    In this tutorial i am showing you how simple it is to do the tooled leather tumbler look.
    Things you will need are : Prepped Tumbler, Matte Spray Paint White, Your Vinyl Design, Alcohol Inks, Paint brush, and a clear Spray paint.

    Way to be a one-handed Sally. Lol. When working on tumblers, you eventually learn how to open apply and close the screw on caps of inks. Great job. 😆 🤣 😂

    Great tutorial and awesome cup! One tip for the alcohol ink, every time you add wet ink to dry it wipes off some of the dry. That’s the nature of alcohol inks. Try swiping along a darker area first then when your brush is a little drier swipe the lighter area. It should not wipe as much away that way. ❤️

      When I'm using alcohol inks and want a darker color, I do one coat, let it dry, spray it with sealer, let it dry and do another coat of ink. That way I don't keep reactivating the ink when I apply more.

      @@angiemills4070 does that work when doing this technique since you’ll use alcohol to remove some of it? I didn’t think it would remove spray paint.

      @@mamabairsdesigns3852 I'm not sure about that. It probably wouldn't. I've never rubbed away any that I've done. I just build to the color I like.

      @@angiemills4070 for this look you need to run away and the rubbing alcohol won’t do that at all when it comes to removing the spray paint

    Looks great! The ink is staying light in that spot because the ink comes off when you go over it more than once! If had this happen a few times

    Looking forward to the video of the Vinyl design going on. Could you also touch on how you deal with the seam or the start and stop of the vinyl pattern? I’m always trying to modify the file to not have a seam but it’s not easy.

    I spray my alcohol ink cups with Krylon Kamar varnish because it doesn’t make the ink run then I spray on a coat of Triple Thick, especially if I also have glitter on it. It keeps the glitter from moving when you add the epoxy. Your cup is beautiful, do you have a video of how you placed the vinyl on the cup? What kind of vinyl did you use if any?

      I have the worst luck with krylon I’ve tried a few different ones and I’ve always had issues with them. Thank you!! I do have a video on how I applied the vinyl design it’s a longer video but I show how to do it on a tapered tumbler

    Love the tutorial! I did add a name to make it like a tooled western belt and love it!!! I do have a question.... what do you do with the paper towel pieces that get stuck??? lol

    Wouldn’t it be cool to put a name amongst the tooling? I really like the way this came out. I think I would even want to keep the texture. Just seal it

      Putting a name on it would be AWESOME amongst the tooled design!! I would LOVE to do that!! I have an idea on how to get the texture to stand out to keep the feel. Youd have to do more then just seal it. Washing it would make the spray paint seal wear off. But i have an idea!

      @@mamabairsdesigns3852 I have sealed several cups with just spray paint. Multiple layers though. They wash up fine. Also multi-surface craft paint will cure and be dishwasher safe. However I don’t sell my cups. I just use them myself. I’m sure the multi surface paint would hold, but I couldn’t guarantee the spray paint.

      @@mamabairsdesigns3852 i don’t know tons about decals. I do the tape transfer thing. However spray paint didn’t hurt to at all.
      I think Crystalac would be the best way to go. Especially since you can do it inside. I discovered the hard way spray paint can get pretty weird in the wrong temp.

    I noticed you mentioned that you spray paint before putting your design on, but in the previous video showing how to apply the design you put it directly on the stainless steel. Would you use a different color for the design vinyl since the cup is already white?

      No I wouldn’t use a different design color. In the previous video I showed it going on the stainless steel to make it easier for anyone watching to see how I was applying the design. I wouldn’t use another color that way i wouldn’t have to use more coats of spray paint to cover a different color.

    Beautiful work. My question, is there any reason why this would not work with a satin spray paint? I have a customer that I am making two of these
    But with a lavender satin spray paint and then darker purple inks. I have artwork on them and just have to wait for it to stop snowing. If Satin absolutely will not work I will have to go and purchase matte lavender. Thanks for your help!

      If your using purple inks you can do a white matte. But I’m not 100% sure with the satin it’s not as glossy as gloss so it may not give any issues with the inks running and adhering properly

      @@pattycavanaugh5916 the best I can say because I haven’t ever tried with satin bc of the low gloss is just to try it and see if the inks will run. If the inks don’t run your good to go.

    Is this a straight skinny cup?? If not how do you get the shape to fit on cup, also how does one get the pattern to match up at the seam??

      This is a skinny but it has a taper to it. I made a video showing how I put the vinyl on the tumbler to make it fit. Plus makes it easier for you when it comes to putting the vinyl on. Here’s the link to that one

      Nope all you have to do is cut the design out and then apply to your tumbler, then spray paint over with white matte, then do the colors with your alcohol inks

      This one is so beautiful that I’m afraid to put any decal on it. I feel it would ruin it! And after 3 years of never making my self a tumbler I think I may keep this one. It’s absolutely amazing in person!

      I use whatever I have for these since they are getting covered in epoxy anyway. If I use temporary for this design I put a coat of spray paint over it before I do the colored design to help seal it.

      This is a 20oz skinny and yes the design is a seamless design. I posted another tutorial on how to apply this design the easiest way to make everything line up as it should

      Try using some white acrylic paint Instead of spray paint. Do a few thin coats of that. Then seal it with polycyclic.

      I used Tim holtz brand Carmel (I think that was the lighter one I have 2 sitting here and can’t remember which one exactly) and for the dark color I use sepia with about 6 drops of crimson mixed in it.     Why don't we get to see or be told how where to get design..you said etsy??? And how to do design. What do you do after you get the design. Would have been nice to see that. How to put on. Measurements ect. I'm lost. And really wanted to try it ugh. Didn't learn much..sorry just frustrated.
