@@DigjamSarmah That's only partially true. Disinvestment started well before 1991 balance of payment crisis. It was only formalised with a policy in 1991.
Capitalisation in no part of the world happened by choice. American economists where hesitant to be capitalists and US govt has broke down many large companies before they did what they did to reduce government burden.
I am only saying congress disinvested and privatized bigger companies than AIr India during UPA regime. I appreciate the governments showing continuity. The XYZ comment applies to Modi as well. If not Modi, another govt will sell Air India. There is no reason to believe otherwise. Look up the history of disinvestment since 1980s. Larger disinvestments where done by congress. I’m a fan of LPG reforms but there is difference between wanting to reform the economy on your own accord and reforming the economy because you are forced to do so. This is the reason why privatisation push by current government is hailed so well that it is privatising even though people are criticising and no one is forcing it to privatise it either

Businessmen from Bombay created "Bombay plan" and submitted to then central government to look seriously on it.
Even Baba Saheb (for me he was the true Father of Nation) wrote and spoke about it (as he was having Phd in economics and was very well in Economics). Unfortunately Nehru took no once advice and fallowed Soviet plan reducing India to a begging bowl. You can get these information from a book named "India Unbound", may be many people have written about it.

@@theultimateshield5133 I guess the issue with capitalism/socialism/communism is much for fundamental than how they differ in ideology, policies, approach and outlook.
I guess any ideology/policy which puts too much power on one single hand, or on the hands of a select few, it's bound to fail. It isn't a question of if, but when. Like every other creature, human beings are also hard-wired by Mother Nature to work towards self-preservation, and at all levels, including personal level. What happens is, we might get 2 or 3 or 4 successive good and honest leaders but the moment a corrupt leader prioritising self-preservation assumes power in a socialist/communist set-up, things start going downhill rapidly. There's no dearth of such examples.
Capitalism has it's dark side too, but I guess capitalism allows for more checks and balances as compared to socialism or communism and hence it looks better compared to the others, but I guess we are also starting to witness the ill-effects of hard-core capitalism.
Speaking of Nehru and most other debaters of socialism/communism vs capitalism, I wonder why we ignore our own past. We are a continuous surviving civilisation for over 5000 years and still counting. We couldn't have achieved that if we had messed up our economic policies, we wouldn't have survived even 5 years, let alone 5000 years.
