Try traveling in mumbai local then try giving gyaan about deforestation..the amount of deforestation caused by encroachment by slums protected by politicians gor votebank
This (and all other similar projects) are ABSOLUTELY ESSENTIAL for the commuters of Mumbai. I have spent more than 50 years travelling in the super-densely packed suburban locals as there were no options when travelling for work (with heart in my mouth on several occasions that I would be ejected onto the tracks from a moving train due to the pressure of the crowd). Why do these hi-fi protesters(including Aaditya Thackerey), who largely travel by personal cars are making so much noise about a project which has been approved by the Green Tribunal and the courts right up to the SC.
Nowadays these foreign funded activists have a new modus operandi.. they basically have two teams.. one team works on the ground. It's job is to create a mob and create a lot of ruckus and noise and try to stall the project on the ground. Meanwhile their another team works online. They simultaneously launch a twitter and FB campaign and try to involve international agencies to try to build pressure on the Govt from international community. You can see this pattern in almost all recent events in India.
Because they are funded by NGOs who arrange Hi-fi party, cruise. These NGOs are funded by George Soros, ISI, Dawood who needs India to be poor and begging.
I really hate environmental activists. By now the metro would have prevented so much pollution. I really doubt their intention. There should be some way to cut off these activists funding.
Well put sir. As a Mumbai resident directly impacted by metro works outside my house I'd like to share an anecdote about it's construction. Other than traditional Bombay city (Mahim to Nariman point), every part of the metro is being built over ground, on the roads. For a city with only 9% of it's land mass as roads (as you quoted) this means the metro won't get close to many hotspots where you can get off and say walk moderate distances (5-10 minutes, 300-500 mts) to your destination as you would abroad. Case in point is the airport road station which is at least 1km away from your terminal and not connected to the airport. We're also building pillars on already crowded roads in suburban Bandra to Dahisar. Crucially, from Bandra to Andheri all of its overground on a congested road - SV road. Almost all of this stretch was underground in the original plan, the government changed and it's now all overground. Despite citizen protests, they weren't entertained. Giant infrastructure projects like this need planning and thinking from a 100 year perspective as minimum. It seems like the government wants to build with brute force rather and bag the credit for building. And Mumbai as a city continues to get second grade treatment.
Wouldn’t overground make much more sense in a city like Mumbai - the rains are insane and I can imagine that all that water would just flood the trains. The pillars are not ideal but it seems like it is the best solution among those available.
@@voicification Its underground in 30% of the city anyways. And if we can dig tunnels from two sides and roads over the sea, ensuring the rains above ground don't flood the trains below ground should be fairly straightforward.

I think it's very important to construct an extensive metro network, especially in Mumbai. Activists should understand that this will reduce the pollution caused by cars and will also save time. Further government can assure that they will push for EV and more renewable energy projects. Additionally they can assure to afforest certain land to offset the deforestation in Aarey area. I think that activists need to be more constructive in their approach.

I have been listening to these abridged versions since last few weeks and a recent CTC viewer like me is intrigued by it. I would like to listen to such masterpieces once or twice a week even after shekhar sir comes back from his break :)
Very nicely covered. I myself experienced a lot of illogical opposition for some project from a group of elites even though some other very well known experts were backing the project. At one stage a suggestion came to shift the entire project to some other location in another state. Fortunately we could find an alternative which averted such drastic change in the plan. Logic, benefits to a larger no. of people should be kept in mind for any decision. It would be great if all the concerned people keep it in mind.
When I went to China in 2003 and saw all the wide roads and other infrastructure, I told myself that if someone started something like that in India, there will be some activist or other blocking it. Government should have transplanted the trees in these activists houses.

@CONFID3NC3 UPA brings all these ideas during their last year of their rule. Hopes people will vote again based on those last minute promises. Sekharji, let me introduce myself, Iam an engineer and an activist and have been worked towards trying to improve mumbai 's infrastructure. I have done more than 50 TV debates on various channels related to railways and infrastructure. I have also been a member of the accident commite which was consisting of MPs the Municipal commissioner of Mumbai, Kalyan & dombivali & GM central railway to look into the congestion issue in the rail network & solutions thereto . I have already made an extensive plan to solve the entire issue and a part of which concerning CBTC was sanctioned by Shri Piyush Goyal when he was the railway minister. I have already discussed the metro shed issue with CM Fadnavis in his earlier term and the gist of which is as under. 1)The Metro line 3 has a fundamental flaw, as metro lines are designed to connect a major residential area to a place of work (commercial office area , Industrial area or Market area), metro line 3 connects major office areas WITHOUT connection to a major residential area from which people travel to these office areas to work. 2) metro line 3 connects to the international Airport without connection to the central and western railway somewhere near it's centre point. I had suggested some design changes 1) That the Colaba end of the metroline 3 be connected with a below sea tunnel (8.2 km) to Mora Gao in Uran and a car shed be created there. 2) That an above ground line using the railway land be used to further connect this line to the proposed new international airport and then further to Panvel station. The advantage this would give is a major new residential area can be thus created of about 200 Sq km partly solving mumbai's huge housing problem and which would change the shape of Mumbai from a narrow V to a semicircle. This would also serve as an airport line connecting the two airports and it's three terminals Also it would be very cost effective as the on ground line costs 30 cr/km compared to an elevated or underground line which would cost between 500 to a 1000cr/km in Mumbai. I was told at that point by fadnavis ji that the Navy might not give permission for this tunnel which I believe needs to be resolved if Mumbai has to ever compete.with Shanghai in terms of infrastructure. Ketan goradia.

Who are these activities? 2. Are they NGOs filing cases. 3. If they are NGOs where do they get funds? 4. If they are getting foreign FUNDS, What is these foreigners' interest in giving money, and why are they concerned about Indian lands? Are you interested in knowing anything about the lands of Europe/Russia or etc? I would be thankful to you if you know these.
I guess you are not updated about Bombay renamed as Mumbai. Honestly we mumbaikars get upset on hearing the word "Bombay". It reminds us of the British rule. BTW very good analysis.
Wow you have been very very positive towards the common people. Yes the activism should be positive. I saw only 20/25 people, no support from the common commutor who is suffering last 3 years. The petrol burnt in the traffic jam has done more damage than the tree cutting.
It would have been better,if you had Bombay with Istanbul. Both cities have similar topography, population, density of people etc. However, activists are hell bent on disturbing this project. Already they have been successful in increasing the cost by more than 45%. They are totally self serving instead serving the city.
It's simple. China has a system to interrupt development in potential competitors. People get cash awards for doing this. That's why the operatives are so energetic. They find every possible way to exploit the system to slow or stop development.
Of these 30,000 crores , 11,198.33 crores have already been invested , 61% of tunelling work ,40% station work completed and 10 system contracts awarded. A day’s delay in this project would cost ₹4.3 crores. Now for a fun fact - The entire Royal Palms project , which includes a golf course, is sandwiched between Sanjay Gandhi National Park and Aarey Milk Colony, Also , the entire Film City is practically an encroachment of Sanjay Gandhi National Park. And if you compare old and new satellite images of film city , you will see how many trees have been cut to make way for studios and sets. Both of these are much bigger than Metro Car-shed. But none of the NGO brigade and activists protested against Royal Palms and Film Industry. Also , most Bollymorons who travel in big diesel guzzling SUVs even when they are travelling alone and sometimes even use private jets are suddenly pretending to care for environment. Do not bother about them. As these celebrities have a much higher carbon footprint lifestyle than common Mumbaikars. Do not fall for these hypocrites’ propaganda. If they indeed care about trees , first thing these celebs should do is lobby with production houses and get them to collectively return more than 30 hectares of their land to the state government for afforestation. Not many celebs would use the metro to travel to film city and events , despite the fact that it would be possible for them to do so from Bandra ,Juhu as well as Lokhandwala once the metro network comes up. Any stalling of Line 3 metro work would have a huge negative impact on several other infrastructure projects. Do not allow this. Do share this post in National interest. Even feel free to copy paste it with/without credits. Also copy paste and send it to your whatsapp contacts especially Mumbaikars.

Exactly
@@waveaxis true but I think 100% underground might be easier said than done. Anyhow, for a deeply infrastructure starved city in a deeply infrastructure starved country any solution is welcome.

The MVA had appointed a committee to find an alternative site for the car shed and the committee reported that Aaray was the only feasible alternative for the car shed.
I have been listening to these abridged versions since last few weeks and a recent CTC viewer like me is intrigued by it. I would like to listen to such masterpieces once or twice a week even after shekhar sir comes back from his break :)
Now-a-days it is good to see Mr. Shekar Gupta has become a well matured person in accordance with his age.
It's Mumbai not Bombay.

I had suggested some design changes
1) That the Colaba end of the metroline 3 be connected with a below sea tunnel (8.2 km) to Mora Gao in Uran and a car shed be created there.
This would also serve as an airport line connecting the two airports and it's three terminals
Also it would be very cost effective as the on ground line costs 30 cr/km compared to an elevated or underground line which would cost between 500 to a 1000cr/km in Mumbai.
I was told at that point by fadnavis ji that the Navy might not give permission for this tunnel which I believe needs to be resolved if Mumbai has to ever compete.with Shanghai in terms of infrastructure.

Now for a fun fact -
The entire Royal Palms project , which includes a golf course, is sandwiched between Sanjay Gandhi National Park and Aarey Milk Colony,
Also , the entire Film City is practically an encroachment of Sanjay Gandhi National Park.

@@inderjeetsingh8673 are you serious 🗿
@@aakashsen7344 Yes I am serious. There are already ac local trains with absurd ticket prices.
@@inderjeetsingh8673 Half the passengers travelling to work today would have to sit at home if the doors in locals had to close.
@@inderjeetsingh8673 You are super lucky to be rich and bathing in gold my friend. But others are not. Not everyone can buy an AC train ticket. That's why govt. has to run ordinary non-AC trains with open doors along with AC trains and Metro. ✌
Honestly technically there's no hurdle left for Arey Carshed project. Hope it gets completed soon...
The same AARE as a company out on sale just before UT resigned why ?? Who's interest.....Aarey has a huge plant opposite Worli sea face ..
We badly need public transport systems in Mumbai. Please guys speed up the process and complete the Metros..
If the shed can be built somewhere else why didn't they built it in these 2.5 years
why all those environmentalist cant see the sanitation problem in the slums, the direct removal of industrial waste in sea water all of this happing in mumbai too.how many rich folks use public transport
Sir I respect your view… but if the car is done it’s good but I will tell uh the mumbai will be more polluted as the same as the the Delhi coz this will straighten way give the entry for having their projects into the arey … Do once visit the land before your view but if uh have and alternate option it’s better to have a option rather than taking this land
Delhi pollution is not due to vehicles. it is a myth. Delhi already has more EV rickshaws and scooters compared to all other metro. The pollution comes from migrants using substandard fuel, such as paper, cow dung, etc, which emits a lot of ash. If you look at Delhi particulate emissions, it is mostly ash and quite less of SOX and NOX than before.
Beautiful just beautiful sir.... You have decluttered my mind for sure. I hope some activities are watching this as well
Not liking this new format with screen on the back and SG not seated.
Sir, I thoroughly enjoy your insights on this topic and all other relevant topics you bring for the audience. Really appreciate your non-partisan journalism. Big fan!
It's Mumbai, Mumbai and Mumbai
Its both Mumbai and Bombay. Bombay has a legacy that we should carry forward with us. Mumbai is the city that we're building for the 21st century
@@tush991 why not to call Chennai Madras then
@@omkathe3599 i do. Madras sounds better.
I don't see any issue in construction of this metro yard...!!
As a mumbaikar, we go through daily hardship in travelling specially in morning and evening....metro will provide too much comfort to us.
If anyone seeing it as a destruction pls plant 10 trees for 1 trees ...!!

It's Mumbai not Bombay
Very well explained . Thank you very much. I was really wondering how the government went ahead and cut so many trees with people protesting so vehemently but you have indeed CUT THE CLUTTER.
Money is an issue that every one has for a better and luxurious life, was hard for me until I started investing in Bitcoin trading and am now earning $56,435 per week with an initial capital of $13,000.
For you to be financially independent, you will need to have some gut but don't ever make the mistake of believing the market success has to come to you overnight,Trade with what you can afford, stay in the game, persist and eventually you will reach a satisfying level of proficiency.
Alot of light has been brought to this and only those who are able to identify the opportunity that comes with it have and are still benefiting from it.
@Zhang wei Quite interesting. I've never made such returns in stocks💚.
