    great job, helpful advise for you, when coming down the stairs on hand truck, raise the handle up so the wheels stop on each step to hold the weight rather than the sled technique, also the hartford loop looked high but could just be the angle of camera, should be 2" below normal water level. may want to fire it up before insulating in case of leak, very nice job!

    Page 61 in "The lost art of steam heating". Hartford Loop is 2 inches below normal water level. U.S. boiler is explicit in their manual that Hartford loop is 2 inches below normal water level.

    • @aaronkoster3940
      @aaronkoster3940 Před rokem

      @@PipeDoctor The center of the glass is really never the relevant measuring point. Center of glass means different things on different boiler. "Normal water level" is the point of reference. Most manufacturers, in the installation manual, mandate 2" below the NWL. Some say 2"-4" below the NWL. The only time middle of glass is referenced, is when dealing with old or obsolete boilers, where no manual exists.

      There is something called a Gifford Loop". Very similar to The Hartford Loop but with the placement of the loop slightly higher. The inventor of the Gifford Loop proposes that you are better off with the loop at the height of the normal water level. You can Google Gifford Loop and you'll come up with some interesting reading material.

    I haven’t had good luck with surgex. 8 way works very well for long term treatment and to encapsulate oil. There’s a guy on CZcams that has a properly installed steam boiler in his own home with glass tubes on supplies and steam drop header, so he can see what happens when different products are added to clean water. Surgex was by far the worst I saw tested, and made the boiler surge. The 8 way worked well so I tried it after 2 trouble steam installs.. banging and issues with farther away radiators not heating well.. the 8 way solved the issues immediately.

My experience, when a person starts the regular not showing up on time, means they ain't long for the job. You're helping to fuel the bad thoughts of your generation and really only hurt yourself. Be thankful for the opportunities u have, and don't squander them. Molding it into something greater for yourself. Sorry Mike, I know u have probably said something, but I see great things for Peter if he can just stop stepping on his own dick. Maybe he wants a nice modern, tall roof van with a well engineered diesel engine that's powerful and sips fuel instead of an ancient 60 year old van that you can't stand up in and that guzzles gas and spews unburned gass smell and stinks up a whole city block when you come to a stop 😂 How did the Americans manage to only get 175 HP out of a 6+ liter V8 gas engine in a commercial van for so long?

    • @BryanGullickson
      @BryanGullickson Před rokem

      @@dregenius 1. why the hell would you go with a diesel that would be very silly as it would be in the shop more than it would be on the road due to the Emissions systems plugging up due to all the stop and go traffic Mike encounters plus the added cost of fuel and maintenance would outweigh any sort of MPG boost he might get better to get a gasoline engine and 2. I never said Mike HAD to go with the others it was a simple question posed out of curiosity and lastly 3. Your bias is showing as im assuming you're from Europe considering your suggesting a Diesel which here in the States cost significantly more to run and maintain then their Gas Powered counterparts due to the cost of Fuel and US EPA Emissions Adding on DEF,DPF,EGR etc

    • @dregenius
      @dregenius Před rokem +1

      @@BryanGullickson You make some very valid arguments, but honestly big asthmatic gassers are just not suited to a commercial van or hauling. The fact that diesels cost more to run is not the engine's fault, it is the fault of regulators and Americans who are very stubborn and continue to think of diesels as "foreign", which in turn means America continues to use less efficient refinery processes that prioritize gasoline (despite being significantly less efficient, as many of the distillate fractions that would have gone into #2 fuel/diesel need additional energy pumped into them to crack them down into gasoline), and fuel taxes that assume only huge trucks use the fuel and thus disproportionately tax diesel fuel. If diesels were more common in vans and anything that isn't a sports car, then there wouldn't be that issue of them being more expensive to operate.
