When United left the chat.. it was Manchester City and Chelsea. Since 2013 only Manchester City and Chelsea has had multiple premier league wins. Manchester City has out spent chelsea every season for the last 10 years and have not won the UCL. Money does not guarentee UCL success, ask psg. Chelsea have spent and changed directions every season and still won alot. Manchester United have spent even more post fergie and are still failures. Give the Chelsea the credit they deserve for winning in chaos. My opinion is that the pressure put on players and managers at chelsea was greater than what Ole and others have faced at united.

    Jamie's about right. I look at pre-season, I look at the two definitive teams played, the older more experienced team in one half that was typically boring, linear and didn't produce goals then I look at the younger team, the more dynamic, hungry, ruthless high energy team that could play through an AC Milan 2 banks of four and I hear Ole talking about giving youth a chance and I think yes we've learnt, those young lads are ambitious and hungry to prove themselves with fitness, skill, ability and chemistry between them that won't want to let themselves or the fans down and seize the opportunity they have been given.
    Then I see the more experienced boring linear team being selected for games and people are surprised expecting to see anything different other than boring, linear, non-directional and lathargic football. The proof is in the stats "every pre-season goal was either scored or assisted by a youth team player" sure they'll make mistakes and lose some games but they would come back fighting and twice as determined the next game to make amends.
    Ole talks about youth and long term but he isn't implementing what he proved in pre-season with the 2 individual teams he played! Why not? God knows. But he is suffering the detriment of it now, maybe he's not allowed or maybe he simply didn't see it, which would worry me but I severely doubt that as he seemed to be looking to prove a point which he did but isn't implementing it. Greenwood, Chong, James, Gomes, McTominay, Pogba (not a big fan but hey), Williams (could have been O'Connor but he got fed up and went to Celtic) Maguire (at fault for the Newcastle goal but better than no jump Lindelof) Tuanzabe, Wanbisaka (fantastic player) and De Gea is a hungry skilled team able to play through tightly packed defenses and produce goals and that's what we need, do as you say Ole and give youth a chance.

I think the premise for playing football has changed over the past 20yrs where players only go to clubs they supported and had heart for but now it is absolutely retarding to think like that. Be cause of the changed trends, you get the payer and created an environment for them to stay.
    We have always read the favorite line of players when they move from one club to another “this is my dream team and I wanted to be here" we have to get quality players and win their heart and make them see reason for being here.

  • @wogdog2206
    @wogdog2206 Před 4 lety

    I semi-agree with what Redknapp said, with regards to Man U being where Liverpool was back when he signed in that they had in the decades prior, dominated everything and been highly successful and had to rebuild, but only to a point. United had their success in a much more commercial era. Had Liverpool had their successes with the same commercial surroundings, they'd be in a different position almost certainly. It would have been less acceptable for them to go 30 years without a title (not that its acceptable now). United are under so much scrutiny because they're finding it hard to win, and yet they've spent an absolute fortune along the way. Fergusson did it with a much smaller budget (even if you account for inflation and the relativity of eras), so this United side has no excuses. Liverpool weren't the same commercial juggernaut that United became after winning so many PL's in the 90s and 2000s, and had to sell to buy - hence the whole net-spend debate. More is expected of United, because if you're spending 250M a season on players, and then the wage bill is gigantic, you expect results. Liverpool spent big ONCE, and even still, the vast majority of that expenditure was covered by a huge player sale, and the United fans were screaming that Liverpool tried to spend their way to a title.
    United won't go 30 years without a title, no way. But it won't be soon. I think it will be a proper lost decade from them. A few more years, for sure. Is Ole the answer? Honestly, I do not think so. I am no oracle, but Ole just doesn't have the pedigree to bring United back to the big time. I am not saying its impossible, he could well prove me wrong, but would I put money on him doing it? No way. Klopp at Liverpool makes sense. Can you imagine using the same wisdom at LFC? Throw in Gerrard instead of getting someone like Klopp? Would have been a disaster, kind of like what United are going through. Myopic owners and management at United. I think that needs changing first, then the gaffer can go.

      I think his point is that Solskjaer's ability (or rather lack of it) is irrelevant when even Mourinho and Van Gaal struggled at the club, and only deflects from the real issues at the top.

Then utd brought him to Old Trafford and look at what's happened to the Utd team now they look like the directionless frought boring unable to score unable to defend Mourinho Chelsea just before he was sacked.
