  • Elvis Presley Vintage Annual Book / Magazine Unboxing and Discussion - "Elvis Special 1970" by the UK's "Elvis Monthly," released in late 1969!
It's always fascinating and enlightening to look back at what Elvis fans were thinking as things were happening, and the late 60's are especially true for that! Produced by the Albert Hand's "Elvis Monthly" in June of 1967, this gives a very clear idea of what fans were feeling. The boys have wild time figuring out exactly why a 1970 Special has nothing about the 1968 Comeback Special, Vegas news, or anything - so have a look as they hilariously get their "across the pond" wires crossed, then finally figure out why it happened!

Just to add I remember reading that Change of Habbit wasn't actually offically released in the UK until 1971 and it was on TV! It didn't get a theatrical release over there.

Just occurred to me - I've never seen you do a discussion on the documentary, 'The Searcher' - There would be no shortage of talking points, there!

10:24 John, "From Elvis In Memphis" was released in the U.S.A. on June 17, 1969, so it was likely released in the U.K. much later than that.

It looks like the most recent single listed for release 5:14 was "If I Can Dream/Memories" (Elvis Singles available in Great Britain as of June 1, 1969). Perhaps this book was printed in mid-1969, not even late-1969.

We didn't get all that the US got we had a different timeline and narrative I remember thinking Charro was the last scripted movie Elvis made because it screen here in 1971 Change of Habit was seen as a TV movie the story in the 1970 Special is more or less a sequel to the films because that's what we knew we didn't know anything about Elvis the real person until What Happened the fan club did update us on news before things happened but the publications were written by fans like myself and you could only write about what you knew or loved or wanted to see happen. The live concert appearances took Elvis away from us only a few hundred fans could afford to go to the venues. Elvis fans in England were mostly working class or blue collar as you call them. My money was spent on Camden budget Elvis albums at 99p that was 2 weeks pocket money and Elvis films TV were an event. We didn't even get Aloha. Just remember fans only saw things once they didn't have videos or CZcams or books about Elvis and soundtracks were the way you replayed the movie in your head.. with all information about him anyone can google search but a real fan learns through others about Elvis and keeps learning new things no one knows much about him or what he did as a person when he was alive. The 68 Special was not the revelation it was just something Elvis in his career same with the 69 sessions and return to live appearances. It was just part of what Elvis did and we didn't get Ed Sullivan or Elvis 50s tv appearances all our focus was on the film's and the fan magazines reflected that they got really samey when the 70s after On Tour there was nothing that we hadn't seen or heard before and pics of Elvis in concert did nothing for me. All you see is him age I used to rub out the big hair and sideburns just to see if was the same man who made the movies. 😂😂😂
Still learning after all these years. That's the fun for me
