I honestly forget to put it on sometimes and even when I am working out or working hard, I have noticed since I stopped eating meat and highly processed foods that I really do not have a bad bacteria causing my arm pits to stink anymore. In deodorants however, it was proven to be unproblematic because the amount of aluminum used is so small, it can't cause anything harmful to your body. However there's also very high chance that some other ingredients that irritates you; such as fragrances like limonene, linalool, etc. Those might be the ones causing the problems and not the aluminium salts itself. Also dermatologist recommends that I put it right before sleeping when you physical activity is low and less likely sweat. Which reduces irritation. Then after you awake up you can use a damp cloth or gentle baby wipes to clean up your underarms from the anti ingredient residue. So the irritating antiperspirant ingredients don't get to stay all day to irritate your skin. The aluminium salts already did their job overnight anyways.

I was lucky the irritation lasted for only a day (smell just got mixed with lemon but still there) but for some it's even worse. For some people it also turns their skin hypersensitive and/or cause hyperpigmentation. Sure it works on others but is the damage worth risking? Definitely not worth recommending unless you check your skin first with an expert like a dermatologist and see if your skin could handle it.
Benzoyl peroxide makes my skin very itchy the next day after using it on my face for acne. For people that have this reaction, can the same happen on your armpits? I assume it can. I bought a product once called Zero Sweat and even the one with aloe made me incredibly itchy, I couldnt put up with it. It contains 12% Aluminum Chloride. As opposed to the clinical strength OTC antiperspirant I use now, which contains 20% Aluminum Zirconium Octachlorohydrex GLY. This does not make me itch.
Maybe try using a benzoyl peroxide product with less percentages (2.5-4% instead of 10% benzoyl peroxide for exemple). It’s less irritating but does essentially the same job.
