In this video, I hammer out a skull from a sheet of silicon bronze.
Mankind has always had a morbid fascination with the human skull. From a technological standpoint, it certainly is an interesting structure. The technique I am using is called repousse, however, this is usually done in low relief. I am doing it in very high relief here. Consequentially, I start by raising a deep bulge and rough shape over stakes before I finally add pitch as a backer and create the final detail.

Outstanding!!
Greetins from Brazil, this is just awsome
Would be a neat design to have on some shield of some kind. Heraldry style.
A 5,5 k subscriber count is way too low for this channel, considering the videography and content is great.
Thank you. That means a lot to us.
Good job big fan

Really nice. This reminds me of paintings of the medieval masters which often have a skull in them representing the fragility of life and vanity.
And here I thought I was a metal worker because CNC programmer and can use a press brake. What you are doing is real craftsmanship

Could this be done to make a whole skull? As in make both sides then weld/braze/superglue? them together?
Upscale the raven pin and do a plague doctor mask next?
Shhh. Dont read our minds.

dressing like a teenager!!! bahahah looking forward to the more beginner skull. iv been practicing skulls and faces similar to Eddie. thanks for the videos
dude your work is awesome. how do i get started in forging and bronze work?
Many ways to start out in forging and there are tons of resources available online. We have some beginner oriented videos right here on our channel and there are many others on CZcams who have excellent tutorials.
The trickier option is to find a master who is willing to take you as an apprentice, or you can pay someone for classes(we teach classes too).
Do a lot of research on different forges, and figure out how much you are willing to invest. There are very cheap ($50) ways to get started, though you do get what you pay for.
As for bronze work, because of the very prohibitive cost I would recommend starting out with steel and work ypur way into copper and finally copper alloys.
Best of luck!
Dear Thak, before the Black Breath will take us to Hel, would you be so kind to share with us the secret of making the spikey Nazgul Gauntlet A.K.A. The Witch King Gauntlet??
Hey there, I just discovered your channel. Nice work! I've done some repousse myself and I discovered that clay makes for an excellent substitute for pitch. It's much easier to come by and to work with because it doesn't require heating. You do need to keep it moist but at the same time that gives you control over how much resisance it offers. It's a great beginner's technique if I do say so myself. Cheers!
We may be doing a video in the future featuring clay as a substitue backing. Glad to hear it does work.
Can you make a Plague Doctor's mask? Made of metal of course?
Extra points if you can make it as unique as you can. not like the modern ones but make it extra badass an scary :O
If we can keep it tasteful in light of current events there is a very high chance that it will be one of our next(ish) videos.
your work is amazing im so happy i found your channel, loved the breastplates
Dear Mr Cool Stuff Making Guy with a Sick Ass Garage that looks like it was on the set of Game of Thrones ( the Dreadfort scene where Ramsey Bolton does some sick ass twisted shit to Theon Greyjoy ) Anyways I do accounts payable and receivable not because I wanted to but more of having to get a job or my wife was going to kick me out. After reviewing the content of your channel and averaging out the build time for your projects to be at 18: 28 minutes ( @ standard deviation +/- 3) which is very convenient for me. So I just quit my day job and will be pursing this full time because it looks so quick and easy. My wife will understand once I start making Spartan shields and stuff. ( I dont have any tools do you think this will be problem? )
Thank you Mr Cool Stuff
Making Guy!
Good luck man!
Just a bit of skulduggery ?

very enjoyable to watch, and a pretty dam good job ! one critic : repousse is really not pronounce the way you do.
I realize that...but I have heard various pronunciations....I don't know what the correct one is. I need a voice coach
