    I have a 2022 blue metropolitan. I’ve owned 9 motorcycles, including my current Harley. The metropolitan is my favorite two wheeled machine of all time. I never touch the Harley anymore. There’s something about cheap and lightweight that makes the fun factor explode. It’s been incredibly reliable so far and all I do is hammer on it. I commute 15 miles each way, and put like 450mi on it in the first month of owning it. Lol

      I've been riding for three decades and just bought, and rode, my first scooter ever, a 2022 Yamaha BWS (Zuma) 125cc this spring...can't believe I didn't do this sooner. Incredible fuel economy, storage, nimble, easy to park anywhere, easily stays ahead of traffic (125cc), cuts time off my cross city trips and I love the flat open footwell...so easy to get on and off. I envy those that can ride year round...just got our first snow this week.

    The matte green looks great, but falls short of the green-on-black that other countries get. Black trim gives it a mil-spec look that would give it a new audience.

    • @HondaProKevin
      @HondaProKevin  Před rokem +4

      Oh yeah, the black trim definitely gives it a more "manly" color scheme over the cream and brown accents but I don't think it's too girly like some of the others they've done over the years - where no guy is going to ever buy it. I gotta say though, I think I might like this color scheme more than the Japan spec. Maybe ditch the cream for the black trim though and add the black wheels too with the brown seat thrown in the mix? Might look goofy though, need to touch up on my photoshop skills and play around with it since I can't see them both side by side in person.

  • @benvernick
    @benvernick Před rokem +10

    Agreed. Love the styling, wish they had an upgraded engine option, a 110 would be perfect. Something to get it up to 55 mph if needed. Mostly for passing and staying ahead of traffic. Clearly not for highway driving. I’m still considering it though being I live in a highly congested metro city. It’s very competitive with Genuine Buddy scooters which do offer the higher engine options….

    • @mikebelongia6697
      @mikebelongia6697 Před 7 měsíci

      Supposedly if you remove the restrictor plate and replace air cleaner and exhaust with high air flow after market parts you will get closer to the 55 mph mark. Maybe replacing the carb should increase the speed as well. There are also tuning kits that should help as well. With some upgrades 55 mph probably can be achieved, you might have to replace the piston as well but with the fairly easy replacement parts you should gain speed.

    Accessories! Aftermarket support is the biggest upgrade Honda can make to these. It's so infuriating that they already have all these great add-ons but they don't bring them stateside. I guess the argument is there isn't a market here, but it's kind of hard to have a market if there's nothing to buy.

Our tech's couldn't figure it out as it was intermitant and wouldn't act up for us. We took a liquid cooled model to the dealer and they couldn't fix it either. If Honda offered a 100 cc version (in addition to the 50cc) that had the same looks, chassis, etc it would help those who need a bit more speed to keep up with the faster streets. I like your thinking! However, I'd like to see a slightly larger engine squeezed in there so she could at least hit around 55ish mph and hold it up hill etc. That'd really open up some doors for people that love this styling but can't get past that 35-40 mph mark they're at now. I know there's still a market for these 49cc models due to certain licensing laws etc but I think keeping them that size is really restricting possible sales.

      Kevin, my reasoning on an 80 cc fuel injected motor was for better acceleration from traffic at stop lights. I personally would not feel at ease riding this small scooter at 55 mph. I one time owned the 2010 Honda elite 110 cc scooter and it was a very good bike, but with my six foot one inch height and 210 lb weight and a top speed of 48 mph I felt the stability was questionable with those small tires. But then again it could just be me as an older(70 something) inexperienced rider😎

    Love the looks and quality. Had a Honda Jazz (Canadian name for the older, 2005 Metropolitan) and did like it a lot. The problem is, even for city driving running errands, a top speed in the 35-40MPH (54-64Km/h) becomes a huge liability in my opinion. It is almost dangerous and I live in a place where most people are civilized LOL. That is the main issue with the Metropolitan: the lack of a bigger engine. Throw the same 160cc found on other Honda scooters and they will have a huge winner in their hands. That is why I ended up upsizing to an Yamaha Vino 125 later. Way safer as it can get to 60MPH with no issues. But then, for my needs (wanting to do longer trips, highway etc) I ended up getting a Vespa 300 that can do 75MPH all day long. I would not recommend a 50cc to anyone, no matter where you live or what you do; it is just not safe around drivers, especially when they go into road rage mode as you are too slow for any road.

      Agreed. I've been riding for three decades and just bought, and rode, my first scooter ever, a 2022 Yamaha BWS (Zuma) 125cc this spring...can't believe I didn't do this sooner. Incredible fuel economy, huge storage, nimble, easy to park anywhere, easily stays ahead of traffic, cuts time off my cross city trips 😁 and I love the flat open footwell...so easy to get on and off. I may upsize down the road, but for now my F150 takes me down the 400 series highways just fine.

  • @iamirish4361
    @iamirish4361 Před rokem +1

    I love the colour and don't think the black accents look better but that is a personal thing. I had a Yamaha BWS 50 which was stellar in looks and performance (but for the dumb double-headlight) and was too slow. I now have a Vespa Primavera 150. I am stopped virtually every ride from people wanting to admire it, know how much it cost, whether you need a motorcycle license, etc. Honda needs a retro 150cc. Don't buy a 50cc as it is especially poor on hills. May as well get an electric bike.

    • @MrMoneyHelper
      @MrMoneyHelper Před rokem

      Moped means it has pedals that can be used to propel it like a bicycle (MOtor PEDal). Some states mis-label small motorcycles with 49 cc engines with no shifting as mopeds. If it doesn't have pedals it isn't a moped.
