    I'm 43 and currently 36 weeks pregnant with a scheduled c-section coming up at 38 weeks. I watched all your videos while I was TTC, (I started at 41) and got as much fertility testing done as possible. My baby girl has also thankfully passed all tests & screenings throughout this pregnancy so far. I deeply appreciate all the information you've provided that I relied on while on this journey, now just hoping and praying to make it to the finish line with a healthy baby girl in 2 weeks! ❤

    I had my first baby in july, 41 yrs. I’m not saying anyone should wait that long, it’s really to gamble and it’s stressful to try to concieve at that age. But I watched ALL of these videos when I was trying to get pregnant, and found it really encouraging to read successful stories.
    We tried for 7 months, and got pregnant naturally. I have the most beautiful 5,5 month old baby girl sleeping in my arms as I type this. I could do it, and many with me can. Wishing you all good luck. 💗

    I'm 41 and just been trying to conceive for 2 months, and would love it if you could make a video about cervical mucus and how it changes through one's cycle. I'm finding now that I'm paying attention that my cervical mucus is different at different times in my cycle.

    I submitted this question to your email awhile back but it seems to also be applicable to this video. You listed the reasons why someone would take low-dose aspirin, and I don’t think you mentioned individuals who have been diagnosed with antiphospholipid syndrome. I would love if you developed a video on APS, as it affects 1 in 5 women with recurrent pregnancy loss. I’ve tried searching for information on the efficacy of treatment (low-dose aspirin + heparin injections) but the few videos I’ve found are medical conference recordings that are full of so much medical jargon it was impossible to get through. I realize this topic is probably more specialized to high-risk pregnancy doctors, but I love your videos and the way you explain complex topics to your audience. Thank you!

    • @NatalieCrawfordMD
      @NatalieCrawfordMD  Před 4 měsíci +1

      yes absolutely APS should start low dose aspirin when trying to conceive and then add lovenox with positive pregnancy test (or embryo transfer if doing IVF) - should be standard of care.

    Hello Natalie, thanks so much for all that you share!
    I’m hoping you can help myself and others in regard to hormones used during IVF….
    Do you prescribe bio identical hormones (prometrium and estradiol for example ) to your ladies in IVF or do you use synthetic hormones (provera and estrofem for example) It seems Bio identical ones are safer and more effective while avoiding MPA’s .
    I would have assumed almost like a generic medicine - it would be the same and not an issue to ask for bio synthetic ones but my IVF dr is unfamiliar with them and says he doesn’t have stats in their efficacy and interaction with the fertility medication used in my IVF.
    What do you think?
    I am confused by this and a bit worried
    Thank you so much!
    Jodi

    Thanks Natalie - so much good info here again! I however really dont see the benefit of measuring someones AMH - all it does it mess with a patients mental state and I really feel like it doesn't help anyone knowing this info, most importantly the patient. If in western medicine, it cannot be changed, really why put that 'dreaded number' in a woman TTC's head xxxx But I do work with that side of fertility so maybe its just me :/

    I’m 39 and have never tried to get pregnant. My husband had a vasectomy in his first marriage and we are considering a reversal, before him I was always on birth control. Now I’ve been off it 12 years. I really have no idea about my own fertility since before him I was exceptionally careful with my BC. We’ve done tons of research about reversals and have a good idea about the odds for the success of that. I read some specialist like to see the female partner’s tests before agreeing to do a reversal, but I’m not sure what testing I should seek out. Most of the information I find talks about infertility testing, but I don’t meet that criteria since I’ve never TTC. Is there any specific testing I could start with to assess our situation?

    • @NatalieCrawfordMD
      @NatalieCrawfordMD  Před 4 měsíci +1

      please get a fertility evaluation before doing a reversal even though you haven't TTC. so many people don't have the data they need to make this decision! lots of love.

    • @melissafriedrichs4716
      @melissafriedrichs4716 Před 4 měsíci +2

      Another alternative to the reversal is a Testicular sperm extraction, my husband just had that done because a reversal was not successful. Much less invasive and a sure thing almost. But the downside is that it's only enough sperm to use for IVF. So I totally agree, get you tested first.

    It's so interesting that advanced paternal age is not strongly associated with increased chromosomal abnormalities, but I suppose that's because the sperm are newly generated whereas eggs are older. Are there any significant recommendations for TTC with advanced paternal age specifically (either alone or with advanced maternal age)?

    • @flavialm1
      @flavialm1 Před 4 měsíci +4

      Man over 40 have the same association as woman over 35, the sperm is "newly generated" but the "factory" gets old. Just because someone produce sperm doesn't mean is a quality one, the thing is society doesn't view man over 40 as old, as they do woman. Plus drinking, smoking and obesity play a big role. My uncle and his wife lost 5 babies before finally having a boy, he is autistic, his wife was 28 and he was 44. Like when is comes to infertility, is a 50 /50 thing between man and woman, but it always falls under the woman's fault for everyone around.

    • @video123film
      @video123film Před 4 měsíci +1

      @@flavialm1 From what I looked up, advanced paternal age is not associated with increased rates of abnormal chromosome numbers (although on second look, there is some increased risk of trisomy 21, but not 13 and 18 and xyy for example). But I see it is associated with other abnormalities and mutations.

    • @NatalieCrawfordMD
      @NatalieCrawfordMD  Před 4 měsíci +3

      actually APA is associated with an increase in imprinting disorders, new autosomal dominant disease mutations, and increase in behavioral disorders (autism spectrum) - however, typically at an older age like 50+

    Can genetic play an effect? Like my paternal grandmother had multiple children all healthy and my mother entered menopause after 50. I had my baby at 34 got pregnant at my 4 cicle after I stopped the pill, and I'm now turning 36, we are still unsure if we are having a second baby.

      genetics do impact WHEN you may go through menopause (out of eggs) but not egg quality.

This is our first pregnancy, and we are worried about her elevated TSH levels. She was prescribed Thyroxine 25 mcg/day. Is this the right dosage? So if you never had a child before that lowers your chances of getting pregnant for the first time as you age? My girlfriend has no kids and she’s 41 and we’ve had sex many times unprotected and she’s never gotten pregnant, is it her age? Or is it my lifestyle? I’m 34 but I’ve been a smoker for about 16 years and Idk if that has affected my sperm over the years? Even when I was younger, I was in a relationship from 27 to 31 and we never used protection and she never got pregnant either. So I’m wondering is it me? 🤔
