Driving the abandoned Bloukraans Pass and visiting Spitzkop Viewpoint | Garden Route

- After filming at the Simola Hillclimb event, I decided to extend my stay and explore what the Garden Route has to offer.
My first stop was a drive down into Nature's Valley. It was beautiful driving down into the thick forest all around me. Eventually, the Nature's Valley road leads you to the now-abandoned Bloukraans Pass. This pass is technically closed, but still drivable. It is very overgrown, turning the road into one-way. Nature reclaiming the landscape makes for a very picturesque scene.
I spent the night at Firefly Falls, which is situated outside of Plett. A beautiful spot with various accommodation types. I was meant to camp, but due to the bad weather predicted, I upgraded to a cabin.
The following morning I made my way to the Spitzkop Viewpoint. This is one of Knysna's highest peaks. The 360 views from onto are breathtaking. On the one side, you overlook the rolling hills, blanketed in a lush green forest. On the opposite side, you see the coastline on the horizon.
The landscape which can be found in the Garden Route is so unique in South Africa and it will always stay pretty. This is an area I really need to explore more. There are so many hidden gems and beautiful landscapes which I still need to explore in the Garden Route.

You should check out the Prince Alfred pass going from Uniondale to Knysna next time. Beautiful road through the woods and mountains. You can get some breakfast at Angie's G spot and there are lots of other landmarks along the way
I'll add that to my list when I come visit again. I've been to Angie's G-Spot before, but also years ago. I need to revisit there too.
Did you drive the entire Bloukrans pass? T4A shows it as closed. I'm heading there in a month's time and would love to drive it.
Yes I drove the entire pass all the way out tot the otherside. Did a few years back as well heading to PE. The sign still says road closed, but it's driveable. Might just have to check for updates if this Cape Town weather reeks havoc in that region too.
