  • Uploading both original and MDX versions to compare! Many reasons why Magical Chase is one of the most expensive and sought after TG-16 / PC Engine games, but the music getting more and more credit over time as being way beyond the normal capabilities of the system is certainly one aspect. Hitoshi Sakimoto and Masaharu Iwata went on to become famous for the music of Ogre Battle/Tactics Ogre, Final Fantasy games - this style of soundtrack is far removed from role playing fantasy but they still knocked it out of the park and they have quite a few shooting games in their discography that deserve to be checked out.
The MDX version here is credited to Veyrlen, who was one of the legends doing lots of "perfect ear copy" conversions of arcade games and more (their version of Laputa anime music is also amazing).
Game was by Quest (same company behind Tactics Ogre/Ogre Battle)

Suprisingly the US promotional art looks better than the Japanese promotional art in my opinion

The X68000 versions sounds good, some tracks are either a little better or a little worse than the PC Engine original
