- [Joe] I didn't really know my grandfather very well, however, for as long as I've known him, he has been quiet strength. I've never seen him blow up or hardly raise his voice. My grandmother on the other hand is very emotional and expressive. In some ways, I see their relationship mirror much of me and Alena. Before my grandfather passed away from cancer, my grandmother closely took care of my grandfather to the point where she wore her body out for him to live. My grandmother now lives with constant back pain.
From this example, love is not really all what it seems. So many people seem to search and seek it out without knowing the sacrifices it may take. Love places you in a position of service, not of recognition and gratitude. Love will almost always be taken for granted, but ironically, love lives on.
1 Corinthians 13:4-7 (NIV)

I have never experienced the love of a family like this, I have always hoped for it in our family but it has never gotten there, have both parents and 3 siblings but we do not know each other at all
Thats sad. Why not try to bring them together for different excuses. And make the effort to call? They will gradually warm up and start doing the same.
