In this episode, we're exploring a box of Elvis' acetates with Angie Marchese, Graceland's Vice President of Archives & Exhibits.
Acetate discs are a type of phonograph record that were widely used from the 1930's to 1950's for recording and broadcast purposes. Unlike ordinary vinyl records, acetates were made for special purposes like comparing different takes or mixes of a recording. If pressed vinyl copies of an impending new release were not yet available, acetates were used for getting preview copies into the hands of important radio disc jockeys.

Elvis sang Little Darlin on stage in 1977! I am listening to it right now. He recorded it April 24 1977 on the album Moody Blue! That is where that song comes from! The song was released in 1957 by the Diamonds! Elvis must have liked the song . I like the way he sang it for sure. Thank you Angie for the great job you do. I can tell you like your job. I have been to Graceland six times. It is the greatest place. I always feel Elvis when I am there. It is so special. I fell in love with Elvis in 1957. I feel the same today! Again Thank You !

Angie you need to play the record with LITTLE DARLING to find out what that is. Elvis is not not known to have recorded that song. It could be a red herring but might be something that didn't make the soundtrack albums. Please check that out!

My all time fav is How Great Thou Art for a gospel, and Suspisous Minds. My fav of movie is Follow That Dream. After I had seen it ONCE I went home and told my Dad, "I'm not sure WHERE this place is but we HAVE to find it. I wanna go there, Daddy." Never did find it but can you imagine if I had. Oh boy what fun. I just think that Angie is like a great relative we all have that works at Graceland and she is doing all these little video for US. Thank you, cousin Angie.

Totally off topic, but do you know what happened to the, I think it was 45’or 47’ Elvis which was publicly unveiled as part of the publicity created by Colonel Parker for the opening of Love Me Tender. Angie, you are fabulous and I hope you continue with these CZcamss even after Quarantine!! When you open a box it’s like Christmas!!! It’s Elvis continuing his gift giving through you, ❤️❤️

You should know that little darling song if you’re handling Elvis material. His fans know it was off the moody blue album. 1977 it was a live version in front of an audience one of his appearances from 1977

Hi Angie. My father Robert Presley was born in 1903 in Mississippi. He looks identical to Vernon Presley. We were told Elvis and I have the same Great grandfather. We stayed with Minnie Presley for a week when our mother was recovering from surgery. We believe our father was Robbie Presley, Jessie D. Presley's youngest brother. Could you please contact me? In the Attic at Graceland, as well as in the barn or House of rising sun. Vernon kept everything.

Little Darling by Elvis was recorded in 1977 on his Moody Blue Album. It is a copy of the Diamonds and The Gladiolas hit back 1n 1957. Elvis did it 20 years later in July 1977, 4 weeks before his death.
Thank you for your reply but the one she showed was from the 1960s movie and it might not be the Same song it could just be a mistake misprint it could be little Egypt 🤔

I think a demo pressed to vinyl is usually referred to as an acetate.
