The next performer to go on after Queen was David Bowie, who is a true legend in his own right and one of the few people who could stand toe-to-toe with Freddie Mercury on stage. Elton John followed Queen (unless the TV broadcast was broadcasting out of order). Elton John later said that there wasn't anything he could do but go out and do his best. When Elton had his Vega show a few years back he would talk to the audience at some point in the show about his friendship with Freddie. He would often jokingly say something about how he should hate Freddie after having to follow him at Live Aid. He would say something about how competitive Freddie was but Elton never imagined that competitiveness would even rear its ugly head against him. He thought that Freddie and him were sisters but a sister would never make her sister follow what Queen did on that day.Or something to that effect. It was said very jokingly. Bowie was after Elton John and then there were 3 other bands/groups before Paul McCartney was supposed to come on but it was problems with his equipment that had both Brian and Freddie taking the stage one more time and singing "Is this the world he created" so there wouldn't be dead air while the McCartney equipment issues were fixed.

@@lauraaa2222 I’ve watched it a few more times now, probably about 5 or 6 to date. I will probably watch it a few more times still to get it out of my system 😂 It’s basically become almost as addictive as Freddie’s voice and the outstanding instrumentals of their music is to me. Queen has been my favourite band for as long as I can remember, and lately I can’t get enough of their music and interviews.

@@HanahLoo and that's beautiful. Queen's music is timeless. But people will say it's ageless....and I'm like 🤦🏻‍♀️ obviously it's NOT ageless. Everything has an age to it. Everything I can think of, every single thing in our existence and around us. But timeless, timeless is right, I like to see that word in a comment about a song because I know they really mean what they're saying because they understand the word lol. Sounds silly but there is a difference. Queen will never be suitable for just the 80s. It fits nicely into many people's lives and usually for a great reason or memory. There is a song for many emotions I notice, I have many just from feeling happy... usually belting it out...prob at karaoke, even just at home. I hear the start of "don't stop me now" and I can guarantee that many will sing, hands up in the air, just happy. And there's "best friend". A song that I will always have beautiful memories of my late partner. He died in 2018 at 34. He would have been 40 in January just gone. So I love they hold so many memories of different things and times in my life. You know what you are doing with BoRap? I did this with Titanic when I was 10 in 1997 🤣 I loved that film. Main char8were obviously fictional but Titanic was obviously real and I felt it so much deeper even at 10 because I knew it had happened. @@lauraaa2222 I’m so sorry for your loss ❤️, 34 is so young. I really hope you’re doing alright and taking very good care of yourself. I lost my best friend, my soul sister, in 2019, she would be turning 44 on February 29th this year. I used to blast Queen every day as soon as I learned how to put a tape in the player and press play, for as long as I could remember. According to my mom I was always meant to be a fan of Freddie and Queen. When their Live aid show was aired I was in front of the tv at 2 years old, dancing and singing along to their songs (badly). You’re right, ageless isn’t quite right: I call them eternal, immortal, timeless. I learned English because I loved their songs and wanted/needed to know what every word meant. Queen opened up a whole universe for me, I didn’t have friends so my only company was their music and I never felt alone or lonely when Queen was on. I still don’t to this day. “Don’t stop me now” was the first song I learned and sang it badly and off key, but in perfect English, for my parents. They recorded it, it’s awful 🤣. I played the Live aid performance for one of my best friends, both him and I were in tears. He’s since downloaded their full catalogue. Freddie Mercury has an ever growing fanbase, he’s the only real life time traveller. I’m certain that if the world goes dark for millennia and someone stumbles across Freddie’s performances they will have the same reaction that his biggest fans have had throughout the years he was actively performing. He’s very generous, pouring his soul and creativity into a song and letting us have it, and bring it into our lives and our memories so that it’s the soundtrack of our lives. He doesn’t claim it to be anything so that we can all find our meaning when we listen to it. What better gift to give an audience that witnesses magic but to make them feel like they are magical too?

The two songs are "Radio Ga Ga" and "Hammer to Fall." ETA: "Crazy Little Thing Called Love." Also, "We Will Rock You" and "We Are the Champions" were what was called a Double-A side, which meant BOTH songs were the single. Back then, singles were produced as vinyl 45's to sell, with the single on the "A" side and another album cut on the B-side. When it was played on the radio, it was always both ... with "We Will Rock You" played first. That's also why it was performed that way at Live Aid.

The only musical artist that I have ever idolised is Freddie, and I still do. I play his music all the time. He is very missed by all who loved him. The artist that were to perform after Queen were overheard to say, “how do we follow that”. They recognised how great Freddie truly was

Fun fact: The lead guitarist is Brian May, DOCTOR OF ASTROPHYSICS! I kid you not! He and the drummer, Roger Taylor are STILL performing live around the world with the phenomenal American vocalist ,Adam Lambert! They've been touring together to sold out crowds for the last 10-11 years. Lambert does great justice to the Queen catalog without attempting to imitate Freddie. Roger and Brian call him a "gift from God" because they're still able to do what they love, which is live shows! Adam is 40 right now and reveres Freddie and Queen. You can find full performances for them on CZcams also. I highly recommend! Thanks so much! ❤ 👑

Great reaction. This is why QUEEN is considered the GREATEST LIVE BAND EVER. You liked the crowd control go watch QUEEN preform the song LOVE OF MY LIFE down in RIO in 1985. There were rumors that the crowds were up to 350,000. FREDDIE always does a duet with the crowd at their concerts and they sing LOVE OF MY LIFE. I like the one that QUEEN does live at Wembley on July 12th, 1986. It's just beautiful. QUEEN was notorious for being better live than in studio but there are a few songs that you have to listen to from their studio versions. So go check out LOVE OF MY LIFE and I also have another one for you to check out it's called WHO WANTS TO LIVE FOREVER live from Wembley July 12th, 1986 concert. Just go watch one of their concerts when they are preforming about 28 to 30 songs and watch the energy on stage it never stops. Thank you for doing QUEEN videos. Take care and have a great day. As Freddie started up with Bohemian Rhapsody, you can hear that 125,000 audience singing with him - what you cannot hear are the millions across Britain watching live on TV, on a really hot day - windows and doors open - also singing along with Queen - a multi-million voice choir, all ages, knowing the words! We watched live with our 4 kids and a half dozen of their friends - youngest age 7 - all singing all their songs! Our son was 7 - now in his 40s, still a fan! We have a total of 26 grand and step-grandchildren and they have all grown up with Queen! Incidentally, that red guitar was built in a garden shed by Brian May's Dad and he still plays it - oh, and he is a Doctor of Astro-physics! And Freddie had wanted to be an opera singer! And Crazy Little Thing Called Love was written by Freddie in the bath and was a tribute to a young and fantastic Elvis Presley! And do remember that massive audience was NOT a Queen audience - they were there for Live Aid and the other amazing artists, but they all became Queen that day! Queen were the only ones to fully rehearse their set which was to run 20 minutes - they overran by 16 seconds. 😎
