2019 Vespa Sprint 50 Review [Virtual Test Ride]

  • The Vespa is to Italia what the Lego is to my Childhood... a friendly reminder of simpler times. For 2019, the Vespa Sprint 50 sees minimal updates for this year and although the 50cc single cylinder CVT driven engine is peppy at times, the lack of power is almost criminal, even in the slowest of city traffics.

I started on a 50cc and quickly realized it was underpowered. You need a 150cc scooter if you will be facing any hills and want to be safer in traffic even in the city. Everyone told me this when I bought my first 50cc, but opted for the slightly easier licensing. If you only drive on slow roads, it would be fine but inevitably, you need more power and speed in the city. Still a small frame bike but so much better in traffic.

in the seattle area, almost all 2 wheelers will wave to each other, seem to ride together also, we tend to bunch up for safety. actually have made friends from total strangers. (scooter life)

I think, without explanation, at the end of one of your videos you should just burn those gloves at the stake Game of Thrones style with the new Gauntlet gloves looking on. It would be epic. It would send a clear message to the rest of your gear to never fail. It would establish you as the clear and dominant leader of your moto world. Just a suggestion.

Duke personally I would want this 50 mL scooter I've been watching a lot of videos on the types of scooters and I'm definitely wanting the Vespa but the problem is in Clearwater Florida the people that drive the cars are usually a lot of old people that really don't pay attention to motorcyclist or scooter people , So I was thinking about getting a electric pedal bike because at least on the sidewalks it's legal. But I'm thinking of adjustments the cost of the maintenance on both. So I would really appreciate your thoughts about this. Thanks I am a new subscriber Duke.

Yo, Duke. I have been following you for a while, but I lost track a year or so ago, and I didn’t realise you came to Europe for EICMA! I would have invited you on a ride or dinner or something. Hit me up next time you cross the pond. Thanks for the infotainment! Cheers

Great ride ❤ i used to ride motorcycles but i find them to dangerous and heavy. So i turn back to a 50cc scooter (Kymco like 50cc). Its easy
    cheaper practical and fun. 😀👍

My favorite video of you is moto camping with S1000RR.
To be honest I had enough reviews. I don't know about other people but I rather want to watch long term review or something like moto camping, something unusual...

Did you notice that they took down the video of Stephanie riding a Vespa in DC that was on their site ? Sorry to say Motto Washington is just not the same since Stephanie and the rest of the gang there have left, just saying
When I was in the hospital Stephanie offered to take car of my dog and did so. Yeah, she also was always so helpful, not only to me but to all of those that dealt with Motto Washington. They all went out of their way in so many ways.

The reason why scooters and motorcycles don't really wave at each other is because motorcycles don't really find us as a two-wheeled vehicle they more see us as a bicycle with an engine on it

Fun Fact: while considering buying the Grom, I seriously looked at the Vespa Sprint 50. I Grom is orange and I would have got the Sprint 50 in orange too. Okay, perhaps not all that fun, but it is a fact! :)
The hook you pulled out is for your helmet I think. I do believe there is a circular hook for groceries under the ignition key area. I could be wrong.
I enjoy your vids. I don't think you ever did a Triumph Street Cup video? I don't know if there's a 2019 Street Cup, but there is a 2019 Street Twin. I'm just saying. :)

Stay with Asian brands like Honda, Suzuki, Yamaha, Sym, Kymco for comfort. Vespa is fancy, but with electronic glitches with its Piaggio iget engines like Piaggio or Aprilia scooters.

    • @PiotrPilinko
      @PiotrPilinko Před měsícem

Vespa is like iPhone - it has a nice design, a good build quality, but the "power for money" factor is pretty low.
Also 50cc and 125/150ccm or even 300ccm Vespas build quality and equipment is almost the same, so production costs are comparable.
In general when you compare build quality of Vespa to almost twice cheaper Piaggio scooters - Vespa wins (even if it is comparison of 50ccm Vespa to 125cm Piaggio): even if Piaggio produce all Vespa scooters.
So the difference is mainly related to the local law: for instance - In Poland I could drive 50ccm without any official driving license, for up to 125ccm my "regular car" driving license (category B) is enough, but for 300ccm I need a regular bike driving license (cat A2 or A). So I advised my wife to pick 125ccm Vespa (which has no speed limit and it has more torque and power): she has only cat B driving license, and for cat A she had to spent an equivalent of almost 1k USD and at least 3-4 months.
