  • What are the pros and cons of living in Palmdale California? In this video I will share with you the pros and cons of living in Palmdale California. Palmdale CA is a city located in the northern end of Los Angeles County in a region known as the Antelope Valley. The Antelope Valley includes Quartz Hill, Lancaster, Rosamond, Lake Los Angeles, aka Lake LA and Littlerock. The Antelope Valley and Palmdale offers a variety of different homes from smaller bungalows, mid-century ranch and large homes in new subdivisions.
There are lots of great Realtors and Real Estate Agents in Palmdale and all across the Antelope Valley to assist you if you are considering moving to Palmdale CA. If you're not already working with a top Realtor in Palmdale, I would be happy to help. I have been a Realtor since 2003 and have sold hundreds of homes throughout my career from Los Angeles to Palm Springs and everywhere in between. Whether you are looking for a move in ready home or an REO foreclosure property to buy and flip, the Antelope Valley and Palmdale has it all. I hope you enjoyed this video on the pros and cons of living in Palmdale California. You may also want to check out my video Palmdale vs Lancaster on the differences between Palmdale and Lancaster. I worked swing shift at that time It was no problem driving and I loved the mountains. It was quite where I lived. The air was much better than L.A. I moved in 2016. Nothing bad to say about Palmdale.

I'm considering moving somewhere in the area (looking @ Apple Valley, Lancaster, Palmdale, Victorville @ surrounding areas) in the next year. I want to be within 60-90 minutes of Burbank (family there). I'm a hospice nurse. Any suggestions for what areas are best for safety & affordability for someone in this field?

Lived in Palmdale from 1996 to 2006 (in Rancho Vista). A lifetime of beautiful sunrises and sunsets. I was lucky to work at Plant 42 so my commute was about 10 minutes. However, our neighbors had the long commute to 'down below'. We saw the children growing up without parental supervision for a large part of the day after the schools let out. By the time we were moving out, the sounds of the sheriff's helicopters urging the kids to go home became routine. Then the gangs came in and there was a shooting one street over from ours. I wish that after all this time the chamber of commerce or the business development folks would have surveyed the residents to learn what occupations they are traveling so far to get to so those businesses could be lured to the Antelope Valley. I wish all the best to Palmdale and Lancaster.

I can attest to the drive time. I had to be at work in Glendale at 5am. If I left my home in Palmdale before 3:55am, I would get to work with 10 minutes to spare. If I left at 4:00am+, it would add 20 minutes to my commute. Its a science to get the right timing for your commute. A lot of people I knew worked in Santa Clarita, thats the best if you work out of your home city.
You forgot to mention the best jobs available in Palmdale, aerospace. As for the high crime, I didnt notice anything at all living there, then again, I lived in the nice part of town, West Palmdale. You definitely dont want to live on the East side.

You mean "sleeping there" given that your entire waking life was spent somewhere else.

I’d like to add for those who commute out of Palmdale beyond Santa Clarita, GASOLINE costs back and forth five days per week, and wear & tear on your car (tires, oil change) and wear & tear on your body (sleep, nutrition, exercise and overall wellbeing can suffer) depending upon your age & health.
Finally, Various sections on the east side of Palmdale are great, while “some” east Palmdale and Lancaster sections are not that great.
Living close to Pearblossom direct access to 14 freeway or close access to the 14 freeway also can also save “some” time.

Whatever you decide about living in this area, if you decide to hire a real estate agent, steer clear of Christine Healy and Realty Executives. Or any other firm she might work for.

To understand the antelope valley you have to understand the city counsels have been controlled by realtors for generations. all city growth and planning is solely determined by which property the current realtors own or want to invest in. they are driven by the constant quest to increase population so they can build and sell more homes and they don't have any concerns about infrastructure. The region has and will continue to be hit the hardest by every real estate bubble. It will rise the highest and sink the lowest right after, leaving a larger impoverished, crime ridden, drug addicted population than it had before the boom. It's like wave after wave of human detritus washing up on the antelope valley's shores. And this will happen every few years. Hopeful young families are lured out by low prices and then a couple years later they are foreclosed on and their kids are in gangs. but then what do I know? I'm only 4th gen AV.
