    I recommend getting the XL earcups, not only do they alleviate the comfort issue, but they make the soundstage and bass much better

      Do they make them look much bigger on your head? I have a small head so don't want them to look huge.

    Thanks for the review but one small correction. The 1 million bends was for the cable not the actual headset. Although, I am sure it would last just wanted the clarify the information from the packaging.

    These are incredible. Testing them on my iTouch, the only EQ option I could really chose was Flat or Off since all the other options muddled the tracks. With Flat and Off these headphones were just too much. Really bright. Had to jack the volume high for some bass response. I bought the "Poweramp" App for my GS3 and it has really brought my m100's to life. I EQed the sound so that the mid was more pronounced. But then there's the "TONE " option which let's you crank the bass and treble. It adds a new dimension to the music.You can turn the bass dial to right before it starts distorting and these things THUD. It rattles my thalamus. The treble option really crisps everything up. Like thoroughly clean tops with thudding bass. It's remarkable. The Solo HD's definitely can't handle the EQing. These M100's will have you snobbing left and right. Music just doesn't get funner then this.

    Thanks man. I actually received the M100s yesterday.
    The M100s do tend to drown out the mids a little bit though... and the highs are a little bright. Depending on what you're listening to the headphones can sound pretty bad.
    But once you turn on a great hip hop or dubstep track these things are like a rollercoaster for your ear drums. Very fun experience and makes you want to listen to music a lot more often.
    One problem is my ears are sore after extended use. Prolly need the XL pads.

    I have the Westone ES5 and I find the M100 feeds my desire for that fun and lively sound that warm and balanced sounding cans like the ES5 seem disregard. Great to have best of both worlds. =)

    I currently own the Crossfade LP2. Had them for almost 2 years now. Never really treated them with the respect they deserve, but they've never flat-out broke on me. I dropped them many times and the earpiece fell out once or twice snapped it back into place and they're good as new. From what I hear the M100 are even more durable. As far as the sound goes, the M100 are a bit on the bassy side, but they don't drown out any other frequencies, but from what I hear the XL pads really balance them out

      This is understated, unless you have small ears the stock will hurt your earlobes. They also increase soundstage and make the highs less harsh. I can’t use these without them, well worth the $20, even adds more plush comfort.

    JUST A HEADS UP! IF YOU BUY THESE GET THE FIIO E18! YOU WILL NOT REGRET IT! The FiiO E18 brings these headphones to life! if you have an android phone its worth buying and using with your phone. If you have an Amp at home or a really good sound card on your PC to hear the true beauty of these headphones you will enjoy it! they are worth 300 for sure just because the built quality is top tier how small it is when you carry it and the warranty plan they have after 2 years are up they give you 50% off your next pair. That alone is just amazing. I got these and popped them on my Galaxy S3 and was upset because how basic it sounds on the GS3 without the amp. I ended up doing research online and found the FiiO E18 and never expected to hear serious bass and how high quality the audio was. Even for movies blu ray movies on my PC sound stunning! bass is so nicely balanced it sounds amazing and has a clean bang to your ears instead of a muddy super bass sound that mess with the mids drastically. Enjoy them, because i know i am.

    Review by someone who actually owns these headphones:
    .Extremely bass intensive, though never to colorize, or distort the latter.
    Extremely recessed mids, may seem hard to find detail in mid-range sounds, may drown out some sounds and vocals completely.
    . These are genre specific, okay for some Rock music or indie rock, pop, not ideal for classical, all in all, these were designed for the basshead who dabbles in copious amounts of electronica.

      JONAHonTHEhill I’ve owned these headphones up until they got stolen plan on buying a new pair today I had lp2 but plan to jump up to m100 these are the best headphones for the money for sure

    • @Rob165x
      @Rob165x Před 3 lety

      Bass intensive is a little exaggerated, the bass is punchy and fun, it doesn’t smear the sound like some Beats do. I don’t think the mids are recessed either, mids and high are pretty good and vibrant but if you really want better soundstage and comfort the XL pads are a must, these are not big ear friendly stock, and the XL will also take some of the harshness from the highs off.

I'm not a fan of the white, but I'm torn between both blacks because I really like the look of the Shadow but worry that it will stain.

  • @drpwnage23
    @drpwnage23 Před 10 lety

    It is the kevlar reinforced cables that can be bent over 1million times, not the headband. The steelflex headband can only be bent flat approx 10+ times, which is more than enough if you want to adjust the clamping force. Don't bend them too much or they will break. The comfort issue will be addressed by the XL pads which can be separately preordered now from the VMODA website.

    ***** I was actually at a Best Buy a few hours to do a comparison on some headphones. I went ahead and turned in the new Beats by Dre Studios for a different pair of headphones. Not that I didn't like the pair, I love them and I listen to music everyday, if not, every week with that pair. So I compared the Studios 2.0 with some other headphones I saw at the time at Best Buy which were: Bose QC Soundtrue, QC 15 & 25; Monster 24k & Adidas; and Sony Extra Bass. After the comparisons, I did remember your review videos about the V Moda Crossfade M100 and they looked pretty good to try out. Hopefully they are as good as how you reviewed it and I make the right decision on what pair I should get.

    Hi UrAvgConsumer! I am currently torn between getting the Momentums or the VModa M100s. Some of the key discussion points:
    - Sound: I like the warm sound of the Senns for classical but also like the bassy punch of the VModas for EDM. I may listen more frequently to EDM though.
    - Looks: The real leather in the Momentum looks amazing while the M100 is made with faux leather. The customization of the M100 looks very cool though
    - Features: The option to daisy chain and plugging the cable on either side is very cool on the M100. It folds for more portability (only points for the M100 here)
    Sorry to rant but I like the idea of owning both and want some insight before putting down $300. Thanks!

    • @UrAvgConsumer
      @UrAvgConsumer  Před 10 lety +19

      Honestly, I say go for the M100. Seems like you know most of the benefits of having it. I like the momentums but I find that the M100 cover a bit more ground. The M100s will also be just fine for classical music. The Momentum are excellent looking headphones but I think the customizability of the M100s not to mention its features, push me more in its direction.
      Either one is a solid choice overall but I definitely enjoyed the M100s more, so it gets my vote.

    He mentions that they may get uncomfortable after a while, I have the Crossover LP version, which is pretty much the same in matters of shape and I can say if you upgrade the ear pads to the XL version they sell you get rid of that problem.
    I have one week since I upgraded to XL and man, it really nails it. It's deeper, wider and a lot more comfortable.

    Hi, I have been doing some research for weeks trying to find the right pair of headphones. I have been watching many of your reviews for guidance but just can't seem to find the perfect pair. So I figured I would ask you for recommendations. I have been using the same SONY MDR-XB700 for years now. I absolutely love them! They sound great and can really take the power I send them through my headphone amp. But I have used them so much that a lot of the material has started to rub off from the headband and cushions. So I have been on the market for a similar pair for a while now. It seems as though the market for large diaphragm ON/OVER EAR headphones has kind of inflated since I purchased these. But I have been having such a tough time finding a pair that comes with EXTRA LARGE cushions like these. Some of the parameters which I would be willing to compromise would be materials/sturdiness/clarity/portability. I really only care about one thing, which is comfort. I purchased a pair of Audio-Technica ATH-PRO700MK2 and although I was impressed with their build/sound quality, compared to my XB700s they're incredibly uncomfortable. Any chance you can help me find a new pair of headphones with GIANT cushions? Thanks

    on his top 5 headphones, he stated the vmodas m100 are his go to headphone when going out, but his favourite are the sony pulses, however sony pulses arent that portable and lack portability.

    Are these good for being in the gym and dealing with sweat and all? because I want but don't want to ruin them

    These, the Amperior and HD-25 are great v-shaped cans, (the "v" or "u" is pronounced the least on the HDs and the most on the M-100 in terms of bass; you get the most detail with the Amperior), or if you want something darker/less harsh with a better midrange, the M-80 would probably be good.
    I personally like the HD-25, but they might not have enough of a low-end hump for some of the more avid bass-lovers who cherish, say, the XB series. I would seriously recomend the M-100 and M-80 if so.
