Why Oh Why Oh Why ... was 'Just Can't Help Believin'' omitted from the Special Edition of the film? - Just maddening.

Great set and the way it presents is outstanding. I remember buying this immediately on release day. ⚡️

I was just streaming this set last night and listening to choice tracks from the rehearsal segment and just cranked it and got lost in the process. His wild rendition of the Ray Charles classic, “Wha’d I Say” is just phenomenal. 😊

One of the very best "box sets" ever produced and that's of any artist. The LSP-4445 That's The Way It Is LP is in my opinion the best album Elvis Presley released in the 70's, and without a doubt wouldn't have an inspiration for such a well defined box set that you have here if it wasn't. Thanks for the great video covering this treasure guys!

Great video. Thank you guys. If I remeber correctly the "I feel like an old stripper" comment happens midway during Polk Salad Annie from the Opening Show instead of the pause/reprise. Love the intensity of this version. One of my favourite performances of the song. The slower Polk Salad Annie version is from the 11th dinner show.

A beautiful set, I loved it. I have found that the edges of the box are delicate, easy to damage.

The object in the pic on stage with Elvis is a speaker. It’s part of a cross field monitor system that was used in early 70s before the conventional monitor system was invented….. by non other than Elvis sound guy.! NOw ya know. Great video.

I love this set. It’s one of my favorites! I agree with John that the midnight shows are the best. Let’s hope when/if Baz does his restoration of the film we get a new set with a 4k of that sweet sweet 35mm

Top reviews guys, I own this myself and it's fabulous. There were rumours at the time that they had mixed out Charlie? Is this true? Cheers JnJ ❤❤

I like the way the discs are laid out - My re-imagined 'Essential 60's Masters' runs to 8 Discs, so that's how I'd have them presented, too!

Funny, I was just listening to some of this last week. Was trying to really dial into Tutt's drum parts on Sweet Caroline (I'm trying to play it for a show) from the 8/12 midnight show. The mixes here are great for the most part- everything is very warm and balanced. Rosenthal's mixes are the only ones that boost John Wilkinson's rhythm playing. Take a listen, it's here loud in the left channel. The drums on the Ferrante mix of 8/12 MS are nearly inaudible. Not good.
But what's the problem? No Charlie! He's mixed out. It baffles me - he sings important harmony on I Just Can't Help Believin', and it goes against Elvis' production choices. Has this choice ever been fully explained?
All the shows here are great of course, my favorite has always been the opening show, since it features so much of the new material. Replacing Suspicious Minds with Patch It Up as the big moment is a bold move.

I bet you both wish you would have brought 10 of the box set considering what they are going for now!!! I did get the other box set which are the rehearsal’s and wondered if one needs both?

This is the greatest elvis box set..I love the mix on i just can't help believin in one of the concerts and you can hear the strings better during the break......Elvis is on top form during this engagment..It's a pity that the rehearsals sound wise are not up to the best standards ..But the shows are outstanding sound wise on this box😀 I wish they could have released the original movie in stereo ,Rather than leave it in mono

You will never hear me disagree on a vote for any 1970 box being the greatest! (Unless that box is From Elvis In Nashville, and that isn’t a vote against the material)

    Hi Jamie, hi John,
Nice to see this deluxe set being reviewed. There are many different opinions on this. No matter the sound compared to the first releases or mixing away Charlie Hodge's harmony vocals.
I will be very interested to hear your opinion on this. Greetings from Germany

A Blu-Ray will handle a 3 hour movie with zero compression to audio and video. They could put 2 75min shows on one disc and it would be fine. If we are just doing audio only all shows would fit on one blu-ray in HD Audio 5.1 just fine with no compromise

Wish I would have gotten this. It’s way too expensive now. Hope they release it.
Would like to have a copy of the Aug 11 & 12 dinner shows on CD.

Is it normal when you do not like an reaction as a reply to your video, you remove it ? which you did in my case, i just gave my opinion, but oh brother do not go against the views of the makers of this video, the experts. You cannot compare two boxes from two different periods audio wise . The On Tour Box sounds incredible too, or could you have done a better job ? i sincerely doubt it, very childish to say the least, you just lost a member.

Would've absolutely DIED to get this Jamie, and still do!! But just couldn't afford/justify the $1,000+ price tag that it was costing in Australia. 😫🫤 But, what a STELLAR Box Set!!
Can I have your email address, buddy?

$1,000? My buddy on Long Island had a box for sale just last month for $100 usd. With shipping, I couldn’t imagine it would have been over $100 to Australia 🇦🇺. 😊

    • @graemeferdinands5856
      @graemeferdinands5856 Před měsícem

@FrankieLovesElvis I'll keep keeping an eye out, Frankie! 😊 (all the "big" releases by FTD seems to cost more, and stay on pre-order for longer, Down Under!). Eg. the recent Blue Hawaii and 1972 Live Book/Box Sets, were released at $700 Aussie dollars here. That's just way too much money for a single "Music" product. 🫤🤷
