As a person who has worked at amazon that worked hard and also quietly quit during a lunch break. I can confirm that this man is preaching the truth. I lost 20 pounds while working there and going to college at the same time. I only worked there for about a month. 20 pounds in one month is I repeat NOT HEALTHY.
@@visible6768 Truly it is up to 2% of your body weight tbh. SO if you're 300+lbs it could be up to 6+ lbs of weight per week. The less you weigh, the lower the number gets. Recommended is just 2 lbs per week max to achieve the most sustainable, long- term results.
One of the best somewhat recent examples of amazon not caring about their workers is probably when the Mayfield tornado hit their warehouse, all the higher ups were allowed to leave but when the workers tried to leave they were not allowed to, they were forced to continue working while under a tornado emergency (Confirmed large and dangerous tornado).

I'm wondering if this is the same one, or another warehouse where the people died. They couldn't leave and were told to stand by a wall. The wall came down and crushed them. Other people were in the "bathroom" (The bathroom is literally a cardboard box. Not safe at all.) and they were all killed as well.
As a former Amazon employee (at two different warehouses), I can confirm that TOT (time off task) or alternatively, “time theft”, is their biggest oppressive professional practice.
I worked as an Area Manager there and thought that was the biggest scam. I ran our Ship Dock and would always code TOT to something that couldn’t really be tracked since we only scanned in Pallet Lane. I saved a lot of my associates jobs that way and they worked hard in return. I was eventually let go even without reason, but I’m pretty sure that’s why. That company prides itself off high turnover.
@@majooglytango No kidding! I was “encouraged to quit” at my first warehouse because I couldn’t make rate and they knew I had disabilities. HR gave me the run around with granting my accommodations constantly. At the second warehouse I worked at, I was fired for being the VICTIM of employee assault by another employee during work hours while working the pallets. It didn’t even matter that I couldn’t do anything to her to get her psycho ass off of me.
Oh, I like the cardboard boxes. They’re always smiling. When I’m having a bad day, I look at a cardboard box and think to myself, it’s nice to know someone cares so much, that even their boxes smile back. 🫠
They do give you bathroom breaks but during the time you're off task, it is logged and they only allow so many time off tasks before they'll either move you to another station or put a reprimand in your records so you can go to the bathroom but it takes way too long for you to go from your station all the way to the bathroom which is usually further than it takes to go to the bathroom at Costco; about a block and a half worth
I worked 3rd shift at Amazon from 2019-2020 in their fulfillment center, so I just sorted packages all night and this was before the Time Off Task mess that most people know and resent. Even so, when you were sorting packages in your 2-5 aisles (yes, there were days I had to do 5 aisles by myself), the packages would just keep coming and pile up regardless of whether or not you were in those aisles or not. So, while they didn't actively punish us for going to the bathroom while the line was running back then, the extent to which you'd fall behind if you went to the bathroom for even 5-10 minutes was agonizing. I learned real quick to always hold it until they called break (which happened when they felt like it and not at any consistent time in the shift) or the mess I'd walk back to after relieving myself would be about as painful as blowing off my entire leg with an RPG. Even quitting was an aggravating process cause I tried more than once to put in my two weeks notice and had to legitimately show up during the daytime to personally confirm the date of my last day with the HR people, who still nearly fumbled the bag right in front of me. As I've often said, one of the truest signs of an awful job isn't just a revolving door of employees, but a revolving door of MANAGERS, and in the 18 months I spent working there, at least 8 people went in and out of the managing position at the fulfillment center. Burn that entire franchise to the ground.
Good on you for putting in a 2 week notice. That's professional of you. But I can't believe you had to show up your last day & talk to HR. I quit a Japanese parts company & didn't have to do that BS. All I had to do was show up my last 2 weeks... Of course who knows if their has been rule changes since I quit? *Shrug*

Only 5 aisles? They routinely try to get me to run a whole letter to myself lmao (Or more, I ran two on my own two days in a row once [About 26 aisles, at a delivery station]). And you can quit with their app these days, the third party HR must've gotten tired of all the emails. From the few that actually didn't just disappear.
I have been working in an amazon warehouse for around 16 months. It took 12 months for our managers to finally introduce hard hats because no one knew it was an OSHA violation to work inside the trailers without one. There is an incredible amount of things I can say about this company but that alone should tell you to never work for any of their warehouses. They have no respect for any of their workers, and managers are either pressured or get a power trip to adopt the same disgusting treatment of their underlings.
I worked at Amazon for 5-6 years and regretfully have nothing to show for but wear and tear on my body and near ptsd like symptoms when going into large public areas.
I worked at Amazon and I had fun. I trained new people, I was a picker, a packer, and a area floor monitor. I was lucky and worked with some great people and great managers. I quit because the pay and yes, it does wear on your body after a while. This was in the warehouse as well. I thought is going back, but I need hours that fit my school schedule. There are some pretty bad warehouses out there. Just depends on the state and having the right managers.
I worked for them when they opened a new distribution center in my town about 4 years ago. I was the only guy on the sorting line with everyone else being women ( and this is NOT a dig at women because they did work their collective asses off) and it felt like I ended up getting about 95% of all the heavy things so my scan count was always lower than most everyone else because I'm lugging 50 to damn near 100 lbs at a time. Then I got the flu right after Christmas and almost passed out on the sorting belt and missed a few days ( under doctors order) and I was terminated via email, and the email gave a a termination date of a week prior and I had been working that whole week so go figure that out. I would rather preform open heart surgery on myself with a dull spork while doing a split on a cactus made of broken glass than EVER work for Amazon again.

It's because you suck now seriously I'm sorry that's the truth you are good enough to do case but not jiffies and that's why you always have the case work dude that's what that is I set up shifts for my building and this is a constant Convo about who can get what numbers to give us what numbers we need to get us out rate so we don't get bitched at
As a current Amazon warehouse employee, listen to this man. It's actually just a slow torture. You have to turn your brain off or suffer from 10 hours of constant boredom while your body gets more and more sore over the course of the work week. On your weekends, you're basically waiting for your back and feet to stop being sore. When they start feeling normal, that's when you know it's time to start the new work week. Also, you're working the night shift, so you're always sleepy and probably have a vitaman D deficiency.
Absolutely a fulfillment center is not for everyone but I would recommend going to a sortation center or a delivery station that won’t be as tough or in your body and remember Epson salt is your best friend
I'm currently a driver, and perhaps ive had the worst jobs previously, but so far this is my favorite I've ever had. My managers are very supportive and understanding, my coworkers are friendly and helpful, there's minimal customer interaction which means minimal verbal and emotional abuse. It's fantastic! Beats working at a gas station in my experience.
I've been a nurse at Amazon for 3 years in the warehouse! We call it the slave ship! No gratitude or appreciation even when I work 10 days out of 11 days. NO RAISE in those 3 years! They DEF give you a signing bonus, but it's to hold you hostage! Lets say they give you $10k signing bonus, it will be paid on your first paycheck. You'll receive about 4-5k after tax. So if you quit within the first year, you must PAY IT BACK!!! All of it! Even the tax that you didn't receive. You received 4-5k but have to pay back the 10k! And Jeffy is busy giving away his billions! The turnaround is NUTS!! The discount is trash. Lots of free shirts though!
I was once a fan of Amazon and used it for almost everything I ordered online, as well as had Amazon prime, but when I discovered what was happening to the people working there, I was so outraged and horrified that I immediately stopped any and all business with them completely.. I absolutely REFUSE to give any company my money if they have no care for their employees well being.. I did the same with Walmart after learning about how messed up things are there as well.. Yeah I might have to spend more money elsewhere or go outta my way to get some of the things I need, but I'd rather do that than do business with companies that commit crimes against humanity, which is what they both basically do.. It aggravates me so much that some people don't get that purposefully* purchasing from these unethical companies inevitably means financially supporting these companies' work practices and the ethics of the higher-ups/CEO. The harsh reality of modern-day consumerism is that the average person can't financially or physically purchase what they need ethically 100% of the time, but what matters is that you are genuinely trying to do better and are educating yourself on the values of the companies that you purchase from. * I added this to exclude people who actually don't have any other choice but to purchase from them (e.g., rural towns that only have a Walmart).

I worked at Amazon, and everything that Jordan has stated is true. I quit during a 15 minute break. I didn’t plan on quitting, but I felt overworked, drained, and I couldn’t take another day. It is probably the most depressing job I have ever had, and I’ve worked in a job field where I was a verbal and physical punching bag for my clients, and even management.
I’m sorry you had such a bad experience. You obviously had poor management in your building because I can contest that I have very good managers that do care and if you have to go to the bathroom, they made sure someone replaced you or if you had to leave for the day for whatever your reason they made sure someone replaced you, it really sucks that I’m reading all of these horrible comments about people just being treated like a number because it is not like that at my building at all we are constantly having fun events and food events that we are treated to no one has to ever pay for things like that we have pajama day we have all kinds of things and the managers really do care And they will go out of their way to help you with your scheduling. You need a day off you need a week off whatever it is that you need. They definitely work with you to help you out and if you need to take time off, they even help you with that until you want to return.
I once worked at a 'health-based' smoothie place when I first moved out of my family's house at the age of 18. I was moving to the big city compared to where I originally grew up (and still live in said big city) and didn't know where a good place to work would be. I was looking for a job that would hire right away as I needed a job lined up close to where I was gonna live, so already my standards weren't too great. The biggest red flag that I ignored when getting the interview was that the first 'attempt' was going to be via video conference. Now, I was expecting my employer to host the interview from their work establishment, I couldn't be more wrong. My 'boss' tried to interview me initially at her home while she was eating and wearing what I could only assume was a bathrobe. But because the audio for the video call wasn't working, we scheduled it for the next day in person. So I drive down to the place and think that I'm going to get my interview held in an office of some sort, but no- it was held in the walk-in cooler where all the produce and such was being held. There was a desk in there with a single seat, so I guess it was an 'office' in a way. So here I am, freezing my butt off in a cooler with my soon-to-be boss sitting standing up while they're sitting as we didn't have another chair lying around. The interview- and I wish I was joking- only lasted 5 minutes. I kid you not, I had set up a resume, with references, contacts, and a list of credentials, and they never even bothered to read it. Red flag number two: My 'boss' left midway through said 'interview' to help up front because we didn't have enough workers. And the number of workers that were scheduled that day totaled 3 people. Sure, we were a smaller business, but no one, and I mean no one, had any idea how to manage an entire building by ourselves, as we were already overworked fresh outta high school adults. So seeing as this place was hanging on by the skin of its teeth, I should've declined. My boss then told me I got the job without really asking me anything, we never even discussed pay or when I should really start via time. They informed me to show up anywhere from 8:00am to 10:00am the next day and then gestured me to a pile of clothes on the floor underneath the desk in the cooler. It was my work uniform, well- anyone's work uniform to be exact. They just had a pile of randomly sized shirts to pick from and told me that I didn't have to wash them. (I most certainly did that day.) Red flag number three: When the next day arrived, I showed up about 30 minutes earlier than expected as I was pretty nervous about starting a new job. So while I was waiting outside, I got a text telling me not to show up until 12:00 because there were some issues going on that they didn't want me to see. And to this day, I still don't know what those said issues were. I show up, expecting a walk-through or a crash-course of some sort, but was inseatd immediately thrown up front to start taking orders for the line of customers already forming. Thankfully though, the ordering screen was simple enough to get a basic understanding of how it worked, but still. Red flag number four: I was already working there for about a week when I realized- wait, we never discussed salary or payment of any kind, so when I went up to my boss to ask them about it, they told me everyone gets paid every Friday. (I already worked for them for about 9 days,) and when confronting them about this issue, they told me that their computers had lost my banking info, which therefore didn't allow direct deposit. So I give them my info in writing this time, expecting to get paid now for my days already put in... BUT ANOTHER 2 WEEKS GO BY and I still haven't received any form of payment. I've already called them and talking to my boss in person several times at this point, and they keep feeding me bullsh*t reasons on why I haven't been paid yet. So I told them I was going to quit if they didn't pay me by Friday. Friday rolls around, and they do eventually pay me, for about a few days worth of pay. This is another issue that I stupidly didn't realize, I never solidified my answer about how much I was getting paid. For the sheer amount of work I was putting in and for how much I was working since day one, I assumed at least $16.00-$17.00. No no no, I was getting paid $11.00, mind you- I applied and landed myself an assistant manager position. At this point, I'm so fed up of this garbage I told them I was going to put in my two weeks. I shouldn't have given them that notice because for the next two weeks my boss bombarded me with pleads to stay and work for them, how they'll give me a raise of only $1.50, and how much of a valued worker I was. Finally, when I my two weeks were nearing to an end, and I already got myself a much better job that I am much happier with, I received a call from my boss telling me that I had to come in at that very moment (it was my day off) and cover for a double shift as someone had apparently walked out. (Honestly, I don't blame them.) I never even bothered finishing my two weeks after that. (Also- I never received the correct amount of money I earned from the first 3 weeks of working there. I'm still very bitter about it.)
My dad is in his mid-60's and has worked at Amazon for about 3 years and can never stop talking about how "great" it is and how "everyone should work there". Keep in mind he works at a desk job there, not as a driver or in any of the lines. Thing is he has been so badly mistreated at his previous jobs that he now sees this job where he works over 10 hours a day 6 days a week, has serious health issues and can't ever retire as the "best job he ever had." I've tried to convince him that amazon isn't a good company to work for and that he is being taking advantage of and deserves better, I even tried to show him evidence of amazon's mistreatment of their workers, and he'll always respond with "those people just don't want to work". I love my dad, but he is completely brainwashed by amazon and it's just really sad to see. Seriously, it's like he's in a cult! Last time we talked was when my grandmother died, and he still SOMEHOW brought up how "great" amazon is in the conservation about his own mothers' death.
I'm sorry to hear that. Thing is you can't help him until he finds value in himself and learns that he is worthy of better things (like each and every one of us). It's sad to see our parents hurting and exhausting their health.
I remember my step dad working there, I never hear him complain too much. But he's about 52 years old now (also my mom is 35 so that's kinda weird)and amazon was his job during college, so I'm guessing it was better back then.

As a current driver for amazon can confirm, we cant use the restroom either. We can but we’ll get in trouble for our stops per hour decreasing. Heck, even our mandatory lunch and two breaks are not factored into the route planning meaning even taking your mandatory lunch inherently puts you behind in their system. That means you always have to be at least half an hour ahead of schedule everyday just to stay on track.
@@Assassin5671000 long story short, you only work for a 3rd party DSP and if you all do that, amazon will punish your DSP and just dump your workload to other 3rd party DSP(s). DSP’s go under ever so often so when they do amazon just makes incentives for people to start another DSP and start over.
Cap I'm also a driver I have never gotten in trouble for deviating from my route, pissing in bottles, or told I couldn't take a break sounds like your dsp managers are just dickheads

I was the best worker at my Amazon, i quit through the app after working there for 7 months. I hated the area manager, I was very overworked and stressed and not appreciated
The worst part about Amazon is the fact; That no one cares. I’m currently a worker and have been for two years. Everyone is overworked and the mangers seem to be indifferent. On top of that, you have higher ups coming up with these ideas that are good on paper . But shit in the actual application. So that just makes life harder on the associate.

I work at Amazon as a delivery driver, they had issues with me not finishing on time, so I decided to go extremely fast, so fast that they recognized this was the fastest to complete such a high stop count of 180 stops. Just to complete all of that at the time they estimated me to finish. There is no way I went that fast just to finish at exactly the time they set me to finish. It is a major issue and it's clear they're overworking people.
Oh I've done 130 stops in quiet suburbs door to door in around 5 hours, but they really do have to be packed pretty tight. Definitely don't miss the average day of showing up at 9am, and waiting with our DSP to dispatch at 10:30, and be home between 10pm and midnight though lmao.
Amazon is dog ass! I’m an amazon delivery driver and it’s literally awful. Over worked, underpaid. I’m currently sitting out of work because I broke my ankle on the job. I also worked in the warehouses and that was awful. Never met my actual boss ever. Not even one time! I was hired on automatically, put right to work and was trained by some trainers and then that was it! I only worked in the warehouse for a very small time because it was the worst experience ever. I hate that company with a passion. It’s why I’m trying desperately to try and build an audience on Tik tok and try and make videos on here because I want to break out of this work force and just do the things that make me happy. And luckily because I broke my ankle out there delivering packages, I now have more time. But yeah exactly what Jordan says! All on point, DO NOT WORK FOR AMAZON

Here’s my story of working at Amazon. Got hired on at a warehouse overnight, had my first shift on a holiday in which I got paid extra to go through “training” (of which they were woefully disorganized and unprepared for, as I essentially was left with nothing to do for at least a few hours over the course of the night). They briefly showed us how we were going to sort things for about an hour at the end of the shift. Came back the next night and was thrown into the task pretty much unsupervised, and got chastised for mistakes a few times rather than being given actual instruction. After that shift I immediately submitted paid time off for the next two days to consider my bad choice, then said F that and told them I quit effective immediately. Made out like a bandit since they paid me for the two nights I was there, plus 2 shifts of PTO (one of which was time and a half for holiday), along with a free pair of nice shoes they gave to new hires. My paycheck for 1 shift of physical labor came out to about $740. 😂Thanks Amazon, and go screw yourself!
My former roommate was told by his manager that he needed to stop checking his blood sugar (diabetic) and taking his insulin while on shift or he was going to be disciplined, subsequently he ended up spending 2 days in the hospital because he wasn't able to take care of himself. I won't shop at amazon anymore, their employment practices don't deserve my business. I wish everyone would do the same or this will become the standard in employment world wide.
I worked at Amazon for two years. It traumatized me. I still have PTSD from working there til this day. I will no longer work for any company that’s a production warehouse. Never again.
I feel the same way about customer service. It was horrible. Men would call wanting us to read the descriptions of the adult toys. People would let their mentally disabled adults call and we couldn't help them (because the responsible party had removed all payment methods, so no sorry you're not getting the stuff you have in your cart) but weren't allowed to hang up on them. One guy called to yell at me cause I live in AZ and he thinks (he was obviously mentally unhinged) that everyone in AZ voted for t* and has a problem with the border. I ended up having a heart attack a couple months after leaving and I'm positive the stress of working there lead to it.
I dont what all happened in 5 months but Ive been working at amazon for 3 months now and 1, the bathroom break thing is a complete myth (in my experience). I literally walk of for a 15m bathroom break or so atleast 3-4 times a day. (I work 12 hour shifts). Nobody else ever complains about bathroom breaks either so not really sure where that came from. Second of all, the ONLY bad things I've experienced is the shear amount of pain you will be in those first 3 weeks while your body adjusts to the work. And this isnt just Amazon btw, Ive worked at 2 other factory esc jobs and they all make you feel like this, atleast with Amazon it actually goes away after 3 weeks instead of lingering. Also they pay for your work shoes ($120 or so) whereas most factory jobs take the money out of your first pay check to cover work equipment costs. Plus this refreshes every year so you can buy new shoes. You start with 16 hours of time off that you can use whenever you want to. I mean it just doesnt make sense to complain about this. I get paid $18.90 an hour for 3, 12 hour shifts thats really good. I work in Texas btw, idk if its different state by state but yeah. It's just people finding any reason to complain about their jobs because nobody likes working, trust me I dont either, but as far as jobs go Amazon is a good one. Pretty great benefits too on top of all this.
I agree with you the Amazon warehouse I worked at was okay. The bathrooms weren't far away and I could get to them easy. But the warehouse I was in was new. They finished building two years ago when I joined them so you could tell that they where flexable. There was a varity of workers the complainers, hard workers, lazy ones, and easy going ones. The one that hate Amazon sound like they didn't have a positive attuitude. Maybe it all based on the warehouse on is in🤷♀
I agree!!! I’ve worked at 3 different locations, 2 fulfillment centers and a delivery location. I’m currently employed at AK1 (Akron, OH), and it’s not that bad!!! They have great benefits, you earn time off, and they pay to further one’s education!!! There are so many opportunities available at Amazon, but people don’t take advantage of them!!! I so dislike when I hear people complaining about the job, it’s a production based environment, what do people expect…

I worked at amazon warehouse,amazon fresh, ups warehouse. All horrible they work you like robots. Feels like you’re in a dungeon. It felt like I couldn’t breathe correctly. I quit all those after a few weeks 😂. Now I make $75k a year sitting on my booty! It’s a dream honestly.

Unfortunately I am currently working for Amazon. I am working on getting a different job though. They can afford to treat people better and pay them better. They don't simply because of greed.
This is absolutely true. My daughter worked for them and quit after a couple of months. She said she had to go up 2 floors to go to the bathroom and they always timed it. That's totally opposite of Wal-Mart. I worked there and if you have to go, you go. They don't expect you be anything other than human.

The pay was crap to go along with crap hours and I had to take overnight shifts just to pay rent 🤦🏾 I was so glad when I got my current job and got the heck up outta Amazon.

I work at amazon currently. Been there over 4 years. Not too many complaints to be honest. I go to the bathroom whenever I please and I have good open dialog with my current management. It's probably because of where I work in the building. There aren't that many people who can work in that section regularly and they don't force people to work in that area because it has been known to make new hires quit from the idea what they'd need to do. I mean come to the section for training, walk to the bathroom and never return or go on break and remain there indefinitly...... Overall it's a simple job. Load trailers, send them out on time and keep the lines moving. Not a great job but not as bad as all that from my experience... Did have a few managers that came in and tried to be "hardcore" but I always stopped it as soon as it started. Always read the rules and regs. Being technically right is the best kind of right. The kind of right that comes with a slamdunk court room win.
I worked there for 1 month & it scarred me for life. Our mezzanine floor would get so hot that bc so many ppl were passing out they just stationed 2 ambulances out front so they could treat you & send you back to work.

Just to provide a little bit of counterpoint, I was a network engineer at Amazon for 9 years. My co-workers were great, my boss was great, I really liked it. The only reason I left is because we have a special needs child. My wife wanted to go back to work, so we decided it was my turn to stay home and take care of our child. Otherwise I would probably still be working there today. It really sounds like it's the warehouse and delivery jobs that are terrible. If you work in the corporate offices, it can actually be pretty great.

I worked at a 'Fulfillment Center', as a temp, for 9 months. When I was hired full time, I was moved to a different department, picking, which is the MOST difficult job there. I went from being a good packer, to fired, in less than 9 months, coincidentally, near my birthday. I would not recommend them to anyone, unless you're young, which I'm not. The particular location I worked at celebrated their 10th anniversary at that location, and were PROUD that they had over 20k people that had worked there in that length of time, not that were a lot of people still working there from that time. That should tell you a LOT about it...
I have no complaints about my two years at Amazon. I worked heavy returns (Team and Mech, CVG2, Hebron, KY) for the first year and it was very physical. I worked in the yard directing incoming semi.'s and moving trailers to dock doors. Not physical but often cold and wet. Then Amazon paid for me to get my Commercial Drivers License, all the license fees and exam fees and paid my hourly wage to attend the classes. Now I drive for a Commercial carrier and love it. I don't think it would have happened without Amazon.
I worked at Amazon many moons ago and I to asked to go to the restroom and I walked that way to but I didn't go to the bathroom I ran to my audi, did 120 to the house and never returned 🙃 going to the rest room is a great way to quit.
I worked at Amazon for 6 months in 2020... I'm still not okay. I literally cannot walk into the building anymore without feeling suffocated. Got a temp job there earlier this year. Made it 4 days and nearly had a break down. It's awful.
During the panini (since I don't want to get flagged) my college laid off a lot of people not knowing enrollments and such. I went on unemployment as a result. The sheer pressure I got to apply to Amazon was disgusting. I have an advanced degree, and have been working in higher ed for awhile. Even so, I am not above working retail. That being said I knew Amazon had issues treating workers decently. This bureaucrat was so excited about the job prospects that Amazon supplied. She kept suggesting it (at least 3 times in our interview) and especially the manager position because of my education. There is no way I could have treated workers the way corporate would want them to be treated to maximize profits. Luckily I returned to my job the next school year, but that still bothers me today.

I mustve worked at one of the better fulfillment centers. We got bathroom breaks and we were treated very well. Catered holiday dinners and everything. My supervisor was great. He asked me how i like my job (Sorting) one day and i told him straight up "I hate it. Its monotonous and brain numbing". The next week, I was working another position that I actually liked (Water Spider). Theyre fatal flaw is in their PTO/UTO system. Its cool that you get a gang of paid hours that you can use at will. You can come in late if you want. Just use your PTO or UTO to cover those missed hours. The problem comes when you run out of hours. Thats an instant termination. I had 9 Vacation hours left and they wouldnt let me use them for a couple days that i was sick so i got fired. Would i work there again? no. Did i enjoy my time there? NGL, i did have some fun moments there. Freight elevators are dope af! Ive also worked at UPS for 2 years prior to this so i think i was a little better prepared for this position than most.
The worst thing about getting TOT for bathroom breaks is that sometimes it takes 5+ minutes even _getting_ to the toilet, let alone doing your business and returning. Now, I had a decent experience working at Amazon, but you are very much just a number. My department was lax about TOT, but they were changing that by the time I left. The worst thing imo is the expected task rates. I remember I got moved to a new department temporarily for a month and was expected to hit the standard task rate two days after I was trained. I've always hated working positions where you're timed on tasks and Amazon is really horrible for that. The best thing to do really is to just work at Amazon for as long as you need to then quit. Use it as a stopping point, not a career.
About 2 years ago, I needed a job bad and Amazon was hiring at 15 bucks. I applied, went to the hiring seminar, got the job, then immediately called them and told them I'm just gonna look for other jobs, and found one about two weeks later. I still look back fondly on how I dodged one helluva bullet on that one.
I work at an Amazon fulfillment center. I get payed much more than 14 an hour. I am an order picker. I take bathroom breaks. It is a long 3 day stretch that is in fact tiresome. But it's worth it. I like it.
I think it depends on what facility you work at. I work at FTW6 and I love it. They don't limit bathroom breaks lol. They just want everyone to work efficiently because productivity is very important. You definitely can't be a slacker working at Amazon. They have great benefits.
If you care to work at Amazon go during the holiday season where you're probably gonna get the most money for the least work. Paid time off that's REQUIRED to use before the new year, it'll be cold in the warehouse so you won't need the non working fan and honestly nobody really cares if you're slow af. Also, QUIT after the first week of New Years so they know you aren't their slave.
We spend the majority of our life at work, pick a job where they treat you decently, with wages that allows you to get at the end of the month without drawning and with a respectful relationship with your colleagues and boss. It saves your health and money.
I can definitely vouch for every single thing said in this video lol. I worked at a Non-sortable fulfillment center back in 2016, had an instance where my stomach as acting up and spent maybe 10 minutes in the bathroom. Came back, scanned my first item and had a message to go see my manager and was then asked what I was doing in this 10 minute window that I was not scanning. Told them I was in the bathroom and having stomach issues and the manager then proceeded to ask me if I could try to reduce that time. They don't care, they only ever cared about numbers and that's all I was. So after 7 straight months of 60 hour weeks when they announced once again that we were having overtime that week. (We were told on a Friday, at our Post-Lunch Stand up meeting. Like always) I walked out and never looked back lol.
Didn't see this video until now but as someone who's worked at both Amazon and another facory/warehouse type job this man is speaking facts. Just to put into perspective, long after leaving Amazon I was in a desperate pinch and took an offer for an automotive manufacturer where we would stand and repeat the same 20 second assembly tasks for 12 hours a day. And the hours were nearly criminal, 4 days of working 12 hour shifts and 3 days of 10 hour shifts, and yes that meant there were no days off unless we met quota which happened only three times in the 4 months I was there. I would STILL rather work that job again than go back to Amazon.
Worked at Amazon, got fired for not taking ENOUGH days for medical leave. Had oral surgery, took 6 instead of 7 days, as beginning of work week was overnight, between 6th and 7th day.

I wish I saw this video last year. I would've commented how I work for Amazon funny enough I started a year ago before this video was posted and I still work there till this day. I love being there. The managers are the best managers ive ever had and I got hounded at my last job for even doing the task I was given so this is heaven compared to my last job. I had something happen at work where I started looking for another job and was like I cant leave amazon ill never have these types of managers again.
I worked there 3 months as a picker and i consistently picking ay least 250 units an hour. became a vehicle operator for forklifts cherry pickers and tugs. Became a trainer, Then quit bc they didnt give me my sign on bonus bc my start date that they set wasnt within the time frame for it, even though it was still being offered as a hiring tool for new employees. So i told everyone i could and we all walked out. I thought it was cool as hell but it probably didnt even phase them.😂
He got it in the first two seconds IMO, but the rest is also good to know. Worked at amazon for like, two months. Besides missing wages and being so tired every day I didn't even eat, I just couldn't handle racing the mechanical pacing of the warehouse crew after driving for nearly two hours a day for barely any money and ten hours of work. Spent a full day unable to move and the next morning I limped up to the front, left my badge and uniform at the desk and didn't go back. I can't die for money, it won't follow me to the grave anyway

I work as a delivery driver as I get through college, and I will say the DPS I work for is pretty cool, they don’t over work us and actually care about our well being. However, we do mainly smaller towns outside the major city/country roads. I will say I have done some routes in the city and those r unacceptable, they expect us to do 140-160 stops of apartments and I’m like yeah nah, I brought back 80 packages tht day 😂. If I did apartments all day I’d quit too, which is probably y they always needs help at tht location. Plus warehouse sucks, worked there too, best position is water spider cuz then u don’t get TOT
I work in the hub at UPS with a guy who also works for Amazon, and he loves it. I have talked with him a couple times about how he works both companies and which he thinks is best. He says both companies have good and bad but as long as you get the job done noone bothers you.
I worked there for almost a year before they fired me for going over my pto and upt because I notified them a week before that I was on a heart monitor and was not able to take my mental health meds until a week later when I got the monitor off I notified them in advance and sent in my paperwork for the appeal and still got fired. It’s fine because a law firm looked at my request and wants me to call them back to get more info on it. I might make more off them since they fired me than I would have if I was still working there

Couldn't agree more. I lasted 3 weeks as a driver. The amount of work they load upon you is just unrealistic and this is from someone who stays in shape and is not a lazy worker.
The suggestion to hold an Amazon truck hostage broke me for about 10 seconds straight. I could not breathe, except to exhale in laughter. My cat panicked, and assumed I was dying. I have nothing good to say about workiing at amazon and I grind my teeth when I say the benifits are good. Currently using their money to study animation at my local community collage and hopefully if I can start making decent money on that I am reducing my time to work as little as possible until I can find somewhere better.
I worked at an Amazon call center for almost 4 years. The building had tiny, slit like windows. The lights were kept at half power, so it was always dark. It wasn't bad when I started, but things slowly started to go downhill quickly. If you were 15 seconds over a break, you were written up. If it happened more than three times, you were in danger of losing your job. Bathroom breaks had to be planned out, because they track every second of your time. The year I managed to find a new job, they lowered the temp in the building to 65, in winter, and gave everyone blankets for Christmas. It was like working in a dungeon, and by the time I left, I was so depressed and sick it took me years to recover.
I work at a completely NOT AMAZON warehouse. The New Operations manager here used to be a manager for Amazon. When she gave her introductory speech she said, and I quote, "If you've heard something bad about Amazon, It's probably true." Invaluable advice and now I share it with you.

I worked it as a seasonal employee for some extra Xmas money, and it was the worst. The way they do their breaks are straight up illegal. I quit before I planned, not because I was in constant pain (which I was) but because my young daughter begged me to. She hated what it was doing to me, and I realized it was not worth it. I worked more hours at higher pay there than at my main job and somehow made less money.
Real talk! When I started at Amazon, I lost 11 pounds in 14 days. When I'd go to sleep, my arms would start at my side, but end up straight up toward my head, trying to escape my body, because they too did not want to go back to Amazon to pack boxes.
Fam working at amazon made me smoke more than I like to admit, I went from smoking 3 roll ups a day to 14 times a day and up to 4 energy drinks a shift.
Amazon corporate is weird too. I've had several interviews to work at corporate in Seattle and I've had to STUDY to go through them. One must memorize their business principles and have scenarios prepared in the STAR format. Last time, I had prepared notecards - NOTECARDS - for the interview. I've had friends who have worked for corporate and have quit within 6 months to come back to their old job. I had another friend whom they moved over to Seattle from North Carolina to work there. He hated it, stayed for one year so he didn't have to pay for the moving fees, then quit to go back\ to NC. So, just say no. Those people are nuts.
As a person who has worked at amazon that worked hard and also quietly quit during a lunch break. I can confirm that this man is preaching the truth. I lost 20 pounds while working there and going to college at the same time. I only worked there for about a month. 20 pounds in one month is I repeat NOT HEALTHY.

One of the best somewhat recent examples of amazon not caring about their workers is probably when the Mayfield tornado hit their warehouse, all the higher ups were allowed to leave but when the workers tried to leave they were not allowed to, they were forced to continue working while under a tornado emergency (Confirmed large and dangerous tornado).
All of the workers would just straight up and leave O.o No one would stay for that.

Other people were in the "bathroom" (The bathroom is literally a cardboard box. Not safe at all.) and they were all killed as well.

As a former Amazon employee (at two different warehouses), I can confirm that TOT (time off task) or alternatively, “time theft”, is their biggest oppressive professional practice.

I worked as an Area Manager there and thought that was the biggest scam. I ran our Ship Dock and would always code TOT to something that couldn’t really be tracked since we only scanned in Pallet Lane. I saved a lot of my associates jobs that way and they worked hard in return. I was eventually let go even without reason, but I’m pretty sure that’s why. That company prides itself off high turnover.

HR gave me the run around with granting my accommodations constantly. At the second warehouse I worked at, I was fired for being the VICTIM of employee assault by another employee during work hours while working the pallets. It didn’t even matter that I couldn’t do anything to her to get her psycho ass off of me.

They do give you bathroom breaks but during the time you're off task, it is logged and they only allow so many time off tasks before they'll either move you to another station or put a reprimand in your records so you can go to the bathroom but it takes way too long for you to go from your station all the way to the bathroom which is usually further than it takes to go to the bathroom at Costco; about a block and a half worth
I worked 3rd shift at Amazon from 2019-2020 in their fulfillment center, so I just sorted packages all night and this was before the Time Off Task mess that most people know and resent. Even so, when you were sorting packages in your 2-5 aisles (yes, there were days I had to do 5 aisles by myself), the packages would just keep coming and pile up regardless of whether or not you were in those aisles or not.
So, while they didn't actively punish us for going to the bathroom while the line was running back then, the extent to which you'd fall behind if you went to the bathroom for even 5-10 minutes was agonizing. I learned real quick to always hold it until they called break (which happened when they felt like it and not at any consistent time in the shift) or the mess I'd walk back to after relieving myself would be about as painful as blowing off my entire leg with an RPG.
Even quitting was an aggravating process cause I tried more than once to put in my two weeks notice and had to legitimately show up during the daytime to personally confirm the date of my last day with the HR people, who still nearly fumbled the bag right in front of me.
As I've often said, one of the truest signs of an awful job isn't just a revolving door of employees, but a revolving door of MANAGERS, and in the 18 months I spent working there, at least 8 people went in and out of the managing position at the fulfillment center. Burn that entire franchise to the ground.

Only 5 aisles? They routinely try to get me to run a whole letter to myself lmao (Or more, I ran two on my own two days in a row once [About 26 aisles, at a delivery station]). And you can quit with their app these days, the third party HR must've gotten tired of all the emails. From the few that actually didn't just disappear.
I have been working in an amazon warehouse for around 16 months. It took 12 months for our managers to finally introduce hard hats because no one knew it was an OSHA violation to work inside the trailers without one. There is an incredible amount of things I can say about this company but that alone should tell you to never work for any of their warehouses. They have no respect for any of their workers, and managers are either pressured or get a power trip to adopt the same disgusting treatment of their underlings.

I worked at Amazon and I had fun. I trained new people, I was a picker, a packer, and a area floor monitor. I was lucky and worked with some great people and great managers. I quit because the pay and yes, it does wear on your body after a while. This was in the warehouse as well. I thought is going back, but I need hours that fit my school schedule. There are some pretty bad warehouses out there. Just depends on the state and having the right managers.

I worked for them when they opened a new distribution center in my town about 4 years ago. I was the only guy on the sorting line with everyone else being women ( and this is NOT a dig at women because they did work their collective asses off) and it felt like I ended up getting about 95% of all the heavy things so my scan count was always lower than most everyone else because I'm lugging 50 to damn near 100 lbs at a time. Then I got the flu right after Christmas and almost passed out on the sorting belt and missed a few days ( under doctors order) and I was terminated via email, and the email gave a a termination date of a week prior and I had been working that whole week so go figure that out. I would rather preform open heart surgery on myself with a dull spork while doing a split on a cactus made of broken glass than EVER work for Amazon again.

As a current Amazon warehouse employee, listen to this man. It's actually just a slow torture. You have to turn your brain off or suffer from 10 hours of constant boredom while your body gets more and more sore over the course of the work week. On your weekends, you're basically waiting for your back and feet to stop being sore. When they start feeling normal, that's when you know it's time to start the new work week. Also, you're working the night shift, so you're always sleepy and probably have a vitaman D deficiency.
Absolutely a fulfillment center is not for everyone but I would recommend going to a sortation center or a delivery station that won’t be as tough or in your body and remember Epson salt is your best friend
I'm currently a driver, and perhaps ive had the worst jobs previously, but so far this is my favorite I've ever had. My managers are very supportive and understanding, my coworkers are friendly and helpful, there's minimal customer interaction which means minimal verbal and emotional abuse. It's fantastic! Beats working at a gas station in my experience.

I've been a nurse at Amazon for 3 years in the warehouse! We call it the slave ship! No gratitude or appreciation even when I work 10 days out of 11 days. NO RAISE in those 3 years! They DEF give you a signing bonus, but it's to hold you hostage! Lets say they give you $10k signing bonus, it will be paid on your first paycheck. You'll receive about 4-5k after tax. So if you quit within the first year, you must PAY IT BACK!!! All of it! Even the tax that you didn't receive. You received 4-5k but have to pay back the 10k! And Jeffy is busy giving away his billions! The turnaround is NUTS!! The discount is trash. Lots of free shirts though!

I was once a fan of Amazon and used it for almost everything I ordered online, as well as had Amazon prime, but when I discovered what was happening to the people working there, I was so outraged and horrified that I immediately stopped any and all business with them completely.. I absolutely REFUSE to give any company my money if they have no care for their employees well being.. I did the same with Walmart after learning about how messed up things are there as well.. Yeah I might have to spend more money elsewhere or go outta my way to get some of the things I need, but I'd rather do that than do business with companies that commit crimes against humanity, which is what they both basically do.. It aggravates me so much that some people don't get that purposefully* purchasing from these unethical companies inevitably means financially supporting these companies' work practices and the ethics of the higher-ups/CEO. The harsh reality of modern-day consumerism is that the average person can't financially or physically purchase what they need ethically 100% of the time, but what matters is that you are genuinely trying to do better and are educating yourself on the values of the companies that you purchase from.

I worked at Amazon, and everything that Jordan has stated is true. I quit during a 15 minute break. I didn’t plan on quitting, but I felt overworked, drained, and I couldn’t take another day. It is probably the most depressing job I have ever had, and I’ve worked in a job field where I was a verbal and physical punching bag for my clients, and even management.

I’m sorry you had such a bad experience. You obviously had poor management in your building because I can contest that I have very good managers that do care and if you have to go to the bathroom, they made sure someone replaced you or if you had to leave for the day for whatever your reason they made sure someone replaced you, it really sucks that I’m reading all of these horrible comments about people just being treated like a number because it is not like that at my building at all we are constantly having fun events and food events that we are treated to no one has to ever pay for things like that we have pajama day we have all kinds of things and the managers really do care And they will go out of their way to help you with your scheduling. You need a day off you need a week off whatever it is that you need. They definitely work with you to help you out and if you need to take time off, they even help you with that until you want to return.
I once worked at a 'health-based' smoothie place when I first moved out of my family's house at the age of 18. I was moving to the big city compared to where I originally grew up (and still live in said big city) and didn't know where a good place to work would be. I was looking for a job that would hire right away as I needed a job lined up close to where I was gonna live, so already my standards weren't too great.
The biggest red flag that I ignored when getting the interview was that the first 'attempt' was going to be via video conference. Now, I was expecting my employer to host the interview from their work establishment, I couldn't be more wrong. My 'boss' tried to interview me initially at her home while she was eating and wearing what I could only assume was a bathrobe. But because the audio for the video call wasn't working, we scheduled it for the next day in person. So I drive down to the place and think that I'm going to get my interview held in an office of some sort, but no- it was held in the walk-in cooler where all the produce and such was being held. There was a desk in there with a single seat, so I guess it was an 'office' in a way. So here I am, freezing my butt off in a cooler with my soon-to-be boss sitting standing up while they're sitting as we didn't have another chair lying around. The interview- and I wish I was joking- only lasted 5 minutes. I kid you not, I had set up a resume, with references, contacts, and a list of credentials, and they never even bothered to read it.
Red flag number two:
My 'boss' left midway through said 'interview' to help up front because we didn't have enough workers. And the number of workers that were scheduled that day totaled 3 people. Sure, we were a smaller business, but no one, and I mean no one, had any idea how to manage an entire building by ourselves, as we were already overworked fresh outta high school adults. So seeing as this place was hanging on by the skin of its teeth, I should've declined. My boss then told me I got the job without really asking me anything, we never even discussed pay or when I should really start via time. They informed me to show up anywhere from 8:00am to 10:00am the next day and then gestured me to a pile of clothes on the floor underneath the desk in the cooler. It was my work uniform, well- anyone's work uniform to be exact. They just had a pile of randomly sized shirts to pick from and told me that I didn't have to wash them. (I most certainly did that day.)
Red flag number three:
When the next day arrived, I showed up about 30 minutes earlier than expected as I was pretty nervous about starting a new job. So while I was waiting outside, I got a text telling me not to show up until 12:00 because there were some issues going on that they didn't want me to see. And to this day, I still don't know what those said issues were.
I show up, expecting a walk-through or a crash-course of some sort, but was inseatd immediately thrown up front to start taking orders for the line of customers already forming. Thankfully though, the ordering screen was simple enough to get a basic understanding of how it worked, but still.
Red flag number four:
I was already working there for about a week when I realized- wait, we never discussed salary or payment of any kind, so when I went up to my boss to ask them about it, they told me everyone gets paid every Friday. (I already worked for them for about 9 days,) and when confronting them about this issue, they told me that their computers had lost my banking info, which therefore didn't allow direct deposit. So I give them my info in writing this time, expecting to get paid now for my days already put in... BUT ANOTHER 2 WEEKS GO BY and I still haven't received any form of payment. I've already called them and talking to my boss in person several times at this point, and they keep feeding me bullsh*t reasons on why I haven't been paid yet. So I told them I was going to quit if they didn't pay me by Friday. Friday rolls around, and they do eventually pay me, for about a few days worth of pay. This is another issue that I stupidly didn't realize, I never solidified my answer about how much I was getting paid. For the sheer amount of work I was putting in and for how much I was working since day one, I assumed at least $16.00-$17.00. No no no, I was getting paid $11.00, mind you- I applied and landed myself an assistant manager position. At this point, I'm so fed up of this garbage I told them I was going to put in my two weeks. I shouldn't have given them that notice because for the next two weeks my boss bombarded me with pleads to stay and work for them, how they'll give me a raise of only $1.50, and how much of a valued worker I was. Finally, when I my two weeks were nearing to an end, and I already got myself a much better job that I am much happier with, I received a call from my boss telling me that I had to come in at that very moment (it was my day off) and cover for a double shift as someone had apparently walked out. (Honestly, I don't blame them.)
I never even bothered finishing my two weeks after that.
(Also- I never received the correct amount of money I earned from the first 3 weeks of working there. I'm still very bitter about it.)

My dad is in his mid-60's and has worked at Amazon for about 3 years and can never stop talking about how "great" it is and how "everyone should work there". Keep in mind he works at a desk job there, not as a driver or in any of the lines. Thing is he has been so badly mistreated at his previous jobs that he now sees this job where he works over 10 hours a day 6 days a week, has serious health issues and can't ever retire as the "best job he ever had." I've tried to convince him that amazon isn't a good company to work for and that he is being taking advantage of and deserves better, I even tried to show him evidence of amazon's mistreatment of their workers, and he'll always respond with "those people just don't want to work". I love my dad, but he is completely brainwashed by amazon and it's just really sad to see. Seriously, it's like he's in a cult! Last time we talked was when my grandmother died, and he still SOMEHOW brought up how "great" amazon is in the conservation about his own mothers' death.

As a current driver for amazon can confirm, we cant use the restroom either. We can but we’ll get in trouble for our stops per hour decreasing. Heck, even our mandatory lunch and two breaks are not factored into the route planning meaning even taking your mandatory lunch inherently puts you behind in their system. That means you always have to be at least half an hour ahead of schedule everyday just to stay on track.
So can't you and your coworkers band together and go on a collective restroom break to stand against these practices ?
@@Assassin5671000 long story short, you only work for a 3rd party DSP and if you all do that, amazon will punish your DSP and just dump your workload to other 3rd party DSP(s). DSP’s go under ever so often so when they do amazon just makes incentives for people to start another DSP and start over.

The worst part about Amazon is the fact; That no one cares. I’m currently a worker and have been for two years. Everyone is overworked and the mangers seem to be indifferent. On top of that, you have higher ups coming up with these ideas that are good on paper . But shit in the actual application. So that just makes life harder on the associate.

I work at Amazon as a delivery driver, they had issues with me not finishing on time, so I decided to go extremely fast, so fast that they recognized this was the fastest to complete such a high stop count of 180 stops. Just to complete all of that at the time they estimated me to finish. There is no way I went that fast just to finish at exactly the time they set me to finish. It is a major issue and it's clear they're overworking people.

Oh I've done 130 stops in quiet suburbs door to door in around 5 hours, but they really do have to be packed pretty tight. Definitely don't miss the average day of showing up at 9am, and waiting with our DSP to dispatch at 10:30, and be home between 10pm and midnight though lmao.
The more you do, the more they give you the next day. I quit when they wanted me to fit 560 packages in a 300 package truck.

I also worked in the warehouses and that was awful. Never met my actual boss ever. Not even one time! I was hired on automatically, put right to work and was trained by some trainers and then that was it! I only worked in the warehouse for a very small time because it was the worst experience ever. I hate that company with a passion. It’s why I’m trying desperately to try and build an audience on Tik tok and try and make videos on here because I want to break out of this work force and just do the things that make me happy. Here’s my story of working at Amazon. Got hired on at a warehouse overnight, had my first shift on a holiday in which I got paid extra to go through “training” (of which they were woefully disorganized and unprepared for, as I essentially was left with nothing to do for at least a few hours over the course of the night). They briefly showed us how we were going to sort things for about an hour at the end of the shift. Came back the next night and was thrown into the task pretty much unsupervised, and got chastised for mistakes a few times rather than being given actual instruction. After that shift I immediately submitted paid time off for the next two days to consider my bad choice, then said F that and told them I quit effective immediately.
Made out like a bandit since they paid me for the two nights I was there, plus 2 shifts of PTO (one of which was time and a half for holiday), along with a free pair of nice shoes they gave to new hires. My paycheck for 1 shift of physical labor came out to about $740. 😂Thanks Amazon, and go screw yourself!

My former roommate was told by his manager that he needed to stop checking his blood sugar (diabetic) and taking his insulin while on shift or he was going to be disciplined, subsequently he ended up spending 2 days in the hospital because he wasn't able to take care of himself. I won't shop at amazon anymore, their employment practices don't deserve my business. I wish everyone would do the same or this will become the standard in employment world wide.

I feel the same way about customer service. It was horrible. Men would call wanting us to read the descriptions of the adult toys. People would let their mentally disabled adults call and we couldn't help them (because the responsible party had removed all payment methods, so no sorry you're not getting the stuff you have in your cart) but weren't allowed to hang up on them. One guy called to yell at me cause I live in AZ and he thinks (he was obviously mentally unhinged) that everyone in AZ voted for t* and has a problem with the border. I ended up having a heart attack a couple months after leaving and I'm positive the stress of working there lead to it.
I dont what all happened in 5 months but Ive been working at amazon for 3 months now and 1, the bathroom break thing is a complete myth (in my experience). I literally walk of for a 15m bathroom break or so atleast 3-4 times a day. (I work 12 hour shifts). Nobody else ever complains about bathroom breaks either so not really sure where that came from. Second of all, the ONLY bad things I've experienced is the shear amount of pain you will be in those first 3 weeks while your body adjusts to the work. And this isnt just Amazon btw, Ive worked at 2 other factory esc jobs and they all make you feel like this, atleast with Amazon it actually goes away after 3 weeks instead of lingering. Also they pay for your work shoes ($120 or so) whereas most factory jobs take the money out of your first pay check to cover work equipment costs. Plus this refreshes every year so you can buy new shoes. You start with 16 hours of time off that you can use whenever you want to. I mean it just doesnt make sense to complain about this. I get paid $18.90 an hour for 3, 12 hour shifts thats really good. I work in Texas btw, idk if its different state by state but yeah. It's just people finding any reason to complain about their jobs because nobody likes working, trust me I dont either, but as far as jobs go Amazon is a good one. Pretty great benefits too on top of all this.
I agree with you the Amazon warehouse I worked at was okay. The bathrooms weren't far away and I could get to them easy. But the warehouse I was in was new. They finished building two years ago when I joined them so you could tell that they where flexable. There was a varity of workers the complainers, hard workers, lazy ones, and easy going ones. The one that hate Amazon sound like they didn't have a positive attuitude. Maybe it all based on the warehouse on is in🤷♀

I agree!!! I’ve worked at 3 different locations, 2 fulfillment centers and a delivery location. I’m currently employed at AK1 (Akron, OH), and it’s not that bad!!! They have great benefits, you earn time off, and they pay to further one’s education!!! There are so many opportunities available at Amazon, but people don’t take advantage of them!!! I so dislike when I hear people complaining about the job, it’s a production based environment, what do people expect…

This is absolutely true. My daughter worked for them and quit after a couple of months. She said she had to go up 2 floors to go to the bathroom and they always timed it. The pay was crap to go along with crap hours and I had to take overnight shifts just to pay rent 🤦🏾 I was so glad when I got my current job and got the heck up outta Amazon.

I work at amazon currently. Been there over 4 years. Not too many complaints to be honest. I go to the bathroom whenever I please and I have good open dialog with my current management. It's probably because of where I work in the building. There aren't that many people who can work in that section regularly and they don't force people to work in that area because it has been known to make new hires quit from the idea what they'd need to do. I mean come to the section for training, walk to the bathroom and never return or go on break and remain there indefinitly...... Overall it's a simple job. Load trailers, send them out on time and keep the lines moving. Not a great job but not as bad as all that from my experience... Did have a few managers that came in and tried to be "hardcore" but I always stopped it as soon as it started. Always read the rules and regs. Being technically right is the best kind of right. The kind of right that comes with a slamdunk court room win.

Just to provide a little bit of counterpoint, I was a network engineer at Amazon for 9 years. My co-workers were great, my boss was great, I really liked it. The only reason I left is because we have a special needs child. My wife wanted to go back to work, so we decided it was my turn to stay home and take care of our child. Otherwise I would probably still be working there today.
It really sounds like it's the warehouse and delivery jobs that are terrible. If you work in the corporate offices, it can actually be pretty great.

I worked at a 'Fulfillment Center', as a temp, for 9 months. When I was hired full time, I was moved to a different department, picking, which is the MOST difficult job there. I went from being a good packer, to fired, in less than 9 months, coincidentally, near my birthday. I would not recommend them to anyone, unless you're young, which I'm not. The particular location I worked at celebrated their 10th anniversary at that location, and were PROUD that they had over 20k people that had worked there in that length of time, not that were a lot of people still working there from that time. That should tell you a LOT about it...
I have no complaints about my two years at Amazon. I worked heavy returns (Team and Mech, CVG2, Hebron, KY) for the first year and it was very physical. I worked in the yard directing incoming semi.'s and moving trailers to dock doors. Not physical but often cold and wet.
Then Amazon paid for me to get my Commercial Drivers License, all the license fees and exam fees and paid my hourly wage to attend the classes. Now I drive for a Commercial carrier and love it.
I don't think it would have happened without Amazon.

I worked at Amazon many moons ago and I to asked to go to the restroom and I walked that way to but I didn't go to the bathroom I ran to my audi, did 120 to the house and never returned 🙃 going to the rest room is a great way to quit.
I worked at Amazon for 6 months in 2020... I'm still not okay. I literally cannot walk into the building anymore without feeling suffocated. Got a temp job there earlier this year. Made it 4 days and nearly had a break down. It's awful.
During the panini (since I don't want to get flagged) my college laid off a lot of people not knowing enrollments and such. I went on unemployment as a result. The sheer pressure I got to apply to Amazon was disgusting. I have an advanced degree, and have been working in higher ed for awhile. Even so, I am not above working retail. That being said I knew Amazon had issues treating workers decently. This bureaucrat was so excited about the job prospects that Amazon supplied. She kept suggesting it (at least 3 times in our interview) and especially the manager position because of my education. There is no way I could have treated workers the way corporate would want them to be treated to maximize profits. Luckily I returned to my job the next school year, but that still bothers me today.

I mustve worked at one of the better fulfillment centers. We got bathroom breaks and we were treated very well. Catered holiday dinners and everything. My supervisor was great. He asked me how i like my job (Sorting) one day and i told him straight up "I hate it. Its monotonous and brain numbing". The next week, I was working another position that I actually liked (Water Spider). Theyre fatal flaw is in their PTO/UTO system. Its cool that you get a gang of paid hours that you can use at will. You can come in late if you want. Just use your PTO or UTO to cover those missed hours. The problem comes when you run out of hours. Thats an instant termination. I had 9 Vacation hours left and they wouldnt let me use them for a couple days that i was sick so i got fired. Would i work there again? no. Did i enjoy my time there? NGL, i did have some fun moments there. Freight elevators are dope af! Ive also worked at UPS for 2 years prior to this so i think i was a little better prepared for this position than most.

The worst thing about getting TOT for bathroom breaks is that sometimes it takes 5+ minutes even _getting_ to the toilet, let alone doing your business and returning. Now, I had a decent experience working at Amazon, but you are very much just a number. My department was lax about TOT, but they were changing that by the time I left. The worst thing imo is the expected task rates. I remember I got moved to a new department temporarily for a month and was expected to hit the standard task rate two days after I was trained. I've always hated working positions where you're timed on tasks and Amazon is really horrible for that. The best thing to do really is to just work at Amazon for as long as you need to then quit. Use it as a stopping point, not a career.
About 2 years ago, I needed a job bad and Amazon was hiring at 15 bucks. I applied, went to the hiring seminar, got the job, then immediately called them and told them I'm just gonna look for other jobs, and found one about two weeks later. I still look back fondly on how I dodged one helluva bullet on that one.

I work at an Amazon fulfillment center. I get payed much more than 14 an hour. I am an order picker. I take bathroom breaks. It is a long 3 day stretch that is in fact tiresome. But it's worth it. I like it.
Exactly how much are you paid? More than 14 doesn't mean much at all, given minimum in most places is 15.

I think it depends on what facility you work at. I work at FTW6 and I love it. They don't limit bathroom breaks lol. They just want everyone to work efficiently because productivity is very important. You definitely can't be a slacker working at Amazon. They have great benefits.
If you care to work at Amazon go during the holiday season where you're probably gonna get the most money for the least work. Paid time off that's REQUIRED to use before the new year, it'll be cold in the warehouse so you won't need the non working fan and honestly nobody really cares if you're slow af. Also, QUIT after the first week of New Years so they know you aren't their slave.
We spend the majority of our life at work, pick a job where they treat you decently, with wages that allows you to get at the end of the month without drawning and with a respectful relationship with your colleagues and boss. It saves your health and money.
I can definitely vouch for every single thing said in this video lol. I worked at a Non-sortable fulfillment center back in 2016, had an instance where my stomach as acting up and spent maybe 10 minutes in the bathroom. Came back, scanned my first item and had a message to go see my manager and was then asked what I was doing in this 10 minute window that I was not scanning. Told them I was in the bathroom and having stomach issues and the manager then proceeded to ask me if I could try to reduce that time. They don't care, they only ever cared about numbers and that's all I was. So after 7 straight months of 60 hour weeks when they announced once again that we were having overtime that week. (We were told on a Friday, at our Post-Lunch Stand up meeting. Like always) I walked out and never looked back lol.
Didn't see this video until now but as someone who's worked at both Amazon and another facory/warehouse type job this man is speaking facts.
Just to put into perspective, long after leaving Amazon I was in a desperate pinch and took an offer for an automotive manufacturer where we would stand and repeat the same 20 second assembly tasks for 12 hours a day. And the hours were nearly criminal, 4 days of working 12 hour shifts and 3 days of 10 hour shifts, and yes that meant there were no days off unless we met quota which happened only three times in the 4 months I was there. I would STILL rather work that job again than go back to Amazon.
Worked at Amazon, got fired for not taking ENOUGH days for medical leave. Had oral surgery, took 6 instead of 7 days, as beginning of work week was overnight, between 6th and 7th day.

I wish I saw this video last year. I would've commented how I work for Amazon funny enough I started a year ago before this video was posted and I still work there till this day. I love being there. The managers are the best managers ive ever had and I got hounded at my last job for even doing the task I was given so this is heaven compared to my last job. I had something happen at work where I started looking for another job and was like I cant leave amazon ill never have these types of managers again.

I worked there 3 months as a picker and i consistently picking ay least 250 units an hour. became a vehicle operator for forklifts cherry pickers and tugs. Became a trainer, Then quit bc they didnt give me my sign on bonus bc my start date that they set wasnt within the time frame for it, even though it was still being offered as a hiring tool for new employees. So i told everyone i could and we all walked out. I thought it was cool as hell but it probably didnt even phase them.😂
He got it in the first two seconds IMO, but the rest is also good to know. Worked at amazon for like, two months. Besides missing wages and being so tired every day I didn't even eat, I just couldn't handle racing the mechanical pacing of the warehouse crew after driving for nearly two hours a day for barely any money and ten hours of work. Spent a full day unable to move and the next morning I limped up to the front, left my badge and uniform at the desk and didn't go back. I can't die for money, it won't follow me to the grave anyway

Thank you so much Jordan. I worked for them in Boston for 4 months too long. 300 stops a day, no bathroom breaks, time clock in ever corner of the warehouse to time you on loading your truck yourself, tracking your phone all day. Sucked!
Worked on the dock for 12 hr shifts. Called RT. Would put 20+ miles on foot every night. Mostly while pulling pallets. Now, I have hip pain that I can't shake. He speaks truth
I work as a delivery driver as I get through college, and I will say the DPS I work for is pretty cool, they don’t over work us and actually care about our well being. However, we do mainly smaller towns outside the major city/country roads. I will say I have done some routes in the city and those r unacceptable, they expect us to do 140-160 stops of apartments and I’m like yeah nah, I brought back 80 packages tht day 😂. If I did apartments all day I’d quit too, which is probably y they always needs help at tht location. Plus warehouse sucks, worked there too, best position is water spider cuz then u don’t get TOT

I work in the hub at UPS with a guy who also works for Amazon, and he loves it. I have talked with him a couple times about how he works both companies and which he thinks is best. He says both companies have good and bad but as long as you get the job done noone bothers you.

I worked there for almost a year before they fired me for going over my pto and upt because I notified them a week before that I was on a heart monitor and was not able to take my mental health meds until a week later when I got the monitor off I notified them in advance and sent in my paperwork for the appeal and still got fired. It’s fine because a law firm looked at my request and wants me to call them back to get more info on it. I might make more off them since they fired me than I would have if I was still working there

Couldn't agree more. I lasted 3 weeks as a driver. The amount of work they load upon you is just unrealistic and this is from someone who stays in shape and is not a lazy worker.

I have nothing good to say about workiing at amazon and I grind my teeth when I say the benifits are good. Currently using their money to study animation at my local community collage and hopefully if I can start making decent money on that I am reducing my time to work as little as possible until I can find somewhere better.

I worked at an Amazon call center for almost 4 years. The building had tiny, slit like windows. The lights were kept at half power, so it was always dark. It wasn't bad when I started, but things slowly started to go downhill quickly. If you were 15 seconds over a break, you were written up. If it happened more than three times, you were in danger of losing your job. Bathroom breaks had to be planned out, because they track every second of your time. The year I managed to find a new job, they lowered the temp in the building to 65, in winter, and gave everyone blankets for Christmas. It was like working in a dungeon, and by the time I left, I was so depressed and sick it took me years to recover.
I work at a completely NOT AMAZON warehouse. The New Operations manager here used to be a manager for Amazon. When she gave her introductory speech she said, and I quote, "If you've heard something bad about Amazon, It's probably true." Invaluable advice and now I share it with you.

I worked it as a seasonal employee for some extra Xmas money, and it was the worst. The way they do their breaks are straight up illegal. I quit before I planned, not because I was in constant pain (which I was) but because my young daughter begged me to. She hated what it was doing to me, and I realized it was not worth it. I worked more hours at higher pay there than at my main job and somehow made less money.
Real talk! When I started at Amazon, I lost 11 pounds in 14 days. When I'd go to sleep, my arms would start at my side, but end up straight up toward my head, trying to escape my body, because they too did not want to go back to Amazon to pack boxes.
I always ask when our delivery guy hands off packages if he need to use our bathroom. It's ridiculous how grateful he is for that standing offer.

Amazon corporate is weird too. I've had several interviews to work at corporate in Seattle and I've had to STUDY to go through them. One must memorize their business principles and have scenarios prepared in the STAR format. Last time, I had prepared notecards - NOTECARDS - for the interview. I've had friends who have worked for corporate and have quit within 6 months to come back to their old job. I had another friend whom they moved over to Seattle from North Carolina to work there. He hated it, stayed for one year so he didn't have to pay for the moving fees, then quit to go back\ to NC. So, just say no. Those people are nuts.
