I discovered Phantom when I was 8 years old thanks to my grandmother bless her soul. It's amazing how every time I listen to the music it's always like the first time. I never tire of the amazing music. Thank you Sir Andrew for all the amazing memories with family members long gone now. It means so much to me.
It was my Nana, god bless her soul, who got me into the Phantom as well... strange how that happens. She loved the story and passed that love to me. Now, whenever I see it, I can picture her beside me humming along

My grandma saw this in the movies in 2004 in 2006 she brought it over to my home when I was 6 I love it so much when I first saw it was going to be my favourite movie forever I know right away I’m 23 now and it still my favourite movie of all time
I watched POTO for the first time first time last April... I was speechless and fell under its spell from the first note of this incredible music. Thanks! I have not stop watching and POTO is there inside my mind ever since!

@@zuzularoj6866 ALW is a composer, not a pianist. He knows music. He is not a great pianist. Sarah Brightman has complained about trying to sing with he plays. It's not a big deal. He is not a concert pianist. He can play, but not that great. Believe him.

Thank you Andrew, that was lovely and you ARE a great piano player and I should know. I have many years of classical training under my belt but I couldn't compose a piece to save my life. Also, thank you for giving us all a peek inside Sydmonton. Something I'd always dreamed of, for ages now.
Question though... When you brought the show to Broadway, did the lady in the office/ticket booth, gosh I can't remember her name my apologies; ever tell you and Hal about a poor girl down South trying her hardest to get up there for the show and sing for Hal? I'd just turned 18 & had been learning Christine's part, purely as vocal training while in highschool, when my singing teacher gave me this album knowing I'd love it, and told me to learn Christine's part. Well, after over a year of grueling work to get on top all her high notes, I'd finally done it, losing my voice twice along the way. So, the lady was going to hold 3 nights worth of tickets for me, knowing I had no checking acct to send her the payment. She told me she really wasn't supposed to do that, but after hearing my story, made this kind gesture, bcoz you see I planned to make it up to NYC (somehow), and corner Hal in some way, somewhere, even if only in a corridor; and audition for him on the spot. I'd grown up being a child actress in plays and musicals in school, then learning I had a nice voice, began seriously singing and after all that hard work learning Christine's part, I felt so ready for something more. But, my plans fell through at THE last minute in July, 1988, and I couldn't go! I was CRUSHED needless to say & I had to call that sweet lady back to thank her for making such a kind offer, but to let my tickets go and that was the last of it for me. I had NO support from my family and I didn't know how to take the next steps by myself.
Well, IF she ever told you abt this poor young lady in 1988, it was ME!
I said all that to say this, my connection to this story and the music that really brought it to life for me from you BY you, did something for me on a deep emotional level, bcoz you see due to very bad, seriously traumatic events in my young life and horrible rejection by my own parents afterwards, and who'd adopted me, I felt a deep connection to Erik and your music along with Michael/Erik "training" me, made it SO much more and I can't thank you enough for having at least giving me that much even though I had never been able to see the show or Michael in it, SADLY, or knowing I may never have my chance for an acting career. I felt actual love for the Phantom, I still do which made it all quite real for me, in a way and I always felt like I was the Christine that really loved him back, that wanted him as much as he wanted me.
So again thank you from the depths... for your beautiful, gothic composition. And no, I'm not trying to be melodramatic. The feelings have been very real and gut wrenching as YOU know, passionate music will do that to a person.

Andrew Lloyd Webber is a pure genius. I remember listening to Phantom for the first time on cassette tape in 1986 when it ce out. I will never ever be bored of listening to such wonderful music as Phantom of the opera. My 8yr old son loves it to. Must be in the blood.

@@daynacooper1163 I prefer the stage musical, but everyone can have their own opinions. I know the movie has some great visuals, and great sets, but there were some changes I personally did not care for.

Thank you so much Mr. Webber..Phantom will forever be the best musical in history. I learned the piano when I was a kid because I wanted to learn to play the music from Phantom of the Opera. I will never forget when my sister borrowed the cassette tapes of Phantom of the Opera Musical from the library. I listened to it and never forgot how much I loved it. I couldn’t afford tickets to see the musical in New York City but I would pass by the theatre all the time and just hoped that I go watch it one day. I saved up all my allowance money and went to watch it when I was 16! Now, whenever I visit home, I will go watch it! When its it town I will watch it! Phantom has changed my life and so many others! Thank you for creating such a fantastic and moving musical/music that is timeless and will live on forever!!

Loved everything ALW has done since I saw Jesus Christ Superstar when I was in my early 20's. Since I'm the same age as ALW you can figure out how long ago that was and I was so surprised to see what this young man had done! Phantom is my favorite. Dear Sir, I just saw Jesus Christ Superstar for the first time, I must admit to being reticent up until now as, eventhough I love your work, I wasn’t sure the subject would resonate with me. As I’m sure you’re aware, Sky Arts aired the live performance NBC produced in 2018 yesterday (Boxing Day) *wow!* 🤩 I was blown away & I’m so sorry it took me so long to partake. Brandon Victor Dixon was just incredible! I’ve been singing your songs from the show all day, I now completely understand it’s popularity. I actually watched it with my Dad who says “he hates musicals” & mocks my love of musical theatre, uh... but there he was singing every word of that one 😆 hope you’ve had a good Christmas break Sir & very best wishes for the New Year 🥳
