With people waiting until later in life to start growing their families, I see a lot of patients who are over 40.
While everyone's body is different, IVF is a great option to consider for many women over the age of 40. I've had many over 40 IVF success stories. I want you to know that pregnancy is definitely possible and that's why I'm going to share my best IVF tips with you this week on The Egg Whisperer Show. Thanks a lot for these tips! I've already had a cycle with donor eggs. It was a success! Now I have my little girl and I'm the happiest mom in the whole Universe) I had 2 rounds of IVF with oe. Both failed, unfortunately. At that time I was 36. Then I had 2 rounds with de(age 37 - 38). The first one failed and honestly, I was so broken and devastated I even thought to quit trying... Well, I'm glad I went for cycle #2! I'm turning 41 this year and I'm planning to have another de cycle in 2021! Fingers crossed!

mind if I ask approximately what it cost you for the donor egg? im 41 and my AMA levels are extremely low and I am so worried that I am going to be told that we can't do it with my eggs. My doctor is optimistic but his nurse isnt and keeps bringing up an egg donor to me and she is very short and kinda rude to me and I can't help but think its that she thinks I am wasting her time and the doctor's time by even wanting to try and use my eggs. I am far from opposed to using a donor egg, the only issue is the VA is covering our IVF because of my husband having a service connected disability which has caused him to have fertility issues but, we are also paying partially out of pocket and its not cheap in the least bit. I wouldnt even know where to start the process of using an egg donor

Me - TTC : 2years +. Feb 2016- Hsg done -dx with block tubes. I did the surgery and my right tube opened. We tried clomid/IUI #1, but got bfp (chemical). Following medicated cycles with monitoring still no baby. Then had a good consultation with fertility dr. Were finally told to move onto ivf. The process started from self educating which lasted quite long due to some facts. I did another lap surgery. Healed well but I strated considering moving abroad for ivf as it seemed far more affordable there.

I just wanted to say thank you Doctor for the positivity. Just found out my my treatment was unsuccessful to create eggs.. I’m 41 so it’s understandable but still hurts. Anyway Thks for the tips on all those negative comments- they did play in my head such as l, I waited too long etc. but I’m glad you gave us some positive thoughts to change that negativity thinking. ❤️ I needed to hear that so Thk you again.

I wish I had you as my doctor. There are doctors that has told me. Oh you are over 40 your posibities are too low for a baby. They had said without even checking my cycles to see how I am actually doing. Now the fertility doctor has checked my 1st cycle my tubs he sees everything it's normal and good. clinic said straight that egg donor only I should take under consideration to have success, well 2 not implemented, and 1 missed mischarge, I have still 3 embryos .... still I have a hope

I did some tests to follow the request of fertility clinic.
Dr advice us to do IUI, but because of corona virus they are stop working.

There's a chance. Chances are just low at 40 but that's normal! I would say ask your doc: "based on my FSH, estradiol, AMH and antral follicle count, what do you think my chances are?" Consider taking coq10 if you aren't already. Make sure you're eating healthy, getting exercise and enough sleep.

Hi! Thank you for your positive videos. I have one baby and have just lost one first trimester. I am 40 and my BMI is 25 and I never finished losing the weight from my first pregnancy. I found intermittent fasting using the 5:2 diet useful, but are these types of diets allowed when trying to conceive, or do you think that it would be bad for egg quality?
Intermittent fasting is great. Like 16:8. But us women have to take care of our cycle. I only juicefast 1 day before I get my period until maximum day 5/6 of my cycle. Then I wanna EXPAND. Be a woman: receive! Build estrogen. Be happy and in abundance😘❤🤗
I recommend this for you and then switch to a keto diet. Your body has to be healthy but not thinking that it is deprived and can't support a pregnancy. 😊
I lost my daughter at 7 months of pregnancy (she had no corpus callosum) I was 42 y old and my daughter was a miracle and now because I can’t wait to much I al 43yo I am trying IVF but well not easy bc i m not positive… so girls don’t wait too much

Thank you for calling out celebs! I wish all specialists were as compassionate as you when dealing with older patients. The clinic I am working with does not offer implantation testing! They were actually quite offended that I had done this much research. As they were answering, I was reminded for the umpteenth time that at my age my chances of normal embryos that will implant are low! This is after 13 harvested eggs and 4 fertilized embryos. (Today is day 1 so I have to wait till day 5 but I am NOT losing hope!) I have had 2 fibroid surgeries and my uterus is heterogeneous. No kids before ! Is there anything I can do to see implantation may be successful?
sweet ticker no one cares more about embryos than you so keep asking questions. I would consider a hysteroscopy if you haven’t already.
I guess every clinic has its cons. We've passed clomid IUI, medicated cycles with monitoring, 2 failed ivf with own eggs in the UK clinic, still no baby. They used to spill embryos on the floor and than have you to charge this. Adding more and more sums fee to the cycles-This bothered us madly! Actually our last shot with them made us switch the clinics. We headed off to Ukraine for ivf with donor egg.

Of course there is hope. The likelihood of pregnancy for anyone at 41 is low. not zero but low no matter what your AMH Level is. Take coq10, prenatal, fish oil and vitamin D if your D is low and talk to an IVF doctor too about your options.

I wish I found your videos earlier, I've been google on the fertility clinics in the bay area, I didn't see many comes up until I was already in IVF cycles, which was too late...:-( I am in the Norther Bay area, I went to a fertility clinic in Marin. I have spent tons of money on the 3 IVF cycles, which took 9 months to finally finish up, but it's getting worse and worse each cycle i didn't get one egg to work...I'm 42 now and started fertility since 40...I'm debating if I should just give up using my own egg.
Becca L hi Becca!!! I’m so happy you found me. My general rule is that if after three cycles you aren’t able to get a blastocyst then makes sense to consider other options. But if you are still making a blast and it isn’t normal there could still be a chance. I’m sending you positive thoughts right now.
@@EggWhisperer Thanks! In the first cycle, I got 2 blastocysts, Grade A, but both arrested on day 5. I didn't get any eggs on 2nd cycle, I also got cysts twice, the last cycle I got one follicles, but it didn't triggered.
@@BeccaL2016 My general rule is: if your follicle count at trigger shot day is less than 3 the likelihood for a woman our age to get a healthy egg is really low. It obviously isn't no :) but you know what I mean. I tell my patients: if no fertilization, if no blast formation, the likelihood of success is very low. I want my patients to spend more time as parents not patients when they're over 40 so there's still time in their lives to be grandparents :) I would recommend thinking about other options and give yourself a timeline. Say something like: If I'm not successful with my own eggs by September, I'll have the closure I need to move on to donor eggs/embryos. I know it's easier said than done and sometimes can take a team to help with this ultimately. I have great therapists my patients work with so do let me know if you need referrals in our area. virtual hugs from me, aimee
I am 41 years old and I had two cycle of IVF but one follicles each time with one egg. Unfortunately, the embryo was not healthy. I starting the 3 cycle of IVF. I took a month off and have been taking vitamins and change my diet.

Hi Dr. Aimee, I ‘m 40 years old and couple of IVFs failed with fresh transfer and I’m going to do frozen transfer this year. I have 5 day 5 embryo and 4 day 3 embryos. My doctor wants to start with day 3 embryos first and later day 5 embryos. I’m little concerned with implantation and Can you give any suggestion for my transfer, tests and successful pregnancy? Hello! I’m 40, PCOS, and overweight. I just had my first IVF last Friday (5 days ago) and I got 27 eggs and 12 embryos have made it to Blast! I do feel like CoQ10 and Serovital (HGH type supplement) helped with my quality. Should I continue all these supplements through my frozen transfer in April and hopefully pregnancy?

Can CQ10 be taken weeks into the start of the injections and while taking the injections?
yes but ask your doctor. I ask my patients to take it even sometimes in pregnancy in some situations but it doesn't mean it should be something that everyone does. Do talk to your doc and ask them what they recommend.
What about icsi for women 44 ?
I love your calm voice. So reassuring. I am 40 years old. And my AMH is 6.35. Having a laparoscopic Myomectomy and tubes removed due to severe blockage. IVF is next once I recover. So you think I stand the chance to get pregnant at first try? The money for IVF is so much xpensive.,.... what are my chances please?
Thank you for the compliment! I do think you stand a chance. I would be sure to take coq10 if you aren't already. I would ask your doc: how long until you are ready to do IVF. Typically, I ask patients to wait 1 cycle after the myomectomy to do IVF. Ask your doc to go through your IVF Options: fresh transfer vs frozen with and without genetic testing of the embryos. www.sartcorsonline.com/Predictor/Patient is a link I share with my patients. You'll see that your chances of success after 3 cycles will be around 37%. 17% after the first cycle, 28% after the second cycle, 37% after the third cycle. I think you have a good chance of success at your age.

I’m going through IVF at 41 for first time after years of trying and found this video not very positive. It basically says I have no chance. My AMH is 10pmol and I’ve been told I have odds of 10 to 25%. I have 2 friends who conceived naturally at 42 so it’s not impossible.

Hello Doc! I am 40 and I have 4 children the youngest being 16. I had a tubal ligation reversal. We have been trying for a year but I had to have 2 polyps removed during that time. My fsh was 8 cycle day 3. Would I be a good candidate for ivf? I really want it to happen naturally. I have a normal cycle ovulating between cycle day 14 and 17. Progesterone is always good 7 days after ovulation.
Lanisha Fisher hi! The way I think about it is once an embryo goes in your uterus, nature definitely takes over :) but I know what you mean. Your levels sound very reassuring. At 40 chances are low but it seems like you have what it takes. I would get your AMH checked to know more about what your expectations should be re: number of eggs retrieved. And my other recommendation is to consider an hsg before you transfer or your cycle to make sure you aren’t at risk for ectopic.

My wife is 43 and have had 3 IVF cycles from 3 different clinics. We are financially strapped and only have one more shot. Egg donation might be our only recourse. How do you know which are the best clinics. Also freezing versus fresh eggs.

So I had consultation for IVF and upon my second appointment for sonogram to check my uterus cavity. Dr kind of scared me that my cavity is bigger than he ever seen even though I only have one child before who is 11. I’m 44 at the moment. What you think of it? Should I be concern about it. hi Kalsoom. Thank you for sharing. I think there's a chance what your doctor described is adenomyosis. Definitely ask your doctor: "Do I have adenomyosis and what do you think I should to do give myself the best chance for pregnancy." Depending on the size of the uterus we sometimes consider taking medications like depot-lupron before transferring. I hope your cycle is smooth and successful.

41 went through my 1st IVF cycle. Had 17 eggs, only 10 were mature. Only 5 became embryos. Waiting to hear about 3 more (as they matured a day late). No one will tell me the attrition rate or percentage range of achieving viable embryos after day 5-7. What is the optimal number of viable embryo transfers that lead to a live birth?

hello,my firts IVF was 2 years ago when i was 38, and after 2weeks wait my BHCG level was 54 but we failed. so we start again this year, i'm 40 now and my AMH is 0.22, so with IVF natural cycle we get 1 blastocyst embryo that already freeze. now we wait for this month cycle, to do the embryo transfer. any advice for me? what to do before the embryo transfer? because i'm so nervous and i will do my best to make this time. If you haven't had: HSG and kidney ultrasound, you should. Talk to your doctor about the risks of pregnancy with a unicornuate uterus and talk about doing IVF. It's possible you can carry a healthy pregnancy. Your doctor will tell you more. If you were my patient, I would talk to you about doing 1-2 IVF cycles and also talk about using a gestational carrier if a transfer wasn't successful. There is still hope for you! I have had patients successfully carry a pregnancy with a unicornuate uterus.

Hello doctor, I am 45 years old, been married for 17 years, never conceived naturally. My husband's sperm count is very low. I have had 2 cycles of IVF, got 2 embryos both the time, however neither time got implanted. I have no other known fertility issues detected in tests.
I still get my periods on a cycle of 28 to 32 days.
I am of Indian ethnicity and here most doctors do not evwn recommend IVF beyond 45. Is it correct that IVF success also depends on what ethnic background a couple belongs to? Should I still consider one more cycle of IVF? Our major concerns are both effect on physical healtg and financial.

The "other options," "one way or another," and if you're "not ready yet to hear this adoption thing I'm throwing at you it's okay" rhetoric is your only blind spot. You are such an amazing person and doctor. And I know that you consistently make statements like these because you want everyone to feel like a parent.
I think what you and others alike don't realize is that for many people egg/embryo/child adoption is not fulfilling for them and does not equal motherhood. And that's okay. I think when you make the assumption that it's an option or that it's something they're "not ready for" that they will eventually just buckle on and surrender to, it is unfair and ignores their values and dreams. The kicker is when it's being said from a high horse or from someone who has privilege because they did actually get the dream of real motherhood. I just hope at some point you can reevaluate the way you phrase this particular piece and wait to find out from each individual what their actual options are before deciding that for them.
It might show not only that you haven't given up on their behalf already but that you also are willing to understand them so that they don't feel alienated in their experience.
If after trying everything some people just can't be parents, what might feel more validating and healthy would be to accept it and find another purpose in life rather than have the adoption pill shoved down their throats and be gaslit into thinking they should be happy with it and that it's a perfectly viable alternative.

I went to two fertility doctors and both told me adopt. Nothing wrong with adoption but it hurt because no one will help me.

How does someone save up Ivf
It's so expensive ,that's why I think alot of woman wait so that they can save up for it. It costed me over $25,000 for two rounds of ivf that failed.
