I'm almost 80 years old and as a result of riding for 55+ years, have accumulated over 500,000 miles on two-wheeled vehicles. Two of them have been Vespas (GT200 and a brand new GTS 300 HPE) I also owned and rode a Kymco 150 Like. All the rest of have been motorcycles, ranging from 90CC to 1600CC. There is a difference between Vespas and other scooters. Some call it heritage, a lifestyle, a culture....and you do pay extra for it. The same holds true for Harley Davidson motorcycles. What I also know is that at 80 years of age, I am no longer strong enough to "horse around" 700 to 900 lb. motorcycles. My GTS 300 at 360 pounds fits my present physical strength just fine, and I still take great joy at leaving most cars "in the dust" when I take off from a stop light. Having said that, I try to always remember that it's not what you ride, but that you're riding. Enjoy your two wheels, and stay safe!
This comment is describing it perfectly!
The Kymco Like is a great scooter. Superb look and overbraked for such a light vehicle. Plus, ownership allows you to stick two fingers up to the Chinese Communist Party. What's not to like?
I've heard it said this way...It's Not the Bike, It's
the Ride
Have you ever had a bad accident? 500000 miles wow
Did you mean it's still suitable for 80 years old Sir?
Great video, and you have pointed out the most significant "User requirement advantages" that set VESPA away from the competition. Here's my take on it, If I may....as someone who has run all sorts of motorcycles including VESPA products. Firstly, have to say that I no commercial connection to the VESPA brand, I've 40 plus years of experience of 2 wheeled transport and my experience tells me one over-riding truth. THE difference is simple. You can still buy service parts for the original 1940s Vespa Scooters in Italian dealer shops. The internet is a wonderful thing! I don't think you will be able to say that for KYMCO in 70 years time. Vespa scooters cost way more to make than an alternative brand as they are built to be ABLE to be repaired. Even the very latest ones are built to be able to be repaired and give very long service. Pay Cheap, pay twice as they say.
I have always had sports bikes, but a couple of weeks ago I bought my first Vespa 300 HPE. It's become my preferred mode of transport and is so much fun. The Vespa definitely feels premium and I have no regrets buying it. Great review BTW.
Do you still feel the same? I'm planning on getting one.
Owning a Vespa is different ⊠Vespas are not just a scooter you own. They are part of the family â€
If you disassemble the Vespa scooter and the other scooters you will understand for sure that they are poles apart. Only the Indian made Vespas are a disgrace to the Piaggio group("Make in India project"--Govt of India) by my experience within a year they made me a "scooter mechanic" it all started from the cheap quality ignition rotary switch and list simply goes on and on .đđđ Nice work . From Kerala ,India.
Could you please elaborate on why you had to refer Make In India and Govt of India into this discussion about Vespas?
Man,I don't know... I'm Italian, I own a Pk50s from 82, a Cosa 125 from 88, and a lml star 200 4t. And i love the star. It's a evolution from the px serie.
@@nitroAle " And i love the star. It's a evolution from the px "
Amico mio,tu hai poche idee mooooooolto confuse sulla LML
Modern Italian made Vespas are shockingly bad. Frames rust in front of your eyes and the engines are unreliable. The Indian ones go on forever. Older Italian heritage geared Vespas weâre great.
@@goawaytours Dovresti parlare solo di cose che conosci,e tu le Vespe *NON* le conosci.
I've ridden two wheels for 55 years, from BMWs, to Hondas and everything else. I had knee injuries in the Navy, and that stopped me from riding motorcycles because my right knee bending is limited, bend it too much for too long and, oh, the pain. Scooters are like sitting in a chair. I've had a 1987 Honda Elite 150 for 13 years, I added a Honda 250 Reflex, then a Suzuki Burgman 400 and now, what you bought, a 2017 Vespa GTS 300, in Ferrari red, after all, I am Italian and my last name is close enough, Ferraro. It will cruise at 65 to 70 easy. Thanks for the episodes.
Sounds like fun
Simple and straight to the point. I love your vlog!
Great Channel You`ve got here, lady! Been riding all sorts of scooters for 25 years (Im 44 now) but just bought my third Vespa (... and second GTS:) Love the community and love Vespas. Gonna be pimping my new GTS this winter, for sure. ALL bells and whistles. Please make episodes about all the great accessories you can get for the Vespas. The selection of accessories, Vespas own or aftermarket, is huge! Greetings from a Norwegian Scooterist.
Thanks! Appreciated your review and notes on the differences between your two wheel experiences. And, I loved taking a ride around the Ft. Collins area. My sister-in-law used to live there, but we haven't been in quite a while. Planning on buying a Vespa 300 HPE too! Thanks again!
I'm loving your videos, I've been a motorcyclist for 30 years but just bought a pair of Buddy Scooters for my son and I to enjoy together. I have the 170i and he has the 125, and your videos have been really helpful. Also, I used to live in the Houston area, North Houston in Cypress, and South Houston in Pearland - that traffic is no joke.
Ha! You've got an automatic buddy to ride Buddys with! That makes me smile. Hopefully you can keep smiling with minimal traffic wherever you landed! I take 518 often into Pearland, but I can't imagine Cypress traffic!
That was a great video and I have thoroughly enjoyed all of them. BUT
now you are including the Vespa in your films
Love it , Love it , Love it
Thank you very much.
Mark from Maryland
Thanks, Mark! Itâs a great scooter, but Iâm going to struggle to let my beloved Buddy Kick go in the same breath! đ
Thank you! I am looking at all brands of scooters, and the ABS on the Vespa gives it a serious edge!
Don't know how it is in the US but here in Europe all Brands have ABS. (They need it at least on one axle by law)
Thank you for sharing all of your research with everyone! This was wonderfully helpful. Cheers
Glad it was helpful!
Very nice overview. You covered all the right stuff.
Bought a Vespa S50 2 stroke 2010, best bike I have ever owned and done literally thousands of miles which touch wood have been trouble free, the build, ride quality and handling are fantastic.
This is a great video! Thanks for explaining the differences. Sounds like I would probably appreciate the quality of a Vespa.
Thank you! You have no idea what your support means to me!
Great review. You ticked the topic very well. I have had a Vespa Sprint 150cc, which I now miss and am thinking
about the GTS 300 before the
next summer.
Hello from Houston!!! Galleria area. I have no idea why this video popped up but I sure did enjoy it. You have a new subscriber!
Your Videos are AWESOME!!!! Congratulations on the NEW VESPA!!!!
Thanks on both fronts! I follow you on IG, but somehow I didnât realize you have a channel until today!
In 98 I was a trained mechanic for Ducati , Aprilia , Moto Guzzi & Vespa . I have owned all but the Aprilia but not because it wasnât a quality motorcycle . It had to do with what I liked . I owned and tested both the Vespa ET2 and ET4 . Both models were fun , solid and reliable to drive . Vespa has built its reputation through many years of development . They are the premier classic scooter to own if you can afford one .
This was a great overview, and very accurate!
When I first got the scooter bug I wanted nothing but a Vespa. An ET4 particularly. This was around 2005/06, but when I finally got my license in 2010 and went to look at Vespas again they had priced themselves out of my business. Plus, I had since discovered that they tended to have electrical problems or were difficult to find parts for, or they took a while to order. Itâs still a great brand, but not the only amazing fish in the sea.
You are sooo rightâŠ. There are a ton of great scooters out there, so spending beyond the value it provides you is foolish!
@@ScooterNewbie but any that aren't repulsive?
@@ScooterNewbie There may be a lot of decent scooters out there, but there is only one Vespa. I noticed that you did wind up with one after all.
True, it's more easier to find parts for Vespa here in Europe and find second hands to, my dream is to one day own a vespa and a classic fiat lol
@@SakuraPT2 I would also jump at a chance to get a Vespa. It's so iconic and cool. A 50cc would be perfect because my wife could ride it as well.
A few years ago, I bought a used Vespa 300 GTV in CA. Itâs a very fun scooter. When I bought a house in TX, I was looking for a Suzuki Burgman 650 Executive. I looked and rode 2 used ones and passed on them. They werenât as fast out of the hole, werenât as smooth and the âtransmissionâ feels weird when slowing to a stop. I then found a new one just out of the box at a dealer in Houston (they quit importing them in 2018 for some reason) and I got it for $3K under sticker. It rides the same as the used ones. Itâs main advantage is that it is more competent at 65mph+ than the Vespa-plus it has a power windshield and power mirrors.
my first two wheeler was a Vespa PK50 from 1988, it was slow af but a lot of fun!
Very nice presentation - so honest and straight. I feel the same about the Vespa.
Honestly, You're so cool and I really appreciate your spreadsheet.
Thanks for the kind words, & glad you found the spreadsheet helpful.
Yeah the reason people love Vespa so much (apart from its looks of course) is its history. Scooters existed before the Vespa but the Vespa was the ancestor of basically all scooters as we know them today. Sure there are plenty of very good competitors out there (several of which I have owned and loved) but none of them have that history and just pure class. That's what you pay for, if its worth the extra money or not is down to the individual but there's clearly more than enough people willing to pay the extra to keep them in business.
Speaking of Brittish, I purchased a 1972 Norton Comando Combat, it was a 750cc and did a sub 12 second quarter mile, pretty fast in that day in time. One scooter/bike I always wanted but never got was a Mustang Stallion, they were a small motorcycle and ran quite fast for a 12HP motor. Look them up, they have a lot of class!
great infoâŠvery informative
Great video...thanks.
my vespa come out next week!!!..u make me more exiteddd
I've got a vespa px 200 with gears, great fun to ride and love the smell of the two stroke..
Great job. Thoroughly enjoyed your video and the information you shared.
Glad you enjoyed it! Do you have a Vespa? Or just curious?
@@ScooterNewbie I had a 1965 Vespa as a kid. Metallic blue with chrome wrap around engine / rear bars.
Good video. Riding Vespas since 1995 from 200 cc Rally 200 ( 1977 ) to currently on a 2008 GTS 300. Also , never buy new ! There is always a nearly new second hand one out there from someone who had second thoughts about rinding / owning two wheels. That's how you get your massive discount on brand new dealer prices.
Thats the way to do it! I got a 2020 Vespa GTS Touring with HPE for $5300 and it had only 635 miles and equipped with beautiful hard case, same color!
Your comment is what I was looking for. Im just about to buy a vespa but saw secondhand vespas for sale. Thanks
I think you did a good job on this. Both objective and subjective, empirical as well as nuanced.
Thank you for creating this channel and the content. I own a HUGE touring bike that I use as a daily commuter and long trip ride. BUT my 1.5 hour one way work commute on a bike, year roundâŠeven in the snowâŠis making my wife nervous. I am looking at selling my big bike and using the cash to purchase a Vespa for both of us, and a dirt bike for my adventure fix.
Keep up the content! Good stuff. I think we will get a Vespa 150cc Tour. Ciao!
Oh my⊠year roundâŠ1.5 hours⊠in the snow even?! Hard core rider! Kudos for looking for a win-win in the house, too. đ
Please share when you guys get your scooters! Iâm thrilled to hear that kind of good news!! I had no idea that Iâd be making scooter content, but that kind of story is why I make time for it. â€ïž
It would be safer to buy scooter with ABS snd TCS for long commuting. The smaller wheels on scooters might require you to change your riding habits. 150 c.c. might not be powerful to carry both of you for touring. A scooter of long wheel base with top box to lean on for back seat passenger could be more comfortable on long ride. There are plenty of scooters around 300 c.c. could be your choice.
Hi, I am a motorbike newbie and enjoyed your video. I own a 2014 Can Am Spyder STS with 2 up capability. I hope to buy my now 12 year old daughter her first scooter someday. I hope you and your family have a fabulous summer.
Thank you!! đđ
I don't have to much experience on anything other than piaggio's but what I can say is the Piaggio mono front forks ride so much better than anything else they make a huge difference.
Nice video, over the last 20 year I've owned alot of big name scooters, in my opinion nothing beats the iconic vespa.i own 250ie vespa and nothing beats the fun,the ride and lots of people come over when I'm stopped and want to know about it thanks for your video
Thatâs so good to hear you say that about the Vespa with your experience! I never know if Iâm newbie naive or itâs a legit feeling when I hop on & discover something new-to-me. I spent 6 months test driving all the scooters in this range that I could in this caseâŠjust to make sure!
@@ScooterNewbie heres one more thing, vespas will last longer than other scooters.watch vespa scooters on any you videos and look how many are older models.20 thru 50 plus years old.mine will probably be my last buy

You along with many others caused me to go take a test ride and I was sold within 1 block 1 turn and 1 speed bump. Took the 2022 demo back and bought a new white 2023 GTS SS Loving this new ride and my Honda Forza 300 is reluctantly for sale as it is a great bike too but just not of the same level as Vespa..
I love the video!

great review
As a owner of a 1970 Vespa GTR in the UK, I can honestly say it was a great review. It's about time a lady in the scooter world did a comparison and a critique. You do pay for the brand, that's just life. But you do buy into the heritage that's lasted the time and has developed scootering for other brands to use.
Besides a 2006 Vespa GT200, I also Have a 1979 Vespa P200E 2 stroke manual shift manual clutch scooter. I will never give that one up. But I have been seriously considering trading my GT200 for a 300GTS. It's the HPE thing that scares me. They cut the major maintenance intervals literally in half. That has to make you wonder. And if you are a high mileage rider like I am (60K+ miles on my GT200) all that maintenance could get VERY expensive. Why is it necessary on the HPE and not on the regular GTS300?
My heritage with Vespa goes back to when they had handlebars...
Good answer! If you want to improve performance of your scooter, Vespa has more off the shelf gear to do that compared to the OTHER brands of scooter.
I love those Vespas since I was 8 years old in 1965 while visiting family in Greece...way cool
had a P200 , have a Sport 100, PGO, Honda Elite 150 and a 2019 Primavera. It not just about price. Quality and tradition is what matters.
Excellent video and I love your Vespa!! Definitely the weight of that beautiful scooter will be like going from a tiny car to large car. From a Suzuki Burgman fan(atic) đ€Ł to you, great job!! đ
Love my Burgman 400!
Good stuff. Sheâs spot on.
I love the fact that in your US dealership there's a union jack by the vespa's. It's weird how the UK has become synonymous and inseparable with scooters. I'm not sure about modern scooters but they have a good reputation here in the UK. Scomadi and Royal alloy are both good also. Are they worth the extra? I don't know. I would imagine they are. In the long run you'll never have a problem with parts and there will always be mechanics that can work on them. I can still buy parts for my lambretta gp despite the fact that lambretta went out of business in 1971. Also if you want to tune your scooter there are a lot of companies catering for vespa.
Thks
My Corgi bought me a 300GTS (red) in 2010 for Father's Day. It has been perfectly reliable, still great fun to ride , gets 65mpg and is way sportier than the uninitiated might imagine.
Of the ca. 30 motorcycles I've owned, the Vespa, along with my '73 BMW R5, are my favorites.
Good presentation, I totally agree with all you say....Vespa rules for design..
I have a Vespa sprint 50, I love it so much
I'm 73 now and at age 14 I was growing up in Oklahoma at that time you could get a license at 14. My parents bought me a Vespa 150 , it was a great time and place to grow up in America. I still ride motorcycles but will probably end my riding life on a Vespa.
If I ever bought a scooter, and I might, it would be a Vespa and I love how they look
I feel all of that!

Hey! Very grateful for your video! What is it like scooting around Houston? Iâm shopping for a scooter/moped for the Atlanta area which I assume might be similar to Houston. Your video was really helpful! Iâm looking forward to watching more.
I donât know why this comment just showed up for me, but Iâd think driving is similar between ATL & HOU. People just arenât looking out for 2 wheelers everywhere for sure. Suburban moms are worse than big trucks, though. đ Stay alert & enjoy the ride!
solid review. Lot of good information. Been riding motorcyles for 20+ years and have been looking for last two years at scooters. Live in a cool place to cruise and am looking for something simple. Not highway speeds so looking at 150cc not the 300. Though I tend to think bigger is better, I just don't think I'll ever use it.
I like a solid 150 myself! Keep the nimble vibes with more than enough oomph for cruising around. Can't wait to hear what you choose!
Have to admit I laughed out loud at the price tag at 0:13 for the "VEPSA." Oops. As always, appreciate the details and analyses, and in this video the detailed price comparison at the 300cc class. Well done!
I know you've been shopping for a while now, wondering if you've seen a lot of variability on the dealer add-on costs beyond the MSRP? Maybe a video topic?
Oh, let me document that. Itâs not as different as youâd think, but it DEFINITELY adds a lot to that MSRP. đŁ
Vespa is a great scooter ther well built with quality metal and the engine is reliable mine is a 2015 model gts125ie with 21,000 miles and it's been great very reliable have a look at royal alloy gp300 liquid cooled scooter it uses a vespa engine and looks exactly like a lambretta. Great video
Thank you for the great video. Vespas are nice. Many of my friends are part of Vespa clubs. However, I just want a scooter to get me to work and back home. Price is a factor. Even when I rode motorcycles, I did not care about looking cool. I care about going to work.
Yay! You finally got a VespaâŠgood choice!

Ha! Thanks! I'd love to hear which model & color you go with. That's half the fun is picking a color!
You can buy something besides a Piaggio brand/Vespa but several years down the road my Vespa will still be running and I can still get parts for my Vespa, including that 1978 P125X

Hi Renee. Another great video. Thanks for your input on the Vespa. Yes, Vespa is a bit more pricey so you really got to think if youâre willing to pay the price. But if the Vespa model you check out have what youâre looking for and rides comfortable and willing to pay for the cost then itâs with getting. It sounded like you needed a scooter that had a bit more Go for that Houston driving. So, itâs understandable why you would look into a more powerful scooter. So, did you get that White Vespa? That was a nice scooter. I see you came to San Antonio and went to the Motorcycle Shop. I from SA. I hope you enjoyed the trip to SA and your visit to the Motorcycle Shop. Thatâs where Iâm going to get my scooter at. Anyways, Thanks again for the video. I always enjoy watching them. Be Well.

Got to admit though, its an ICON
In my opinion, I'd much rather have a used Vespa than a newer alternative. I especially like P-series Vespas. They were some of the best scooters ever made. They are so easy to work on yourself and are super reliable.
I had a Vespa 180 rally back in 1973 at the age of 17 bought for less than ÂŁ100.

Growing up in the 60s Lambrettas were just so much cooler
Vespa is great - they have 59-70 years of research and development- built in..it's refined...nudged twords perfect..one model year at a time , style is nice , but the man hole cover ...it is steady in rough seas..you much safer when your in command an control..smoothness is pure safety ( too)...
Hey short riders looking for a bike. There are a ton of Honda Rebel 250s' out there and they are faster than a scoot of the same size and cheap. Good way to get the skills to move to a bike later.
Iâve heard that when you buy a vespa it does not come assembled. You have to pay for the assembly.
TY for this. What are your thoughts on the Lance Havana?
I liked it, and it was on my short list when I first started riding. Have you seen one in person yet? Love the classic look of it!
Had a Piaggio, Suzuki and Aprillia,. They were all nice to ride with the Aprillia by far the best. Brands like Sym and Kymco appear to be quality as well.
Have you looked into Piaggio scooters, like the Liberty range? Also, have you looked at the newer electric ones? Like the Vespa Elettrica or the Piaggio 1 Active?
Excellent information here! I personally think that Vespa motor bikes are very well made. Not to compare motor bikes but the Honda C 90 are something to look into. If you can find a well cared for bike of the past. Just the history of sales is insane and incredible, where multiple countries have had them and still use them and put tons of miles on them them!! They are simple to work on, extremely durable basically a tank!! And most importantly the price is way more affordable. The Honda super Cub 125 they now sell still holds the classic look and built to last as well, getting excellent gas mileage and very comfy to ride, also has wind protection fairings which come in handy when it's colder weather. There is a man (Ed march) I believe, on CZcams which has gone traveling all over the world đ đ with one of those Honda c90's it is mind blowing the abuse and constant use he has the poor bike through...
Thx for sharing, yeah Vespas are special for sure. The older models that are rebuild and cared for are stunning to see. Even the new ones seem to hold similar quality everyone is used to seeing. It's just that some pockets can not afford them lol.
The old c90 are a great bike, but the new supercub has way too much plastic for me đą
good deal i have 3 scoots honda and yamaha and love them. i would take a looksy at a vespa to add to line up EX-cept 2022 bmw E scooter CE -04 is just plain wild awesome so probably forward cash to that.
13 days ago not knowing how nice the 2021 75th 300 looked i bought one. had to search as not many to none around at dealers, bmw e on back burner.
I own personally a Piaggio Fly, what isn't a Vespa, it has 70cc 2t engine and it keeps up really well with in the city..
Boot, scoot and Vespa on!
Buy cheap and you get a 'Cheap' Scooter! Modern Vespa's are the top end of the Table for Quality and Ride! I own a Vespa Douglas 1981 and a modern GTS300 2021, my wife has a GTS125 and we love them! (Biker with many years of experience on Fireblades, Ninjas' and GSXR's) We go for long rides around the South Coast of the UK and recently a road trip to 'The Isle of Wight!' Very good video!!!
Wow! What a garage?! Thank you!
Lambies ruled back in the day. I had a cometa, then Li 125, Li 150, and finally a TV 200 which I sold for 30 sobs. Worth a lot now !
I had Vespa and Gilera, it is all Piaggio, but the Vesp is a Vesp. The Gilera has the same engine in my case, but the concept is complete different,.. Gilera is the sportish design with not much details, just sportish and with 200cc 19hp alwasy to fast in downtown :)
Vesp: is the difference of the Metallbody of the Vesp, design, detail, comfort, Hooks for bags and a nicer seat for your sweet dreams behind you... I is a Lifestyle.. But do not forget the Beverly it is a very good alternative with bigger wheels and same engine without a metallframe.. But cheaper..
Great review of the Vespa GTS 300 - I just uploaded my review of the GTS as well.
Good video. Today, I test drove a Vespa for the first time. It handled and performed great. I was completely shocked. In the past, I perceived Vespas to be too girlie and overpriced.
We chatted yesterday. I receive my racing 60âs model tomorrow. I cant wait. One thing i did was change the chevrons to the Italian flag. It looks cool. I know its against the black trim theme but it is a Vespa and Iâm Italian.đ

Thanks for this review. Iâve had my eye on a Vespa for a while now, but when I went to my local scooter shop recently and sat on one, my heart sank. I barely touched the ground! Iâm 5â2â and it was just too high. I will be taking a basic rider course in a few weeks and when I do purchase my scooter, I have decided on a Buddy Kick because I can sit on that one comfortably. Maybe when I get more comfortable riding, Iâll move onto my dream scooter, but for now, dropping $6k on a scooter, that I might drop, doesnât make sense. Congrats on your new Vespa!
I know that feeling youâre talking about! I KNEW I was getting the Like, but I KNEW I wasnât getting it as soon as I sat on it. I love my Kick, but have you tried the Urbano 200? Iâm super curious about that one for a little more oomph.
Were you wearing motorcycle boots? They will add a little bit to be able to touch the ground maybe enough. Was the shock set to the softest ? Vespas have adjustable shocks on the back might help once you sit and put the weight that it lowers just enough. Was the side stand off? when i sit and the side stand is down my feet dangle like if i were on a horse. Some Vespas can be lowered a bit with a small cheap part it would only be like an inch or inch and a half but might make a big difference if you just need that tiny bit.
Hi! Which one you got? I was also considering the Vespa, but Iâm also shorty, Iâm 5â5ââ ⊠with your comment I notice that Vespa is not my best option⊠Iâll do my basic riding course this weekend.. if everything goes fine probably will buy my scooter soon :)
@@josmty9 I ended up getting a Buddy Kick and I love it. I can place my feet flat on the ground.
@@wonderwoman4875 Thanks for the quick answer! Iâll take a look to that oneâŠ. By the way? Was difficult the basic rider course? As mentioned Iâll take it this weekend.. :)
bought my wife a vespa primavera for her 71st birthday, end of june. i bought a vespa 300 hpe super at the same time. excellent quality in our opinion. I am 73.
Whoa! Talk about the happiest of birthdays! How are you guys enjoying them? Were you both familiar with riding before?
@@ScooterNewbie we have both ridden for years .in the 1970 s we used honda stepthrus for work .we had big bikes and sidecar outfits also .
from Linda, have a wonderfull time as i have , you will encourage other ladies also ,please let us know and keep in touch .
Vespa, Scomadi, Lambretta, Royal Alloy, LML/Star if you want a nice looking one.
Thanks for the info, my first scooter 7 years ago was a Buddy 150, I just recently purchased the 75th anniversary Vespa 150. The Buddy has become hard to start but once its going runs and drives great. You are totally correct about the Vespa, it rides better and with fuel injection starts easier. I only have 30 miles on the Vespa and I kept the Buddy because trading it in was hardly worth it. The dealership would only give me $700 because they didn't want it. I do have a bit of buyers remorse on the Vespa because I spent so much but it truly is a work of art and I hope it will maintain its value.
I have had bursts of remorse, too! Iâm generally fairly frugal, & right after I bought it, I started working from home! We did get rid of a vehicle in the house, but I know the remorse youâre talking about!
I donât know why, but I love the circle bag on the 75th editions! I am going to sell my Buddy Kick soon. I was tossing around the idea of keeping it, but I canât see riding it enough with the 300 in the garage. đ
The Buddy is a solid scooter made in Taiwan with carburetor, so you have to ride it at least once a week to keep the carburetor from clogging. In fact, those scooters made in Asia(except China) are as reliable as Vespa, even better. There are 20 million scooters in Taiwan. Local people are using scooters heavily as daily workhorse, so durability becomes the major concern of local manufacturers. Local scooters' driving belts can last 30,000 kilometers while Vespa's need to be changed every 10,000 kilometers. Rust is also the foible of Vespa, let alone the scratches, dents and dings due to tip over.
Vespa may be iconic, but overpriced.
@@darcychu9652 I am concerned about the rusting on the metal body of the Vespa and the dealer and Piaggio, neither willing to help the owner of the scooter, this stops me from buying a new 300.
@@tennisbum3686 I'veonly been into Vespa for a couple of years and frankly this is the first mention of Rust i have heard, from what i have heard and seen Rust is just not an issue. have a look at a few videos, particularly the restoration videos they don't have to deal with significant rust issues, until perhaps they have been in a dump for 20 years. From my experience buying Vespa has been the best vehicle investment i have ever made, my first commute Vespa paid for its self in fuel savings within a year and brings a bucket of joy. I hope you reconsider.
I'll buy your vespa if you have buyer's remorse đ
That monocoque metal body is great if you live in a warm climate, but rusts from the inside out if you live in a coastal area or ride during winter were the roads are salted. That's why I won't ride mine here during winter.
Anyone that can help me chose between Vespa Sprint 50 with some mods for a stronger ignition, or a standard Peugeot Django 50 cc with no modifications ?
I might add a new cylinder over time if easy to do on these, but some people warn me that new modern-day scooters need computer software to tune them...
I am not sure that is true..
... but how to choose between these models really? quality, functions, strength uphill, comfort etc? what to consider between them?
All the reasons you listed is why I go to Genuine (Buddy) or Honda (but not the Metropolitan) every time đ
Well now I have to know why no Metropolitan?! I love the look of allll the Genuine Scooters.
lol i love how you put "piaggio" and "vespa" into 2 separate groups..but yeah the metal body is actually a huge deal, here in italy pretty much everyone at 14y/o gets a scooter, we spent a good amount of or live modifying and tuning them and with plastic fairings you know how they come off but you never now how they'll go back together, because they warp and shring and bend (mostly because of the sun)..metal made vespas don't lose their shape so putting them together is a walk in the park
I get that on the Piaggio & Vespa from folks not in the US. They are the same dealers here, but seem like very different brands & people aren't always aware. They look so different! We just don't ride scooters the same way, but I am glad to see so much more interest in them. I can't imagine growing up where it's so common!
@@ScooterNewbie honestly i had a blast..there were days were we went out just to ride, it wasn't (and it still isn't) uncommon to see large groups of kids riding around in a cloud of two stroke smoke. there was a HUGE culture of customization, but then the four stroke came along, new regulations and the usual generational loss of interest almost killed it..it came back a bit in the last couple of years though
Nice video, mentioned that other 300cc feels more like a motorcycle than a scooter. This quality may be a pro for some viewers, can elaborate more? Other 300cc range scooters are more smooth, rides better etc, as compared to the gts300?
I think all of the 300+ including the GTS were super smooth. They glide like butter, but the bigger wheeled versions did have a leg up in feel. What model are you leaning towards?
I have a vespa 125 primavera 2014 11 inch wheels and no abs.
I took the vespa from 8000 miles to 42000 miles.
Then I considered buying a new primavera, but at ÂŁ4600 front abs, 12 inch wheels and rear drum brake. I compared the vespa with several other scooters and really wanted larger wheels if possible.
I ended up buying a Honda SH125i. I was using the bike for deliveries and safety was key. 16 inch wheels makes large pot holes small. Front and back disk brakes and abs, also traction control.
ÂŁ3500, I also ordered a screen and what they call knuckle guards.
Had the vespa come with the same speck for the ÂŁ4600 as the Honda, other than the wheels, I may have bought the vespa.
Having done 16000+ miles on the Honda 125, I love the Honda, but I intend to restore my white primavera, it's not just a scooter, but a work of art.
have this week took delivery of a new honda s h 125 i with tall screen and knuckle guards love it .also love my 2020 vespa gts 300 super .
@@johnbellamy6449 hope you have a great time riding. The Honda screen appears to be made of rain glue, I polish mine with Turtle wax, which helps the rain run down the screen. I've done just over 36,000 miles on mine.
I ride a Vespa Prima 150 in sg. I ride a Honda Airblade in Viet. Even cheap scoot have ABS and same features. So im not sure if her opinion is accurate that theres additional features
