    I am using a carbon fiber jazz III and they awesome, the grip is very usefull. And they last forever, even when you loose them.

      I bought a variety pack with one of those in them, but to me it felt like playing with sandpaper vs the ultex just gliding off more. I didn’t like how much resistance the carbon fiber had. What do you think?

    I have the same issue with the JP flow. The noise comes out when I try to learn something fast. Might just be the Ultex material.

    same here. actually i favor the JP jazz 3. my fav for years. but since i got the Petrucci Flow yesterday, it replace the jazz III one. super flow and fluid for fast playing . but.. the CHIRP really bugging me off.. i dont wanna change the way hold the pick. really is dillemma.

      Was playing with the ultex jazz iii last night and comparing against dunlop flex jazz... Noticed that chirp right away. It plays nice but if you're articulating... Yeah that CHIRP 🤣🤣🤣 also tried a .88 primetone... There's something different about how it plays and the feeling in my fingers is "off."

      @@clanofhousecats8079 in some contexts the chirp works well, like with Periphery-style riffs. It adds a bit of texture to rhythm playing. I think they all use really chirpy picks (Dunlop Sharp). I think Ollie from Monuments does as well.

      @@clanofhousecats8079 The flow picks don't chirp at all and neither do the other picks. It just depends on the angle you're holding them at. The flow picks should be held so the pick is parallel to the string. If you like to edge pick (pick angled so that the edge of the pick slices through the string) you might need a pick that isn't rounded along the edges. The Jazz III, especially the petrucci one, are all meant to be played more parallel to the strings. Even his Jazz III, despite being pointy, has rounded edges. Try holding it parallel and graze the string with the tip of the pick. With the flow it'll feel like the strings are really soft. With the sharper pick it'll have more resistance but it'll give you more of a reference point so you know that you actually hit the string. I'm really weird about picks. I like the Jazz III 2.0 but I'd like it to be a hybrid between the prime tone flow and the Jazz III 2.0 with the grip of Matt Heafy's nylon jazz III. It's really annoying that I'm so sensitive to pick shapes. Depending on how I feel or how fucking high I am I switch picks every day. Lol

    The only way to get away from the ultex chirp noise is to get thinner picks. Below 1 mm it becomes manageable. But once I noticed it, I’ve tried to ditch ultex for Tortex flow 0.88

      I have the normal 1.38 yellow ultex jazz iii and it is my favorite pick so far. I don’t ever have chirp, I think that would go away the more you play and develop the bezel (angled edge).

      @lo3572 Před 2 lety +1

      @@minifireball1170 i also noticed that yellow ultex chirp a lot less. They still chirp though. Perhaps it’s the rougher texture that prevents it. I angle quite a lot. I just don’t like thick picks for fast palm muted tremolo picking.
