    TPAB is a really long and dense record, i wouldn't blame people for not making it all the way through, at least the first time round, it took a million listens for me to "get" that album, and it's amazing for sure.

      i feel like i need to get on genius or watch some vids to help break down the meaning of this album bc it’s so lyrically and musically dense. 2nd listen and there’s some stuff that i don’t understand

    • @milamberyt
      @milamberyt Před 9 měsíci +1

      @@gabriieIl personal recommendation if you've got the time, just listen to the album, and then whenever you get to a song you feel lost in, (lost meaning that you're not really feeling or understanding it) restart the record, get acquainted with the previous songs again, if you still don't get the song, just get past it and get familiar with the rest, when in doubt, restart the entire record, put songs on repeat incessantly, they're really catchy you've just gotta give them time in your ears!

      It’s really just not that type of album that is supposed to be in daily rotation. You have to be in a specific mood to listen to it most of the time, although you can still take songs out of it into your daily rotation, like alright, king kunta, the blacker the berry, etc.

It was actually the first Drake album I got into during quarantine and hearing it, I just wanted the album to be over so badly and thank god I reached the end as I just let the album play. At least I was able to listen to more of Drake overtime mainly from 2011-2015 and Her Loss. That alone was something else way more better compared to an album like Scorpion or Dark Lane Demo Tapes

    Invincible by Michael Jackson is the longest MJ album objectively looking at it by runtime, but it definitely feels like it. The first part is cool, with some heavy beats and sweet R&B balladry. If the album stopped right there i'd be happy. But then in the second half there are so many songs that feel half-baked and unfinished and are just boring/cheesy ballads that drag the record longer than it should be. The album ends kinda nicely but by that point you wish you were listening to Off The Wall instead.

    I feel like that’s unfair to 69 Love Songs, but maybe it’s just a casualty of streaming. On CD it’s split up into three volumes which makes the listening more manageable, as well as making the three, twenty three song, chunks feel more distinct from each other. For my own benefit I ended up making separate playlists for each disc but I get not everyone is going to be that hung up on it. But yeah, damn, I would not be able to listen to it straight the way it’s on Spotify, & I hope that the way it’s presented doesn’t scare people off of this record cause it’s so so good.

    • @xwexarexbulletsx
      @xwexarexbulletsx Před 9 měsíci

      I feel like Humanz' songs on their own are really good, but there's something in the album track placement that makes it a slodge. It happened to me with the latest Vampire Weekend album. Every song is awesome, but listening to them in one sitting is an ardous task. Is it filler? There may be songs in both albums that could be taken out, but then you listen to those songs and they ARE great. However, both albums have interludes and spoken word parts that just cut the mood instantly. It may be that the reason they feel so long, like you say.

Multiple artists have multiple features. There's only 2 songs with only trippie. The mixing and production ranges from pretty great to levels of bad where you sit and think how the hell did dozens of people hear this and approve it. It took till last month for KRZY TRAIN to get its mix fixed because when the album came out the mix was straight up not finished like they had to mix the song with only 30 minutes till the album dropped. If he didn't drop a love letter to you 5 I'd say this was easily the worst year for trippie

      When I listened to that record for the first time, I stopped midway through Knees. My throat was hurting so bad and I couldn't take it anymore. Maybe I wasn't in a good place and I could relate to it, maybe that's a factor, but that album crushed my soul I swear.

    For me it’s Xiu Xiu’s _A Promise._ I listened to it on a whim about eight years ago now, thinking it would be some kind of indie rock album (even with that unsettling cover). Nope. I made it four tracks in before I had to shut it off because it was so deeply upsetting to me.
    The resulting depression left me puking my guts out for the next 24 hours, and it took me at least a couple of weeks to emotionally recover. I also made the mistake of listening right before bed, so that was fun. I know it may sound like an overreeaction - and in retrospect, it may have been - but in my defense, it’s fucking Xiu Xiu. I still have no intention of ever listening to “Apistat Commander” all the way through.

      @@no-vk2qeI think people that watch fantano's regular content are those who are gonna look beyond the sound of a track and listen to things like lyrics, dare about song meaning, want to feel a connection to a track... drake offers none of that and his selling point is having a vibe and creating catchy tracks for radio. Ofc this audience is not gonna love his music and it shouldn't be surprising
