Thanks for watching!
Absolute legend. Dropped a full Brood War tutorial and then retired. Hats off to you!
It's a shame that there was no CZcams in 99' when I could have really used your tutorials. Just subscribed! I haven't played in 17 years.
Emmanuel Lescouflair right. I had no idea when this came out I just now realized there were hotkeys in the old game.
I remember my brother bought a pretty thick reputable starcraft guide and tutorial book back then. But of course the last page had all the cheat codes and that was all I cared about when I was 4 or 5. Now I'm coming back and playing it right 20 years later
thank god here was no youtube in 99.
haven't played in 19 years. We're on the same boat. But I can still beat my 10 year old son (he just started). LOL.
I feel u
Bro. I'm 30 years old. Never played Statcraft like all my friends did when we were kids. Now I'm playing and I'm questioning my entire existence. Thanks for the tutorials
Same man. I used to love playing g these types of games when i was a kid but now I can't even beat a campaign on easy mode
Same dude 😢
This is the perfect antidote for an overthinker like me. Wish I'd found this sooner. As a noob, I've been focusing on the higher level stuff, like build orders and strategy because that's what fascinates me when I watch pro games. However, it's important to realize that's icing on top of a good macro cake. Yum.
Check out day9tv:s lets learn starcraft series if you haven’t
The prob behing the minerals: "im in my break man" 😄😄
No, he is the manager;p It's like ants when they work there is always this one ant doing "nothing" if you take that ant away another ant takes its place xd
I am a new player to Star Craft and this is very helpful to someone as green as I am. Thank you kindly!
EDIT: Able to max out with Protoss at 15 minutes 5 seconds so far!
EDIT: Got it down to 14 minutes now. Good practice thanks again! :D
Vorchant Hey good work and keep at it. 14 minutes is pretty good for a new player
Same
What’s ur build order?
@@surfyplayer8231 for max out practice I just do a like a 28 nex or 13 nexus cannon depending on what i want to practice
Thats dumb I can max in under 12.
Just built my PC and I still have my disc, been really excited at picking it back up again after SOOOO many years, this is exactly what I was looking for , thank you for your time🤝
Whaaat?! Just reinstaled SCBW after, IDK, 25 years, and got my ass kicked in rush. Then watched this video and won like a walk in the park! So perfect! Thank you!
This is a quality video and very informative. And the touch of turning it into an assignment was the cherry on top lol
This is perfect!!! Thank you so much!
Structured and deliberate goal setting. You need to get paid for this
Great video. I particularly like the calm and positive style of delivery you used in this tutorial. The Bob Ross of Starcraft.
I just discovered the Starcraft masterpiece this month, thank the heavens for your vid.
Thanks for the video Professor Protoss. Made a huge difference to the game for me. Managed 12' 59" on my first go with minerals to the north (spawn was at 12 o'clock) - probably another reason they don't use this map any more for pro games! Definitely going top watch the rest of the series :)
Thanks for the homework! I'm gonna start this today. I've been looking all over CZcams for videos like this and this is exactly what I need. Liked and Subbed. Hope to improve little by little.
What's the homework?
My life for Aiur. Thank you Praetor Professor Protoss.
Just found these videos, and I like it! I've been kind of interested in gettin' gud at SC1 after I learned how to get decent at SC2, but there's not a lot of good tutorials on it. Most of them are just build-order guides. Some of the principles from SC2 carry over, but it's a very different beast, SC1. When I was a kid, I only ever played custom maps and the campaign. I never really bothered with ladder.
I just bought game and beat the campaign before anything else and feel this video is what I have to do right now. Sounds like great advise and am about to do my first 1 vs 1 against a computer and try to replicate this. Thanks!
Just bought sc remastered. Thanks for the turorial! Very helpful!
@Professor Protoss I am a new StarCraft player. Thank you so much for making this video! You are an excellent teacher and and this video was very instructional and easy to follow. I like that you gave specific tips to practice.
Please make more! Could you make a video for Macro with Terran and Zerg? Thanks again for the help!
Finally an actual damn tutorial that’s explains and takes it’s time to push this into our new SC brains 🧠
Great tutorial, gonna be practising this tomorrow!
I don't normally comment on videos but thank you for your guide. A lot of other guides suck because they are not direct and to the point like your tutorials. I used to play SC1 as a kid and was ok. After watching just this tutorial and applying the concepts, i noticed I wasnt rushing to defend my base as often, getting rekt, or being the dead leg on teams. IM looking forward to watching your other videos
This is just the first step. You have to watch the other videos on multi-tasking, micro etc AFTER you master Macro. Watch videos of pros from the vantage point of their screens and see
how they are wearing their keys out like this czcams.com/video/F6y_vVBg6D0/video.html
Thanks for the feedback and keep up the practice!
Fantastic guide. I’ve always wanted to get good at rts. The genre is such wall.
Homework done! I didn't check my time but at least I crushed the terran easily. It works really well! Thanks a lot I'm looking for the next lesson professor ^^
First game I played as a kid, StarCraft, my dad miraculously bought me the “Battle Chest” randomly. After spending countless sleepness nights playing it, I moved onto custom games and eventually switched to Halo.
Bit of advice: when you say something that is StarCraft specific, like gate, cut to the information that will explain it.
I had to learn this stuff by myself back in the day, nice tutorials!
Wow ! Coming back to SC from Chess, I was looking from lots of difference stuff : build order, strategies, best matchups, micro management...
I'm sure your video will save me lots of time lost on things that are too evolved for n00b like me
In Chess, usually it's useless to spend time on opening theory, endgames, strategical thinking if you suck at tactics and miss mate in 1, in 2, given pieces, or game changing easy moves
I guess it's pretty much the same here
Thanks for what may be the most efficient resource I've found so far about how to improve as a total beginner
Keep this work dude! So helpful 😆
I love playing this game with my family on sundays and i usally main protoss so this tutorial is great thank you!
Thank you. I've been practicing every now and then and now I can beat the computer on a 1v1 as a Terran.
Nice job explaining the macro aspect of this game!
Just starting to get into the game recently since my love for these kind of games got renewed. Thank you for this tutorial !!
I'm a total newbie and this helped alot, like your pfp by the way (:
@@thermostatlord2205 Thanks! I like yours as well :D
Great vid man. Great drilling prof protos!
Great tutorial! This alone helped me go from losing to the ai (badly) to beating them with ease. Guess I can play against 2 opponents now.
i just got back into this thru nostalgia but i got crushed i honestly knew all this just needed to hear it again bcuz its been 18 years since ive played starcraft lol
I've done my homework today my first game 32mins :S of course zerg fully upgraded
My second game 26mins Zerg 70 of the supply were ultralisk fully upgraded also hydra a d zerglings
Not quite sure how to adapt the homework to zerg but I'm going to keep practicing thanks man by the tutorial I'm a new player
I'm going to watch all your tutorials
Just started, took me 20 minutes to max protoss, experimented more with buying more gateways but didn't have the minerals to back it up and keep producing on two bases
Great tutorial, man! It really helped!
i just started playing. thanks for this
I'm a noob. This is 4 me. Thank u. Subscribed
Thank you so much! This was so helpful.
Looks like I've been playing the wrong way for 15 years :d Thanks man, I'll try this out
perfect tutorials
thank you professor protoss i love you
Love this tutorial. Started at 18-19 and after bunch of times i have reached around 15:00
Thank you so much this will help me get alot of better and get the courage to play online lol.
Great!
This game is legendary!
amazing
impresive, thank you so much
abismal6 thanks!
Thank you!
Top man
16:10 this is the most important part for anyone looking for it
Thank you for making these videos
Brilliant teaching style, do you have experience with this already? Lol
Excellent video, thoroughly entertaining
This is exactly what I am looking for, keep up the good work!!! Maybe in the future you can teach us about hotkeys for macro and micro.
Gotta liek get uber micro
Thank you for this
Went to Korea and met some guys. They said they were noobs, turns out they can play all 3 races pretty well. Noob in Korea has a different meaning LOL.
Here, 2023, Sunday morning. Let’s go!
Damn when remastered came out (can't believe it's 6 years ago now!!) I just played the campaign and watched ASL. WHY am I only now just getting into the MP... lol it';s a very satisfying game.
Power Overwhelming...thats all you need
new to this whole macro micro shit. I just play the game but im into it now. so thank you
Tried this today for the first time and lost at 9.00 because i didn't build enough units. 2nd try i maxed out at 17.50 after sacrificing a few units defending the second attack. Good stuff man, why did no one come up with that sooner ?
got it in 5 mins. i mean 5 mins for finishing watching your video :))DD
Danke für dieses Vidoe:-)
This is gold
You're a good teacher. Do you want a job teaching game tutorials? DM me.
Do you have an example of how to macro with Zerg? Being the Overlords have control of the capacity, when do you include them in the Drone building?
The probe in the middle mineral Patch Is off work duty lol xD
thanks.
Graciass
I feel like it's important to hotkey your gateways/barracks more because you need to be able to build units in the heat of battle without going back to look at your base. You keep fighting and moving the rally points closer.
His point is that it's more important for a noob to macro. The other stuff comes later.
It's only practical when you have a few production buildings. If you have more it's better to screen position over them.
No observers/photon cannons can be trouble. A few cloaked units can take you out.
True, but the purpose of this is to build mechanics and worry about the strategy and timings later. Gotta walk before you can run
Starcraft 64 noob guide when?
I have Starcraft 2 and I can actually beat the AI on medium despite being a slowpoke. SC1/BW though? nope, I can't do it, but your video has been instructive, so maybe revisiting the oldie won't be so terribad as it used to be for me.
nice guide BUT question... your recommendation hotkey ? as in control group
When i played sc bw, i thought we only need worker = mineral amount xD
do you hotkey your gateways?
How many workers can be on mineral/gas? Coming as a new player from sc2 and its a bit weird bc you dont get specifics. The answer to this is 16-24.
Can you rally build pylons/gateways? The answer to this is NO you can not in starcraft 1, however you can build something then rally to minerals or gas holding shift. Not as amazing as sc2 but still a good mechanic to use.
I know its been a long time but Thank you for making this video ❤ 2022 new sc player haha 😅
How do you know which buildings to build? It would help if you explained why you chose the order that you did
The amount of gateways had me rolling
Good educational video. But, for example, playing as terran vs. computer is harder, due to one huge difference. As protoss, you can build everuthing using 1 probe at a time. As terran i can't maximize my supplies, becasuse 1 scv can't build multiple buildings at once. So, what's your advise? Ignore when computer is harassing me and focus on mastering the skill of macro? (p.s. sry for my bad eng)
How do you build with the keys I always click on the build menu is that bad?
How did you widescreen this!!!???
how do you select only your marines from your army of several different units ? which hot key do I use to do that ?
Ctrl key
First try, 20 minutes. Second try, 13 minutes. O.O
For fun, I took that max army and tried to attack the AI, and they almost wiped my marines out, but I took out 2 of their 3 bases.
Bro why did you stop making videos? The game is back on the rise. We need tutorials. Please
Haven't played SC in a while (8 years or so) i'm finding it very hard to compete against the CPU. The CPU would've probably rushed me at the 9:00 min mark with 10 marines or something and that would be game over for me. Do you think it's a good idea to practice against the CPU at all?
Playing with the CPU is very different from playing with a real person. CPUs are more predictable but have less latency between each action, while human strategies are near unlimited but their response time can vary. CPU is good for basic practice on build orders and macro, but probably not micro (because there's not much micro for CPU).
Professor I have a question. So I can only select up to around 12 units at a time, and my army is usually bigger than that. How do you suggest I handle commanding all my army at once when I can only select around 12 at a time?
I usually save my first 3 hotkeys for army. I use 4 for gateway 5 for robo and 098 for nexus. If you need 4 control groups because you’re army is that big use 1234 and gateway 5 robo 6
@@professorprotoss6552 but you have multiple gateways how do you just use 4? After going to 4 just gotta select the others?
Girish The WordCaster yep. Make sure to build them close together and to rally them by right clicking where you want the u it’s to go after they come out
Consistently building probes 1 after another after they are done queueing but i dont get full army until like 25 minutes and when i do... ummm i have a SHIT TON of probes... also... i feel like im doing something wrong here... like ill have probably 60-100 probes... and my income is super low... all meanwhile being on 1 base ish sometimes 2? later in the game once my army grows bigger i can expand to 2-3 bases and when i expand thats when i notice the money flowing in quicker, but on only 1-2 bases it can be kind of iffy tbh on mineral income like iffy as in slower than it should be with 60+ probes on 1 nexus imo
sc2 only allows 16 so i wonder if more than that means im not getting any more?
same for only 3 on assimilator on sc2, in version 1 u can add more to the assimilator but i also assume only 3 and anymore is not getting you any more gas correcT?
been focusing on not letting minerals grow past 500 and been doing really good there, the main issue is the amount of mineral income sometimes, and then also... like sometimes i just feel like i have way too many probes... lmao esp since the probes are sposed to give me mineral income and they arent...
Noticing at 32 supplies u go for 2nd nexus... which... is fine... im producing a lot of probes and like at 70/75 ill be at base one still... maybe the multiple probes on one nexus is the issue im running into why i cant max army at 12 mins?
Just looked it up and it is the same as SC2, only 16 is most efficient anymore is doable depending on preferences but the worker individually is less efficient somethign about 22 per nexus is best but i think ill stick to 16 for awhlie that should help me speed up my bench marks :)
By expanding the nexus and upping my income once i figured out 16 to mineral i had double the units of cpu at 13 mins into the game and just atk'd to end bc i had more units and techs 120units to 60 units, with a couple mroe runs i should be able to max army at 12 mins too i think.
THANK YOU again for laying out the fundamentals... even though im still on step 1, at least there is a clear direction of how to improve :)
generally when your fighting against another player, you will want to use any units you have to attack them So a game will last over 10 mins, you will end up with 60 probes but not really going to need more after that. 60 probes is good for 4 to 5 bases. It's good to have itleast 12 probes per base so they are not waiting to mine, it all depends on how many bases you can get and how many resources you have. As long as your destroying something and making more units and getting enough resources then you shouldn't need more probes. But it's always good to start at the beginning, more probes, more pylons, I always try to make more gateways closer to the enemy in new bases so that my units are not traveling very far .
When I have a second base built the computer always comes and shoots it down. I keep dying before I can max out. How can I stop the computer from attacking while I practice this? At what point should you start building more infantry?
Good question. If you are Protoss or Terran you should aim to have 2-3 gateways or 2-3 factories non stop building per base. So don’t expand unless you notice your production facilities are queuing up too many units. Typically 1-2 units queued per building is fine anymore and you should spend resource on expanding / more buildings. This is the simplest way of course things change as you get better and you might need to build more depending on what you scout
What if I rqlly point nexus to crystals? Is prob after show up go to the crystal and start mining?
Damian Kowalski in this game no. They will just sit next to the minerals. In Starcraft 2 that works
First build worker, then spread IMO
This strategy works great for Protoss, but would you say it's different for Terran/Zerg because you have to give up your units to build?
Terran economy works the same way. Always build SCVs. Zerg's economy works differently because of Larvae. But as a beginner you really need not worry about that yet. Like explained in the vid, you need to understand that building workers at all times is paramount before any strategy or build order comes to mind
can't you just put all nexuses in one control group and make probes from all of them? or does this only work in sc2?
Only in sc2. Cannot group buildings into same hotkey in bw.
Can you do one for Zerg?
Watching this made me feel like my life was meaningless and my time was going into the dumpster. Good teaching for sure, but unfortunately i just cant practice this lol
First time I played this online ive never been beat in the first 5 mins so bad
Apparently honey badger learned to play Starcraft.
will this work for Terran?
It only took me 20 years to learn how to make computer alloes
