Dr. Shannon Clark is back on The Egg Whisperer Show to talk about the paper she recently co-authored, titled "Pregnancy After 40: Recommendations for Counseling, Evaluation, and Management From Preconception to Delivery." Whether you are a patient or a doctor, I know that this is a topic that will interest so many of you. I can't wait to talk to her about what should be included in preconception counseling after 40, the role of Assisted Reproductive Technologies, what you need to know about each trimester of pregnancy after 40, and what to consider regarding delivery.
Dr. Shannon Clark is a double board certified Obstetrician and Gynecologist and Maternal-Fetal Medicine Specialist focusing on the care of women with maternal and/ or fetal complications of pregnancy. During her first year of residency, she realized her passion for taking care of women with complicated, or high-risk, pregnancies and subsequently pursued a fellowship in Maternal-Fetal Medicine and Masters in Medical Science at the University of Texas Medical Branch in Galveston, TX, where she is an Associate Professor with roles as a clinician, researcher, and educator. She had her twins at age 43, and runs the popular "Babies After 35" account on Instagram, and "TikTocBabyDoc" on TikToc.

I am 43 and 11 weeks, two days. It is a surprise pregnancy. I never thought I would have another child, as I was told it would be difficult after I had my daughter. I have been terrified of miscarriages and other issues. The baby looks good so far, with a healthy heartbeat. I am still in shock.

    Hi from Australia.
    Absolutely love your videos.
I wish docs here were as thorough and dedicated as you are.
My Homocysteine level is Intermediate risk for cardio vascular disease and I’ve got chronic hypertension since 17 and I’m 42 now.
I’ve got 2 kids born moderately and very pre term, and pre eclampsia/ eclampsia in 3 of my pregnancies.
Planning now last pregnancy with aspirin 100mg and methyldopa 1750mg per day plus Clexane injections. Do you think that increased level of homocysteine can be linked to reoccurring severe early onset of pre eclampsia?
    Appreciate your response

I am now 37, will be 38 in June. I have what’s called IC. I lost my healthy daughter in 2021 at the age of 36. I was at 21 weeks 6 days gestation. I went into spontaneous labor due to having IC. Now I’m thinking about trying for another. I’m a little scared because of my condition and because I would like to have 2 so the kids will hopefully always have eachother. If I can have one (and possibly 2) I will be over 40 so that worries me. Thanks for this video!

So sorry for your loss! I have this same condition and went into spontaneous labor at 24 weeks in 2011. I was able to get a cerclage that day and place on strict bedrest. That is my only child because much like you, I've been terrified to do it again. However, I was told as long as you get the cerclage place by 12 weeks, the chances are high for a full term pregnancy. I pray that you're able to have happy and healthy babies 💗

    • @tiffyjacobs7172
      @tiffyjacobs7172 Před rokem +3

@@m.lynette6648 That’s amazing and such a blessing that your Cerclage worked being placed that late in the pregnancy! They were going to do one for me too if my cervix was shorter at my follow up appointment which was a week later. My MFM gave me vaginal progesterone to take for a week. The evening before my follow up appointment is when I went to the ER for cramping and heavy bleeding. Little did I know I was in labor. My water was broken and I was 4 cm dilated. I had my daughter the day of what was supposed to be my follow up appointment. They said next time I would get my Cerclage at 14 weeks and start on McKenna shots at 16 weeks. It’s very scary, but I know a lot of ladies do go on to have healthy and successful pregnancies after their losses. Thank you! 💗

Hi Dr.Aimee! I would kindly ask for your advice. I'm 33, have done 4 iuis, 1 ivf cycle and still got no results. Out of 11 follicles, they retrieved 9oocytes, 7 of which were MII. The weird thing was that icsi was done on half and conventional ivf on the other half. None fertilized with icsi, 2 did naturally to be day 2 B and C embryos. Nothing on ice now. I will have to start another cycle from scratch. What would you recommend for us? My husband is 50 years old with normozoospermia, has a child from a previous marriage. Are we a bad match or could it be the oocytes were premature or I should look into the oocyte quality? My Amh was below 2 back in 2020. Thank you for any feedback / suggestion you could provide🙏

Hello dr Aimee, your channel is so helpful. Please share if you prefer to use cyclogest pessaries or utrogestan with your patients? I’m also on lubion injection once a day, but my clinic has given me a choice of cyclogest or utrogestan to add to the lubion. I’m terrified to make the wrong choice. Do you recommend cyclogest or utrogestan (in combination with lubion) ? Please please respond ❤️

Nobody is asking for judgment on when you should have a kid. They are asking for medical advise on highest recommended age. Not giving any numbers is ridiculous. Ideally
    1. 40-45 20% more risks minor risks including...
    2. 45-50 50% more risks...
    Something like that.

    Hi Dr Aimee,
I had 4 IVF retrievals at 42, made total of 11 blasts..and only one pgta normal frozen and recently transferred which failed. Is there any hope as I turned 43 last month. I’ve took liquid ubiquinol, serovital, total fertility, methanx, baby aspirin, levonox shots, progesterone shots, E2v shots. U name it I’ve done it. I have had a hx of recurrent miscarriages. Tho I did have a baby naturally 9 years ago. But when we started trying again in 2016.. it all resulted in mc by 6-8 weeks.

You have no idea what you’re talking about. We are foster parents and in our state the law prefers to keep abused children w abusive parents at every cost to the child. They usually end up back up for adoption after years of abuse by age of 13 or so. To adopt a baby, the cost is around 30-50k. Do some homework and then come back here to harass me.

No matter if you’re been called infertile or whatever, after reading Dobbie Nerkstrol's guide, I ended up pleasantly surprised. Within 60 days anyone can get pregnant, feeling the changes in your body the first few weeks. After go’ogling her I understood it's not a miracle kind of thing like the title suggests, but you can bet you'll boost your chances.
