Are you concerned about accessing your money while traveling or living overseas? In this video we will discuss some of the challenges and risks with your money living and traveling overseas.
Capital One credit cards do not charge extra for use overseas.
I have used Capital One without any issues in several foreign countries.
Money transfer services may close your account at any time without notice so you should have a backup plan. Also, do not wait until the last minute to access your funds as there may be an issue as discussed.

Great video: Have atleast 10 new $100 bills stowed away for emergency use. Typhoon season is coming up. After a nasty one, EVERYONE is in line at the ATM or worse, the machines are offline for days or weeks. This strategy saved my butt while living thru 2 months of power outages in Boracay after typhoon Yolanda steamrolled us.

That's exactly what happened to my wife's home with Odette in December of '21. Luckily they had an insider at Cebuana and we got a large sum sent and distributed without anyone having to wait in the huge line. I was disappointed at myself for not anticipating that ahead of time but I was just starting training with a new job and had other things on my mind.

Great video, There have been a few cases of UK ex-pats suddenly having their bank accounts frozen and blocked with no warning,HSBC appear to be the biggest culprits. They blame money-laundering laws but they've just been "outed" as being wrong in the way they've been interpreting them, which of course is too late for those they've caused major trauma in the past, not least as they've also been refusing to even explain why to the customers involved.
As far as I know now all UK banks will at least query your account if you're out of the country for 6 months or more and if it's permanent they'll ask you to go elsewhere, again all to do with money-laundering and anti-fraud laws.

Interesting. Thanks Dave. Banking may become more difficult and there are many pushing for "digital" money that can be tracked by the governments.

Small & Med Banks are failing/ bankrupt every day in the USA. They are canceling many peoples accounts for no reason....we buy silver & gold online using Chase, they don't like that! Getting rid of the fake federal reserve paper...gold & silver is up. at over $2400 and silver $32 ounce...who buys Gold in the Phils? can you sell Gold at spot price at pawn shops? Or coin shops?

Would like to know this too. I considered buying a couple gold coins as a backup for my wife & kids' extended stay in the Philippines but ultimately ran out of time to act on it. I'm worried bad actors could target and interrupt the international banking systems.

Its best to send small amounts £500 $550 multiple times rather than large amounts. Large amount transfer can be cancelled.
Transactions are flagged and security checked if it's more x amount. Some remittance may pull up 35k pesos some 49k. If it's flagged they will asks questions like your employment and where the funds came from. Some places will only allow so much in a six month period so if you go over £9000 or $12000 they can suspend payments.
Ultimately you need a blend of credit cards, bank cards and remittance.

I assigned my daughter with POA to my US Bank account and i carry a Charles Swab card for any ATM with draws, Hotel or Airline tickets. I have traveled internationally between Thailand and the Philippines for years. I have never had a situation where I could not get funds to support my travels.

@@AmazingPhilippines1you were in the right hospital. I had an overnight in a provincial hospital and had to send my gf to get the cash to pay the bill because the hospital wouldn’t accept credit cards. I understand that’s the case at many hospitals, even in metro areas including Manila. So be prepared.

You're a baller if you can afford an HSBC account. You need 5K/mo in DD or 75K balance to avoid monthly fees. Anyone familiar with a free SDFCU account?

I'm adding PNB to my list of Banks the next time I get to LA, Seattle or Las Vegas. I have a Transfer Service set up already & will set up two more before I leave for the Philippines in October. Nord VPN will be a lifesaver overseas.

The PNB here in Vegas is inside the Seafood City. It says "Remittance Center" so I'm not sure if it's an actual bank branch where you could open an account. I'd call ahead before making a special trip.

This is why I will probably get Chime online banking, they are a bank where you can either keep your primary account in your country or go with them , I will try to get Chime, G cash and set up a account with PNB bank here in America so I can add money here before moving to the Philippines, I will see if Chime will be able to do everything my current bank does and I might use them as a primary account since they are a international banking company. But I would prefer to keep my current bank but I don’t want to be cut off from my money either

Some of those Fintech companies are failing. Truist bank just stopped its pre-paid secured bank cards because the go between company (Synapse I think it was) just suddenly went belly up. Chime is what I've switched to because they're so large in the states. I preload the account for my daughter at the moment. My plan when we finally leave the US is to have money sent to multiple accounts with multiple methods of transfer. My oldest will be on those accounts too so she can iron out any issues I have. I'm also taking cash when I leave
