Fun pimps lost control of the console version for awhile that was why there wasn't an update for a long time. When Telltale went out of business they had to bid to get the rights back to their own game again and updated it.

Ya, left us on alpha 15 with tidbits of alpha 16 for years. Then tell us we have to pay full price to get their 1.0 release. Get f**kd. They were still charging people $45 cad for 7 days on ps4 last year. And to top it off, they said they can't do split screen because the console can't handle it. Peace out funpimps

Ye shit sucked, I remember on PS4 when communities were still a thing there were at least 3 full communities (100,000 players each)dedicated to 7DTD even though we never got actual multiplayer servers, that just shows how much the console community loves this game, I wouldn't be surprised if it took the top spot on the top played games for PlayStation when it releases in July.

You need to do tour research on why the game never got updated on console. Its a lot deeper than just "they didnt want to update it"
It was due to the closing of TellTale their original publisher. Which nearly made them close down development too. I think they stopped for consoles cause they personally don’t specialize in developing for them and they didn’t have the money to maintain updates.
@@feartrain1282 They stopped updating for consoles because of the rules that both consoles have in place regarding updates. While they could, and should have been more transparent along the road about it, Madmole did say this during a devstream. On console you cannot put out an update that bricks an existing save. On PC we have the luxury of picking exactly which Alpha update we want to play on if the update makes our current game not work properly, this feature doesn't exist on console. Thus, the absolute delay in announcing anything regarding console updates until they could put out a "1.0" release. Theoretically nothing that comes after the 1.0 launch will make a previous save not work, but I'm iffy about that as well with the lack of both bandits and the story probably being updates that will make old saves not work right.

this is a pretty ignorant take that paints the fun pimps in a bad light as far as the console version is concerned, and that's a load of bull because they got screwed over when the company that owned publishing rights went bankrupt and they could not update it on consol. The devs have stated that if they did not lose the rights to it they would have updated it alongside the PC verson.

@@beardednewt2411 That is true, But it was a 3rd party that helped them. Iron Galaxy. They ported the game into console so they had the experience for programming the console edition, not The Fun Pimps.
Well, for the PS4 xbox One, they can update it now and make it more stable & add a few things.

ngl i feel like this game needs more melees, like we should get swords, machetes, stuff of that sort because if theyre gonna make a dismemberment system, shouldnt we have more weapons that would logically dismember zombies? maybe its just a personal gripe but id kill for some more bladed weapons, and even some exotic ones like whips or even shields.

dude, the melee in this game is worse than skyrim's... similar but with loasd of lags and stutter.. Btw.. we had removable parts in zombies long ago.. were removed because evident reasons.. game can hardly keep running with 5 zombies on the screen...

The entire point of the game is to prep and survive bloodmoons not follow some baked cliche story. Any and all story telling in game is entirely environmental. Honestly would be better off dropping the story and focusing elsewhere

@@DustedArchivist not true, game was sold as minecraft meets fallout 3. there was always going to be a story mode. that's why navesgane is in the game. it was the original map. they got distracted by random gen, then forgot all about the story.

9640 hours in this game ive been playing since alpha 15 i have no idea what im going to about name so use to alpha.
I started playing this game back in in early 2015 and it is definitely not what it used to be. It feels more like a looter-shooter now than an open world survival game
I got 7 days to die way back when the terrain was still blocks. After enjoying the game thoroughly I did put forth money towards the company and essentially investing in them. It wasn’t the lightest amount of money either. And as an investor I’d personally prefer to not see the game I poured a lot of extra money into be sold 10 years later for nearly $50. I already own the game, but even still I firmly believe the price is being marked up far too high. The games good don’t get me wrong, but unless this update transforms it into near triple A quality (which I don’t see happening) it would never be worth the marked up prices.
I got both 7DTD and Fallout 4 due to sales price 5 years ago 😅

People forget, 7 days to die was first released by the now defunct Telltale games on the console, not Fun Pimps. They have to republish on console themselves so that it can get updated, hence the unique version name for the console edition.
First of all the fun pimps created the game 7 days to die and they don't know how to do console games cuz they're just a PC gaming company that's all they do is PC games they said it themselves so they asked a company Telltale if they would help them with the game Telltale said yes absolutely no problem we could do that however Telltale was in deep debt at the time and was biting off more than they can chew and when the deal fell through and they couldn't do any more work on the console like they were doing the upgrades they said they were going to do a patch that would get it to Alpha 19 they said no give us the game back they sued him to get the game back and that was it for 4 years the fun pimps had complete control of every part of the game including the console version and they decided hey let's just say it's a new game and charge everybody 44.95 unless of course you bought it for $9 and then you get all the upgrades for free all the way up to 7.0 by the way by 7.0 they should have the lips moving on the Traders

The thing about Console is that FunPimps did not sell people the original console version. It be like getting pissed at DC because studio who made Suicide Squad made a bad game. And then Fun Pimps did not have the code for original console so it had to be written from ground up.
i'm fine with it and i've first played 7DTD back when they still had the minecraft-style boxy world blocks. i'm optimistic about the future updates but i guess it will be a small issue for modders since they probably would have to make some of their mods from the ground up for the new 1.0

after just looking at the first few posts people have it right. the reason console will have to pay to buy the game is because the game as it is now is a totally different game from what console has. but they have stated that they are planning to have some sort of discount for people who already own it on console. they have not stated as to how much the discount will be as of yet. but I'm sure as it comes closer they will announce that.
The majority of people nerd raging are PC players who bought the game on a steam sale for $7. Personally I am beyond excited to finally get the updated version on console. Even without a discount, $45 is nothing for what we are getting. Everyone has wasted more than that on far less. I'm so tired of this whiny age of outraged entitlement. There are so many countless things to be upset about in the world, video game updates should be the least of it.
@@tennesseeheckler3014 What are you talking about have you seen TFP's Twitter getting bombarded by console whiners every time they announce an update. The most PC players complain about is the loss of armor/clothing slots and missing A15 'learn by doing' in favor of trait points but that's largely in the past already.
Looking forward to these updates (idc about console) but not looking forward to how its gonna push back the releases of undead legacy and rebirth, 2 of the best overhaul mods out there.

When 7D2D started it was a PC game for a long long time before it ever came out on console. This video makes it sound like it was both from the start which just is not true. The game originally released only on PC in December 2013 Consoles could not run it at most times of its development. TFP eventually got a deal and made a console version with Telltale games in 2016, that turned out very badly in the end,( businesswise.) Today, its really not "gold or 1.0" IMHO, as its got a long way to go, as their "roadmap" shows. It also has many bugs that need to be fixed, and has for a long time. I'm a huge fan of the game since playing it after its first couple years in 2015, but its always been a work in progress and that has not changed. I just think TFP wants to get it out on console for multiple reasons. (Tired of being asked for a console version, a large younger age audience, maybe a profit boost, etc etc.) Its a completely different game now and has to be completely reworked for consoles unlike PC.
also re Worlds, every major version you need to restart, so at this point there is not point in playing till 1.0 comes out, but that's fine as starting out is a key part of the game
I'm curious if I'll be able to continue playing the current console version. I'd rather play the current version with split screen than the new one without it. It's great that it's being upgraded and I'm sure it will be great, but without split screen it loses it's appeal. So, will I be able to run it on my xbox 1 or my ps4? Or will the alpha versions stop on the xbox 1and ps4 once the v 1 drops, even though they can't run it?
you probaly will, unless they revoke the license , but the difference is huge , since OG console version and what will have parity with the PC version, the world , POI's are far more diverse, complex ,as there legal issues with telltale did'nt necessitate them pulling the Telltale version i.e what you have , then i doubt they will do it now , they will pull it from sale as they said, but it's basically a new game, so i'd imagine you could have both on current gen
What's messed up is that the new console version won't support split screen. My wife and I have been playing split screen on ps4 since 2017. Every year waiting for a console update. Finally get one, we have to pay for it, and it won't even have split screen anymore. The kicker is I also have the game on PC, but cross platform won't come until "Q4" 2024, which means either Q3 2025 or never. So despite having paid for 2 versions, literally buying a ps5 once 1.0 was announced, we won't be able to play split screen on any new versions past alpha 14 from the old console version, and at best will be waiting a minimum of 6 months to be able to play cross Gen. And by that point there will be things the PC version has that console doesn't because developers have such a hard on for PC.
You played on split screen because the game was relatively light to handle. Split screen = twice the ressources to process in real-time. The 1.0 release is an entire new game demanding a lot of power. It uses almost 100% of the hardwares (pc or console). Split Screen isn't possible.
If you look at the positives, the console version of 7 Days to Die will be launched in July and that's pretty cool. Your old console game wasn't the propriety of The Fun Pimps. It was owned by Telltale Games and they filled for bankruptcy in 2018.
It's a whole new game now.

Not to attack your method of play, but split screen is a thing of the past and does not/should not need to exist anymore. Same for consoles really... They are non-upgradeable pcs with operating systems that limit them to playing games and few other types of apps. 7dtd supports controller on pc if you hate mouse and keyboard. It would be nice if we could have all games on 1 medium excluding VR type stuff. It's all a large package of disadvantages. I genuinely feel it best to just end consoles and push all games that don't require a drastically different set of equipment into pc and same thing when pc gets replaced. It's not part of the stupid pc vs console war. It's just updating technology. For the time being, I hope they keep console = to PC on updates.
-One of the things keeping consoles alive I noticed is the exclusive games stuff where they force you to play that console just to experience the game which is scummy. Nintendo does this a lot while having sub par consoles as they never upgrade them enough.
@CaffeineCaffeine why would it not need to exist anymore? That's kind of a stupid take, one you wouldn't have if you had people you would like to play games with irl. What keeps consoles alive is that they are a superior experience. They allow for the purchase of medium that has a shelf life longer than 2 years. An affordable purchase at that. 500 dollars buys you almost a decade of play. Whereas a pc costs a minimum of 2 grand, and at that price point you're not even able to play games on maximum settings out of the box. In 1 year you're barely meeting minimum system requirements, and in 2 to 3 years you can't meet min requirements for high end games.
@@geraldalbone7 Consoles like playstations and xboxs are unupgradable pcs. Pcs stay relevant longer considering specs for the same games as consoles. Consoles tend to have toned down versions of graphics due to the weaker components. There is a reason why consoles are frequently limited to 30-60 fps. They are just starting to get into 120 withsony's new stuff. Any device can do that effortlessly for a decade. Current not even top of the line PCs run at 120-thousands of fps depending on what game they are running. The reason why some pcs don't last as long is lack of quality in some brands or unoptimized games. & days to die is severely unoptimized. As for the device i'm using. It cost 1800 and has served me for over 4 years and almost halfway to 5 and it is still running games flawlessly at 120fps. It is a laptop which further increases the cost. I could build a brand new >desktop< right now for under 2k that would last 7+ years and I could replace individual parts when I need more power/speed out of it. With pc you are making an investment. While console you are buying something to get rid of. Another reason why pcs cost more is they can do everything while consoles only do gaming and basic social media/YT. PCs are able to run all console games. You can connect a controller to a pc. I do agree however that PC parts are overpriced rn. You can thank mostly NVIDIA for that. AMD makes some nice GPUs for 3/4ths to 1/2 the price NVIDIA does. You cannot just straight up lie to me and say consoles are more powerful than PCs. If that were true, then PCs would never have succeeded consoles.

really? how about the fact the fun pimps kept selling the console version after they got the rights back, even though they knew they wouldn't be able to update it? or the fact that they are only pushing a 1.0 release so they can sell the game on playstation, since sony doesn't have an early access program like xbox and steam do. the game isn't finished, not by a long shot. and waywardeko is a good youtuber, but he's also clearly biased about the game. i saw his video, and he skimmed over all the negative stuff.
That’s cause the base game was complete enough even tho it no longer was being updated. They sold it on sale for 5 dollars most of the time. Dirt cheap. So what was there is worth it.
The only thing that I'm complaining about is that i still have no new reason to play again (not a content update).. I was really hoping for bandits and/or story mode already..

well there won't be. once they actually add the story mode, then you'll have a goal. but the point of the current game is to survive for as long as possible. there is no real end game, never will be. mods do add that though.

Honest question: Do these console companies charge the devs for releasing their games/updating them now? Did they change that because that would explain a lot with respect to games now charging for the console versions now.
Consoles charge publishers every time they release an update, unless it is in alpha or beta status. I'm guessing that the last gen fiasco with the unsupported port made Sony and XBox demand that TFP release it as a "full" release, which would explain going gold early.
@@tennesseeheckler3014 So to provide the same level of service they give the PC releases, they have to pay. That would explain higher prices for console players, the publisher (Fun Pimps) have to pay them for each patch/release and that is not the case with PC updates.
If it costs more to do it, you're a fool to not charge more.
microsoft and sony both have to test the games to ensure they don't brick the consoles, create security holes, etc. rather than eating that cost, they charge devs that. keeps a lot of crappy spam games off of the consoles at least.
Ive owned this game for about 10 years now. But stopped playing about 6 years ago. Didnt even know that it finally made it to 1.0 i guess i go dust my old Steam library off and see what happens.
best part is you can keep and download your older version . and play them moddes :}
With there being cross platform I hope this means we will be able to have actual multiplayer servers on console unlike before where we could only have games that required the host to be online at all times.
I love 7DTD but without PVP I got bored because it was way too easy after like day 21, this game is great we just need that PVP/PvE balance to keep gameplay fun and addictive.
as Dedicated servers tend to use another process, i.e on PC , that to make full use of and should always be running, i suspect with high confidence it means you can connect to PC hosted Dedicated servers, either on a persons PC or a hosting company.
If you wished to run your own one a cheap PC could handle it, a laptop for instance.
If the dedicated server is running on console within the same App/Process as 7 days , it would mean if you closed the game , the Server would go down and Consoles are not really designed to multitask programs in that manner
I did it with Space engineers, i was playing on PC , Dedicated seperate server on same PC , and allowed 2 friends with PS5's to connect.Worked fine.
@@davidrenton Funny fact about this game, and is one of the reasons it runs so poorly in SP specially. Even when you play singleplayer, the game creates a server in your PC, then your game client connects to said server, which is temporal of course. This makes no sense at all unless you are planning doing a peer to peer game and you are lazy...or you are totally clueless about unity and just go for the first option that works...This is why they game sometimes have a feeling of network lag even when playing sp, it is actually networking, just in your pc...

These are the 4 quarters of the year. Q1 is the first 3 months of the year, followed by Q2 (april, may, june), etc.
Q2: Quake 2 game. Q4: Quake 4 game. Both are nice games. 😂
I'm just happy to see this game finally going gold lol. Every alpha TFP releases is full of content but until now, there was never really and incentive to really grind past game stage 200 since your gonna have to make a new world within a year. Now everyone can play the game knowing what they're doing wont be meaningless withing 18 months. Also the armor system change and animation improvements were heavily needed. I get people want new things rather then redo's old systems but i don't think people understand the impact of these changes. The game will feel and look WAY more polished.

compared to what last gen 7 days was , this will be a massive upgrade,i started on PS4 and it's basically a pre alpha compared to what the PC version is , i think most console owners will be fine with it, esp if it's a good 60 FPS. i know many console owners who where drooling at what it has become and what it is for them.
you are insane if you expect 60 fps on console when 6 zombies show up...Unless they hire competent people to do a proper port, then maybe they will fix it..
I can't get mad at the fun pimps over the console edition, that old version they published through telltale is such a drastically different game than what the game currently is that they basically have to treat it as a separate game. The last time I played it, it only had some of the alpha 16 content and it ran like absolute piss, there were moments where it ran at like 5 frames a second from opening a vault hatch door.

20 bucks for an open-world-coop-tower-defense-zombie-shooter with procedurally generated worlds and vehicles and crafting with decent graphics that is supported by community for 12 years now... oh you can also dig out a cave and build your base underground... nuff said

As a matter of fact the difference between the Xbox series X and Brooklyn is that Brooklyn is All Digital the graphics card and everything is at the same power that the Xbox series X is at there is no upgrade on that like the PlayStation 5 and the PlayStation 5 Pro there's a lot more different upgrades that they needed to do to get it to run as well as the Xbox series X Xbox Brooklyn I don't think anybody's going to buy this game for the Xbox series X from what I've seen in the reviews for the game a lot of people are upset

All those updates to include a new: weather system? Bandits? spawn system? Those were all things they said they wanted in during Early Access, but just never seemed to get done. Even though they kept on saying it would get done, every time people kept brining it up, for years, and years, and years, and years, and years.
@@yeost187 Probably because they decided to work with the console version in tangent with the pc and a lot work meant that they weren't able to get that out as they wished.

@@familyvalue5588 Also a significant portion of their dev team have moved to a new Unreal Engine game. Even before that, a lot of TFP devs and asset creators were contract or intermittent part-time.
The only reason for calling it that is they had to opt out of early access to make Sony and Microsoft happy. Nothing more to it.

i'm not going to lie but as much as the flaws of 1.0 getting rid of clothing and stuff will suck. I hope they fix the damn problems they have a ton of issues with. Bad news for console owners of 7 Days to DieHowever, in 2017-due to Telltale going bankrupt-the console ports of 7 Days to Die stopped receiving updates and have mostly been left abandoned by The Fun Pimps, even after the studio got control of the ports in 2019.
This is basically in the end of it fun pimps the owner of the bakery blaming the baker for the debacles that they did not test or they did not care actually about what the game was going to be like since they had the game for 4 years they could have taken it to another Baker which is what they finally did in the end they took it to another company that how do we know is going to we're going to have the same problems we had in the original version oh I'm sorry it's not the original version It's the Legacy version it has nothing to do with the new 1.0 which is not 7 days to die but its 7 Days to Die 1.0 early release 2.0 comes out in 2026 so they they're doing it like Bethesda does it for Elder Scrolls they just come up with a new name for Elder Scrolls oh wait a minute they are actually different games yeah there's different games for that same genre how does that oh that's pretty cool fun pimps can't do that though

It's very important that you read the dates and you understand why it took them the time it took them to decide to change the game they said the reason was Hardware restraints but the Xbox series X has been out for how many years and they've had the game back for how many years you can't blame the baker what for what ships out of the door to the market you could only blame the owners for not keeping an eye on their product
My understanding is that the console version can't be updated to the new version due to limitations. It's like If you owned Halo 1, then they released Halo II you had to pay for the new game. Same thing.

I feel like most people dont get it. Its not bc of the consoles. Its tale tales fault. They went bankrupt. They were publishinh it on console. They had to sue to get the console rights back. Then find a new publisher. So now its a new publisher so seperate game from the original on console bc they have to. It sucks I hate the price increase but it is what it is.

As a console player, I don’t care what the price is. I got this game in 2017 and it’s been one of my favourites ever, I never saw any sort of update coming and now the game is finally getting released fully and there’s going to be more stuff added

Their toad map is basically the same thing they have been promising but cant ever deliver. bandits still not being a thing while there are so many mods that do it already and even wondering vendors… like dude, weather and bioms always get a over haul every patch…
They always say there will be new quest… this is just the next patch nothing new.
they never had the skillset to pull the bandits and they refuse to hire someone to do it in 1 week, which is what will take an experienced person to basically lay the framework for it.. If they ever release bandits, expect them to have the AI of day Z zombie...

The console version was an alpha, alpha versions of games even if it's paid access you know you are buying a game that isn't done or out officially yet. Of course they are gonna make you pay for the game, it's the actual game, it's a different build altogether not the alpha version. I expected this and to me what they've done feels commonly practiced in the industry

Honestly I don't believe they had any intention going gold. I think they got in trouble by Steam and were forced to go live because they have been in early access for over 10 years. I don't know anything else that has been in early access for over 10 years. To be fair the good thing is they kept working on the game and improving it, and I also really have liked this game and played over 1000 hours on it because it is one of the best sandboxes I have played.
they are going gold so they can sell the game on ps 5. sony doesn't have an early access program like steam and xbox do. and sony is the biggest platform and likely to make them a bunch of money. hence the sudden 1.0 release despite not being a finished product. the game shouldn't have taken this long to make, the problem was they kept reinventing systems over and over again as they tried chasing trends. the game was supposed to be minecraft meets fallout 3. then it was that, but skyrim instead, then it was fallout 4. now it's learn by looting.
@@spicydeath82 yes, they have been developing the game sideways based on the multiplayer games they have been playing during all these years. They have a huge inferiority complex with their game and it shows. For example, the actual UI in the game, it is basically the old RUST temporal UI. They redid the whole thing just because they were playing rust back then and that was the UI rust was using as a place holder.. Same with meat items.. They removed all the diferent meats, which made cooking interesting, and put a single meat item "to save memory" lmao. All this was because of their complex and RUST. The funniest part, and what has me rolling still nowadays, is that not much after, RUST moved to a more old school UI and added multiple meat items, since the single item was a placeholder.. YOu see how stupid this is, they get influenced by the placeholders of another game, then the new game moves on to something better, something they already had in first place... The irony of this still gets me.
wait you're mad at THAT? lol I stopped playing because they planned on implementing lame AF outfits with set bonuses and I hated that. I mean just the nerd outfit alone was enough to trigger me into ending my playthrough when I saw it was being planned (again). also sort of bored with how hoardes work.. it was like 7 or 8 versions of the game I'd be pissed at TFP for something but would keep playing... but that change to the outfits just did me in. at this point I don't even care if they never did or do implement those outfits, just the threat pissed me off enough to walk away. lol and yes I DO see it as a "threat" ...to assault my eyes. lmfao 😜

If the Fun Pimps can get fsr 3.1 on this game for PC and consoles, then everyone will benefit and the game will definitely run properly on less powerful machines.
i'm not sure that will help as 7 Days performance tends to be CPU limited not GPU, Graphically it's not that intensive, it's the CPU having to account for each individual block status. It might help a bit, same with Frame Gen. I think current gen will run it fine

YOu know, when they hacked together this game's first prototype, they bough many many unity assets and glued them together with little knowledge. That is the foundation of this game and has been dragging it for 1 decade. A man problem is that they went super cheap with the tech they got. They bough the cheapest packages for everything. The voxel tech for example. They went for an amateur made package that costed around 200 dollars. There was an amazing plug in for voxel that ran x10 faster than that one, it allowed huge ass building destruction without lag, in computers of its time.. but it was 1000 dollars.. so they went for the 200 dollars package...you cant expect any better....

Isn't the current console version on Xbox one and ps4 technically owned by another company that went under? That's why they didn't get updates anymore I'm pretty sure since the fun pimps technically don't own that version. So when they re release it, it'll be a "new" game. They can't upgrade a version they don't own.
they got the rights back awhile ago. but they kept selling it anyways despite knowing they weren't going to be able to update it.

Makes sense to charge extra for console version. Look at it this way, if they didn't spend time optimizing for shitty console hardware they would probably have more time to focus on actual game features. Nobody forces you to buy the game, yo. And the price increase after the game exits the early access is also very logical, that's the point of early access. I got this game for a dollar during a sale years ago, now what? That money went to development probably so console players could enjoy this game on their shitty console hardware. But of course 50 bucks for a sandbox game is a bit too much even minecraft deluxe costs only a twenty.

Man, madmole is a guy who, 20 years ago, was lurking around 3d and texturing websites, for profesionals, trying to get them working for free for his "projects", believing he was a god of design, shitting on other's amazing work while his was mediocre if any.. this is that guy.. the guy who lost a dog because he didnt finish a fence he was building...This guy reallly believes his ideas are godsent and the rest as crap, yet he copies every feature he sees in the game he is playing and tries to put it in their game, even if it does not make sense... man man.. Imagine, this is a guy who told those super good profesionals "you have to work for free for me until you prove you are good enough".. have you seen his textures and models?.. lmaaaaao. Some "upgrades", replacing unity aseets by madmole's stuff, have been a downgrade actually..Guy goes to office, does 1 texture per month and call it a day, then spends the rest of the day playing some game which will kick in his game's inferiority complex, then he will start adding crap no one asked, keeping development sideways so it never goes ahead...1 patch every year....

I find this one fact funny, As a pc and console player of 7dtd, and have seen all the changes and QoL changes they made, ill be happy to pay $45-50 for a current updated version of the pc version for console so i can play along with my little brother.

A lot of people defending TFP here seem to not understand the whole context of why console people are upset. Hell a lot of console people themselves aren't familiar with the better reasons why they should be upset.
TFP claim they had to buy the rights from dead Telltale, and that it took years-long legal litigation and a LOT of money to get it back. In reality it probably didn't cost nearly what they make it sound, was something they could absolutely pay for given continued console sales (and even a price hike) from people misled by PC update trailers, and they failed to tell console players they had the console rights in hand again for months/years despite claiming the opposite and that that was why they couldn't update it.
Admittedly a lot of the above is conjecture, but when TFP's communication is so bad and the lead dev Joel is such a blabbermouth that makes failed promises while also being tightlipped on others, people are going to fill in the blanks.

I dont even think they had to pay, i even doubt they ever lost the rights for consoles. The only thing they didnt own was the source code. Most of these contracts stipulate you have to have a viable product in x years and so on.. unless they are total fools... they never lost rights and of course they were and still are making money of the console sales....Dude, you have to understand madmole is not a videogame creator, he is an amateur modder. What he really is is a frustrated real state dealer and he has been using the money from the game to improve his real state business.. people are fool believing a guy who was lurking pro websites 20 years ago trying to get people to work for free for his "Games"... man man...
@@Trikipum I try to avoid that "gamer outrage" kind of negative thinking just like that Jade CZcamsr. All I can say is I remember the A20 stream saw years ago where Joel was getting legitimately agitated when recounting that they had to rebid on their own IP. He even said something along the lines of "we were dumb back then", so they probably were fools and did not understand publisher relations and that they weren't treated equally.
Two things can be true, Madmole might be propping up his side ventures rather than dedicating more to the game which is needed, he might be a lousy dev in the past, but 7d2d is received well enough and other than console and slow PC updates, it is not a catastrophe. There are legitimate things to criticize TFP for, but attacking his character is not one of them imo. Like I think what does that have to do with judging the game itself...
Too many outraged gamers looking to destroy devs forget how difficult being one actually is. Madmole as a studio manager released three games which despite the poor ratings still published which is more than what most could do, and sure he was "just" a modder for Doom and Oblivion, but I always find people who talk like this are out of their league. Have you developed your own game on a schedule and limited budget? I work in software engineering and I know that people who become indie devs don't do it for money, they may hit it big and leech off of later but at the start, it's the last thing you want to do to make money.

Funny everyone is touting the game as 'full release 1.0', but on the Steam store page it shows Early Access. If it was full release, why didn't they remove the Early Access tag from their store page? This is straight up false advertising.

It's totally worth it. This game is amazing
