Hi Jamie! The recording of "That's All Right" included as the lead song on 1973's "ELVIS ~ A LEGENDARY PERFORMER, VOLUME 1" (actually released in January 1974) sounded better (in my opinion) with less echo/reverb than the recordings on the two albums you mentioned. 22:25 Please go take a listen and see if you agree. Thanks
Hi, Paul! You are correct - that's the original RCA master, iirc! I was thinking that was late 70s for some reason, not 1974. Thankfully, the point still stands largely if not 100%; for the general public, or those making fakes, you won't think about that album first; you'll think of one with "Sun" in the title. It is pretty hilarious, though, that a track from "A Legendary Performer Volume 2" was used, but not "That's All Right" from volume one.
ONE OF THE MOST IMPORTANT VIDEOS EVER on Elvis Music/Record Legacy 👍👌✌️
THANK YOU🙏 John and Jamie; it's Brilliant!
Thank you so much, Harald! So glad you liked it!
You can't get any more in-depth than this! Superb work guys, looking forward to season 3.
Thank you so much! Lots of fun coming in Season 3! :)
Great introduction to the new season!
The story behind the "That's All Right" acetate brought to mind an occurrence in my local area several years back.
A local history museum purchased what was advertised as a rifle that once belonged to a well-known officer of the local federal court in the 19th century (my local history is tied to the Indian Territory that is now Oklahoma). A panel discussion was organized, several local history researchers and professors were invited to speak.
Until a researcher that I knew was able to prove, using empirical sources, that the rifle in question was not what the museum purported it to be. All of a sudden, the researcher was uninvited to the event, and the advertising was switched without notice or explanation. And to date, as far as I know, the museum has yet to publicly admit that they were duped.
The history of pirated and bootleg records is fascinating, and perhaps those in charge at Graceland could use this opportunity to include it as part of their narrative surrounding Elvis. Although... I doubt that will happen!
Onwards... and sideways!
Thank you, Mark, and thank you for sharing that! Yeah, that happens far too often, sadly. But thanks to this, we now know a lot more on the subject, and others will, too, so that Elvis fans out there will have an easier time spotting these. 😁
Finally watched it the whole way through! Bravo on the research!! So fascinating!! And SUPER informative!! ⚡✨💝
Thank you so much! Yeah, the info about these things is something we found fascinating, too. They're fake, but they're still cool to look at, lol!
Very cool! Thanks for using some of our footage in your research!! ⚡✨🙌💝
Thank you! And thank you so much for letting us use the video, I really appreciate that! :)
Great stuff boys, thanks for sharing. Well worth the wait!
Thank you so much! Half the wait was getting my PC to cooperate, lol!
Love it, thank you, sirs!
Fantastic job guys! Chapeau! Thanks alot for everything you do! Looking forward to season 3! TCB ⚡
Thank you so much! And you're very welcome - I'm glad you liked it, and thank you on Season 3, as well!
Great work and important information to correct the story. Nice job!
Thank you! Yeah, we just kept finding stuff, it was wild! :)
Very nice detective work guys! Clearly and simply explained- leaving no doubt about the actuate. Truthfully once it was said that it played at 45 RPM it had to a fake. Thank you and looking forward to the new series 🎵
Thank you, I really appreciate that! And very cool - season three will be similar to season 2, but we do have some differences that we're excited about!
Thank you Jamie and John for your in depth historic research to this. This is one if the best videos so far IMHO.
Thank you! It's certainly not our usual format, but we'll revisit this style for special occasions. 😁
Fantastic investigation!!! You all are to be applauded for this in depth and very informative presentation. Excellent points made by all and the evidence is all there without any doubt. “Just the facts” as Joe Friday would say and the facts in this were all there. Thank you for all your hard work. This truly is a movement and I agree that the information as presented with the initial unveil by EPE was done under good faith but hey.. we are all human. May the spirit never die and keep Takin Care of Business ⚡️ -Rick Anthony ETA
Seems so obvious now. Thank you guys for your work. Hopefully, your work will protect a lot of people from purchasing fake items "from" other artists as well.
Great documentary guys. Nice to see people doing proper research and seeking out facts rather than just guessing. Sending you best wishes from the UK
Thank you so much! Yeah, we shoot from the hip when we're on the couch (it's an informal setting), but as we were finding info, we knew we wanted to make a different kind of video, and wanted to get it right - at least for a cursory dive into this. There's more, but these are the easiest tells of Lee's work that anyone can see.
Awesome Sleuthing! 🕵️. felt like I was watching an investigative documentary !
Thank you!! And lol, yep - that full-on 90's "Unsolved Mysteries" spoof music at the beginning (which is meant tongue-in-cheek, but subtly) definitely has that going for it! I used to love the music on those when that was on!
Great Detective Work Gentlemen
Thank you! 😁
Amazing research buddy! So great that the truth is revealed about these accetates. I like this new format. On the side note, it was great to see your dad in the show. It's been decades since I have seen him. Keep up the good work, along with john. 😃
Thanks so much, Claudio! And this isn't the new format, just something we're breaking out for special occasions - I need a new PC if we want these very often, lol (I need a new one, anyway, but still.. lol) And very cool - I'll tell Dad you say hi!
Hi John and Jamie, Levi here. 😎👍 Love this expose. Love that EAP Society used the exact date "That's All Right" was first aired. I haven't felt this connected to the Sun Years since I visited Sun Studio. 🌞🐓🌞
Friggin AWESOME RESEARCH!!!⭐⭐⭐ I Appreciate what you guys are doing.
⭐🤘 KEEP ROCKIN' 🤘⭐
Hey, Levi!! Thanks, man! So glad you enjoyed it! And yep, we've decided that the closest Friday to July 5th is now our official "New Season" date. Much more fitting, imo. 😁
@@EAPSociety Yes, one day late. My bad, I had a gig for the 4th and now I'm on vacation, I make a point not to look at the calendar or clocks in the house..lol
@@Rock4UNow LOL - I hear that! Yeah, this originally was supposed to come out on Friday, but my computer (which is great, but I did build it 10 years ago) was fighting me the whole way. I *almost* got it out at 11pm on the 5th. Allllmost, lol!
@@EAPSociety 10 years in Computer years is equivalent to Dog years, so yeah you're long overdue with your Linux Lennox tower...lol
@Rock4UNow 🤣 Yeah, pretty much! Windows 10, but still, you're not wrong!
Those Elvis Girls are our fave! 😍🙌⚡️
Absolutely - they're great!
This is such a great video! Both entertaining and informative! I love how you guys made this look like a news report that you might see on TV.
Fantastic work! :)
Thank you so much! Yeah, we decided to play up the "Unsolved Mysteries" vibes, especially at the beginning, lol!
Very interesting and loved the history lesson!
Thank you - so glad you enjoyed it!
This is so interesting. Thanks guys for all your hard work. Absolutely love this informative video. Keep doing what you do. Best wishes from us all in The UK.
Hi, Colin! Thank you! Yeah, we loved finding the info on this, too, and had to share it! While the rest of the season is our usual format, we'll come back to this format from time to time. :)
@@EAPSociety So glad you did. It needed explaining and you did that perfectly. I learnt a lot. Hope to see you guys soon.
@@COLINPAUL I love that! Happy to help! And we should be coming to Memphis this August, so if we do, we'll see you there!
Excellent detective work lads. Thank you.
You're very welcome - thank you!
brilliant, thanks from Copenhagen, Denmark
Thank you, Jess! And you're very welcome! 😁
Good catch re: the call letters - W.H.B.Q. - with periods being one of the give-aways. I grew up in the Midwest in the 1960's. None of the local TV or radio stations had periods in the call letters.
Very cool video! Great effort guys. Bravo!
Thank you so much, Marco! Lots of work, but absolutely worth it!
Well done and very interesting
Thank you! Videos like this will are fun for something different, every once in a very great while. 😁
Graceland needs to remove their exhibit and release a public apology.
really interesting and a lot of work put into it. I enjoyed and I thank you for that.
Thank you so much - and you're very welcome!
Incredible detective work and dedication. Graceland purchased a fake. I wonder if they will ever admit the mistake.
Thank you so much! This was a perfect topic for this date, especially given what we found! From our standpoint, I'd like them to get their funds back, honestly. If this can possibly help, even better. They may or may not say, but we're just here to help (and have a little fun, since this is CZcams, after all - hence the "Unsolved Mysteries" level dramatic cheese music in the beginning) 😁
Hey J & J, on Page 190 of the RCA Album Collection book, it shows an advert for an upcoming 'Elvis 1974 Easter TV Special' - and then notes that this never materialised. Do you have any intel on this??
From what I’ve heard, it was something Colonel was trying to shop around to the networks, but coming so close after the Aloha, no one wanted to pay what he was asking.
@@johnheath1868 Sounds plausible
Wow almost making history there guys. Fascinating insight into the authentic and the fakes out there. Top research shame no one at EPE did research before buying and embarrassing themselves. Im sure they bought in good faith but faith isn't good enough when it comes to Elvis artefacts and history. Blind faith can lead to being scammed.
Thank you, Paul! Yeah, what happened is definitely a shame, but hopefully this video can help in some way for the future! I will say, this took us months to find all of this, and it's hard to say when they came across the acetate, so they might not have had much time before deciding - and the last owner of the ones we have made the same error. We honestly might not have found some of this information if they hadn't brought the acetate forward in the way they did, so it also inadvertently helped us clear that up for the larger Elvis World, which (in the end) is a good thing. 😁
I have nothing against EPE and I am glad that they exist, but if they presented this out of "good faith" as you presume, then why out of "good faith" don't they admit they made a mistake, and address the public that they had fooled? By not addressing this issue is a bit disrespectful to the Elvis Presley "collecting" community. In a way it's like them saying f'm they don't know any better..
That way a very good presentation on this issue by a channel that I believe is going to grow tremendously in the Elvis world.
Thank you so much! As I'm sure you've caught in the other videos, we definitely have massive plans for things as we move forward (CD and book releases, hopefully more), and I'm excited to grow things to get there. :)
The question is totally fair, and I'll tell you why I think it was presented in good faith. If it wasn't, they never would have taken the time to transfer the acetate they had or use that audio. The easier, and more technically accurate, thing to do would be to use the sound from "A Boy From Tupelo" or something we already have, and play that. That they didn't, when the audio is so clearly wrong, was a huge clue to me.
As for why they don't come forward? Well, that's also a good question, but it's now a big company with several offices in different places. ABG is HUUUUGE. So whoever said to buy the acetate may not be the person who makes the call for cleaning/clearing up the issue. Add the expensive nature of the mistake with people's jobs possibly on the line, and it makes the situation a lot more complicated, even if it's not good for the collecting community. We all as fans are in a better place (ironically) to talk about it - if we can help, that's one of the reasons we're here! :)
Have you watched the documentary where Frank Skinner (UK Comedian) tries to confirm that his 'Elvis shirt' is real ?? ~ czcams.com/video/Iyb_1y6CHCg/video.html
That was SO COOL! And wow, do I ever moss Gordon. Hearing him talk just takes me right back to talking with him. Thank you for that!
I saw this few yrs back but could never find it again.. so thanks for the link!
It’s not the labels. It’s the Keys on the Typewriter. Sam was cheap. 1 Typewriter is known. Probably a Royal. Those keys are like fingerprints
It's both, really, but you're 100% right on the typewriter keys being like a fingerprint - and we could have gone into that, but the rest are a lot easier for the average person to catch when they see them - in fact, the more you see both real and Lee labels, the more you can see the label differences, even without any stamps or typing or anything.
Ouch! Pretty pricey mistake by whomever bought that acetate for Graceland!
