New Viega MegaPress and Steam Piping on Crown Gas Boiler Installed by Neighbor Handyman

  • When she contracted a neighborhood handyman who she thought was also a local plumber, to replace her leaking boiler, she thought she was getting a great deal! Instead she got deceived into a poorly installed Crown steam boiler. Watch how we cut out and replace the steam piping, including installing a drop header, equalizer, Hartford Loop and flush valves on the wet return for future maintenance. For the past 18 months, the homeowner has been dealing with intensive banging and hammering sounds every time the steam heat comes up.

the enjoyment you get from doing a great job piping is the same i get when i make a driveway, garage/basement floor or a stamp job look, you know, tits!!!! have 27yrs in concrete and i still get that good feeling when a customer is happy. especially when some weekend warrior screws up concrete and we come in and redo it and they see the difference a professional makes...awesome. i have a few aches and pains but that comes with being on earth for 48 yrs. but the satisfaction i get from doing a job to the best of my ability is worth it.
great job, mikey. if you keep making vids, ill keep watching AND learning. i recently bought a house with an old american standard gpm-5 1b-j1 and after watching plumbing vids its piped waaay wrong. like someones drunk uncle did it over the wkend back in '72. the boiler is in good condition its just the piped wrong. so after watching your vids, steve lav and miss mollys vid and other plumbears im confident i can repipe it no problem. im replacing everything from the domestic to the boiler and to the zone valves. they have the expansion tank dead ended thru 5ft of pipe on the domestic side so the hot water has to try to expand back thru the cold with the result being the relief valve dribbling. theres a water stain on the floor from the expansion dropleg to the drain so this problems been going on for decades. amazing what people will put up with. why? who knows. as soon as warm weather is here to stay and the boiler can be shut off, its getting all new copper. its gonna look TITS!!!
