I live in Palmdale on the east side and used to travel extensively whereby my house was once vacant for a year. I mistakenly left my house doors wide open (screen door wide open, main door open) as I loaded my car w luggage for a 30 day business trip. When I returned, I just knew my house had been broken into because the front doors were open!!! To my surprise, NOTHING was missing! As this gentleman stated, it really just depends upon where you live in east Palmdale which as stated, is slightly easier to navigate if you work in LA, Santa Clarita, Northridge, Burbank, San Fernando, etc.
What a great comment and so true. I'm a huge fan of East Palmdale. Love getting breakfast at Vallarta. Love shopping along 47th St East and eating at Tom's Restaurant. 🌴😃🌴

I'm sad to say but lancaster suddenly has a lot of crime, I follow the AV NEWS CREW and they keep us informed. I've lived in the AV for 22 years and imo Palmdale is better than lancaster and now I live on the high desert and it's really nice up here.
Yes it is quite unfortunate that crime is increasing in Lancaster. Good for you to find solace in the high desert! I wish the people who run the city would do more to combat crime but it doesn't seem to be a priority for them to address the situation. 😟😟😟
The cleanliness is very important to address.. Especially for the people touring...Convenient and comfortable is very important...Very nice for you to address the problem, ...in that case they will think about a solution to attract people who would like to live in a small place like the Antelope Valley.

I grew up in the Antelope Valley 40 years ago. Im not suprised the battle between lancaster and palmdale still exists. Palmdale incorporated first back in the early 80's lancaster followed suit a few years later. During that time Palmdale was where the crime was, lancaster was safer. Now its debatable. One thing still stands. Eastside versus west side. Anything east of division street and the railroad tracks was considered ghetto. Seems it still is today.

I chose East Lancaster to invest in because it is safer then Palmdale when you consider that the San Andreas Fault runs straight through Palmdale.

In my experience, Lancaster is more homogeneous than Palmdale. Palmdales nice areas are nicer than Lancaster's, but palmdales bad areas are worse than Lancasters.

The Antelope Valley was a beautiful place to live and work until the late 70's early 80's. But unfortunately has systematically been destroyed by the county commissions and especially the city councils of both cities.
Sadly, Palmdale is now enabling taco carts to inundate Palmdale. Horrible for property values. We even have a homeowner who keeps attempting to turn his home into a Mexican restaurant serving alcohol.
We are now preparing to sell our property off Pear Blossom highway as For Sale by owner. As our experience with four real estate agents and their brokers over the years has been a lesson on who not to trust.
If you are looking to live in a place where the city has allowed taco carts to take over without paying sales tax, while allowing customers to move away from sales tax paying brick and mortar restaurants, then this is the place for you.
Just know that the AV will continue to slide into toilet along with your property values. Property values that I would promptly have reaccessed by the county to have them adjusted.
Palmdale or Lancaster?

So, you recommend the west side of Palmdale. What is the availability of small size houses in a gated community?
There are homes available in gated neighborhoods in West Palmdale, but not many small homes.
How about gardening in Palmdale? What zone? Is it too hot for a veggie garden?
I am currently growing tomatoes but you spend more on watering them then if you just purchased them from the grocery store. Gardens with partial shade work best as the midday sun wilts the leaves but they recover quickly. In the rural areas wild rabbits and gophers reek havoc on your garden.
@ Susan Dallas , we're going through a severe drought right now and we can only water 💧 our yards once a week so I think that you should follow the instructions for growing your tomatoes 😉
@@cyntar556 I do follow the instructions Cynthia. Lancaster is within Waterworks District No. 40 and Does Not currently have restrictions on watering days. The City of Lancaster does have an ordinance in place since 2008 that limits watering to between 10:00 pm and 10:00 am during the summer months which I adhere to. Thank you for your kind concern.

When talking about East/West parts of Lancaster and Palmdale, do you use 14 Freeway as a separation marker?
Division Street is the divider, but West of the 14 is nicer.

Thanks for your interest in Lake LA. I have never felt unsafe in Lake Los Angeles. It's a rural area so it's cleaner than being in the city. If you like privacy and wide open spaces you will enjoy Lake LA.

Palmdale offers a lot of horse property. How many areas you may require would depend on how many horses you would like to keep on the property. Budget of course would be a determining factor as well with regards to location. Let me know if I may assist you. 🏡🏡🏡
Would you recommend a young lesbian couple moving to Palmdale to start a family? We currently live in Graeagle in an area where people definitely lean one way and it is unfortunately not ours. We have a neighbor now who has tried to “save us” multiple times and we have no interest in something like this ever again.
People in Palmdale and the Antelope Valley are very tolerant. I've seen same sex couples walking together holding hands. People tend to mind their own business regardless of their personal feelings. 🌴🏡🌴

Hi, That area is one of my favorite neighborhoods. It's convenient to everything. I shop at that Walmart. The Antelope Valley mall is right there on Rancho Vista Boulevard as well. Let me know if you want any more information. 🌴🏡🌴

Much higher crime on east side of Palmdale than west side. Stay west of the freeway.
While west of the 14 is safer, I have many clients who prefer the east side.
Does the City of Palmdale equally serve East Palmdale and West Palmdale? I’m assuming that both are equally taxed. Why the difference?
Yes both West Palmdale and East Palmdale are equally served. Both the Westside and Eastside have wonderful subdivisions.
Heres my ranking in the av
1. West Palmdale
2. West Lancaster
3. 20th street and up east side Palmdale
4. East Lancaster /littlerock
5. Wear a bullet proof vest on 15th east Palmdale and below
6. Never go to lake la too many pedis over there
They should have police officers patrolling that area as crazy as the sound, and start giving out tickets for polluting😡🤬 that is totally unacceptable. These people should keep their trash in their car until they get home to trash it. I actually keep gum, wrappers or candy, wrappers, or McDonald bag with my wrappers in my purse. God sake until I get to a trashcan to dump my stuff out when I’m out and about, I thought my kids the same thing that is nasty totally unacceptable. Police officers should start giving out tickets for polluting point-blank.

Sounds like city hall in Lancaster is worthless. Literally, worthless. Seems like a different type of person develops in Lancaster from the environment there. Or vice versa? Chicken or the egg?
Yes, it is frustrating how city hall is ruining the city.
Are people incredibly political there? What “side” do they lean towards? As an independent I tolerate and welcome diversity but can’t stand agendas being shoved down my throat. It would be a no for me if either of those is true.
I’ve lived in extreme Republican neighborhoods and some people were nice but some were racist and I feared for my safety, and I’ve lived in some liberal neighborhoods in which safety is a concern. It’s the extremely right wing and extreme left wing cities I don’t like.
