I am making this building so to be able the make use the inside of this building. I’m even putting in an up stairs for rooms to rent at the “Ben Bow Inn for my Treasure Island playset. I'm both amazed and slightly horrified at the level of obsessiveness needed to work through the specific's of the holsters on a 3 1/2" action figure line. Well done. I'm also baffled as to why Hasbro would create so many instances of new tooling for something so trivial as the revolver holsters? There has got to be a story behind that somewhere?

  • @JosephDickersonUX
    @JosephDickersonUX Před 2 lety +15

    I love that Hasbro actually did a 3 3/4" Indy line but... I'm also glad I never fell into that particular rabbit hole. I would have done exactly what Michael did... Got EVERYTHING. I only have so much room and so I passed. Glad to see that with a bit of kitbashing you can have a quite nice Indy figure.
    BTW happy 40th anniversary, Raiders!

    As a firearm collector who was obsessed with raiders from age 6(the theater poster from our hometown hung above my bed, reenacted the idol swap in my yard, so on) the raiders handgun is even more of an enigma.
    Ends up it is a smith wesson hand ejector(model name) with the front sight removed and a band driven on the barrel with a non Smith Wesson sight
    Looking back my dad would take me to see the movies he wanted to see on Sunday nights.
    I vividly remember raiders, empire, krull and even first blood as a kid.
    As a dad now I didn't let my kids watch the face melting scene at 6!!!

    Not for nothing, but I honestly think the folks it Hasbro sometimes have these meticulous detail swaps in hand just so you'll buy more than one. Never mind seeing a different figure, but they put different Gear with different figures and different colors so if someone does want to go through this exercise to get the definitive figure they have to buy multiple figures. It's been like this for a few other lines they've done also. So to me as awesome as it is to watch Michael go through this, I am honestly not surprised he had to go through this.

    • @myronaustin
      @myronaustin Před 2 lety

      Rush may be a factor, but honestly they can make a killing on variants from any of the movies. . .
      If they keep missing the mark and produce those tiny differences the diehard "gotta have them all" crowd will chase and of course brag about the score.
      And those of us that want the best representation, will probably, at a different angle follow suit.
      Then you get the guys like Michael who are out to assemble that grail if and when need be.
      Each collector gets their beaks wet and Hasbro collects a profit.

    I found this strangely pleasant to watch. Your hawk-eyed observations and keen planning for your custom are the kind of design principles I love seeing in action. Nicely done, sir.
    I was in my teens when the Hasbro figures came about, but as much as I adore Indy, I gave them a pass at the time. I just wasn't into 3-3/4" figures (I was a big Marvel Legends/6" fig guy) and the limited hip articulation - same with Star Wars - bothered the heck out of me. Now I'm all into 3-3/4" figs and the only Hasbro Indy figure I own is a *Colonel Vogel.* Managed to find it hiding in the shelves of a toy shop, the last remnant of an age long gone.
    Seeing this, I really wish I had a 1930s pulp-themed 3-3/4" figure set. Just a bunch of adventurers that you could just play with and have covering all the major archetypes of pulp, including a pseudo-Indy.
