, spoiled and never give 100% performance no matter their names are (just as Sir Alex had done before).
4th. Set a timeline for the project to reach the goals set and Support the project and manager with funds to achieve the targets within 2-3 years. All fans will be more than patient to wait for the goal to be achieved and UTD gets back to compete once again for top trophies as a formidable force again.
5th. Replace current CEO. It's quite sad and funny to see Woodward labouring for a month just to bring Wan-Bissaka for the same price asked by Palace and the same for Maguire from Leicester, meanwhile knowing that Lukaku is leaving 2 months earlier (we all knew that except Woodward) but did nothing to replace him, or replace Herrera (could have brought Gana from Everton as replacement) and Thierney from Celtic to compete with Shaw. All price tags for those proposed players were cheap. Lack of competence in the team is a very bad thing and would downgrade performance of existing players. Anyways, I would love and appreciate if Gary, Ferdinand, Scholes or any other legend would read my comments...

Filip never said Liverpool weren’t a big club, but maybe actually winning a premier league title which they’ve never achieved would help. (They have won the league but premier league is a different entity don’t care what you say, google it). This year may be their year. Being A Scottish Rangers and Arsenal fan I completely understand, Rangers have fallen drastically compared to the force they used to be.
By what criteria can we judge any team? Too many variables to accurately judge and if all teams were the same it’d be boring. Just a part of the game I suppose

Liverpool got VERY LUCKY with the transfer market and United got VERY UNLUCKY with the transfer market. That's the DIFFERENCE!
Ignore Alisson 65m Keita 50m Fabinho 35m and VVD 75m... Those were the only expensive signings and more importantly signings that are known quality played UCL football... The luck comes in with
Firmino from Hoffenheim for 30m (an unknown quality)
James Milner from City for free
Mane from Southampton for 30m (good but no one dreamt he would be this good)
Wijnaldum from Newcastle for 20m (relegated team)
    Trent Alexander-Arnold (academy)
    Matip from Schalke for free
Salah from Roma for 35m (failed in epl previously got some form back in Serie A no one dreamt he would be this good)
Robertson from Hull for 5m (again maybe good scouting? but weren't talked about)
Liverpool built a squad from bits and pieces, NONE of these players from bulk of the squad were expected or had the potential to be challenging for league or dreamt of winning UCL... of course credit goes to Klopp he bought all these players... and definitely it's because of his tactics and coaching... but United bought more proven players, more well known players and hardly any played to expectation, while Liverpool bought unknowns and they all turn out world beaters... There's definitely luck involved!

    • @Eduardo-vj6ly

Hawkelek the amount of money that would cost. And the how good they would actually be is completely based on fifa ratings mate 😂😂
Sancho is easily 100m in todays market and very risky signing. Sure he is currently very good in the bundesliga but he can easily flop in a different scenario due to playing in the PL and for United (cause lets face it, their team sucks right now).
Lewan and Cavani would be suuuper expensive apart from the fact that neither club would want to sell them. They dont need the money, why would they sell them. Also you are using the same logic as united used with sanchez. This could go very badly just like sanchez
Bruno fernandez’s asking price this summer i think was 80m. If he plays in the same level this season his price will go even higher. If he gets worse, you, if i wouldnt have mentioned this to you right, probably wouldnt want him next season.
So we are talking about easily 300m.
Want my opinion. United wont go anywhere if they dont get an actual serious manager and change their useless board. Mourinho couldve stayed but the board is the worst so he couldnt deal with what he got. Until the board changes, united is doomed. To me, it seems like wishful thinking that 3 great players could make United title-challengers overnight. Majority of players in that squad currently lack the experience, character and the consistency needed to win on a regular basis. That united team at the moment can beat Liverpool easily and then go on to lose against Villa the very next game. Players like Pogba, Martial, Rashford, Lingard, Pereira, you simply don't know if they're going to show up.
In 3 years, with more players United can challenge for the title but the players need to be consistent and adopt a winning mentality. Klopp cultivated the right attitude within that Liverpool squad and then the 3 additions simply took them to a new level.

The current spine of Matic, Mata, Young and the likes are either too old or not there up in quality. Manchester United can easily fix this without waiting for 3-4 windows to take place. Manchester don't have the ability to execute in the late game situations it's as simple as that :)

the big problem is creating goals and scoring goals. we missed the boat not signing bruno Fernandes. Fernandes has 2 goals and 5 assists odd already this season. United don't score in the first 20 mins the pressure builds and fans start losing it . by 48 mins the team are clueless and playing nervous football. Fernandes would of been the player to take pressure off scoring and creating goals .

Gary is spouting total non-sense about Alexei Sanchez. I was just watching a clip the other day from few years back when Gary was on commentary and called Arsenal spineless because players were walking back on defense during a match. Then after the match, he was talking about Sanchez' bad attitude because he'd throw his arms up and make a scene when something didn't go right on the pitch. At the time, Sanchez was being linked with Bayern and Gary said they shouldn't buy him because his attitude would just sour after the honeymoon period was over.

I agree with Neville, but not easy to find those players today, given the amount of competition.I would go for eriksen or isco, kane, kante, griezmann, emre can, pjanic.I mean, united has enogh money to buy at least some of them,I just dont understand what they are waiting for

Just need quality. It was a poor transfer window. We signed good players but we needed more in midfield and even at RW or ST. Need way more than 3 signings.

We have signed 3 good players and yet our team is a mess at times. This just shows we need about 10 more players to 100% reach top 4.
